If, by games systems you mean consoles, then yes, I think that the PS2 has superior games to GameCube and Xbox, and superior controllers (VERY important), while it is maybe lacking on the specs side.

HOWEVER, if games systems includes the PC, then the PC would win hands down, (I find it) easy to control, MUCH faster/better graphics, and better games. I only have a PS2 because I occasionally like playing a more lighthearted game with a console controller, and to play good games that arn't available/are crap on PC (MGS 2, Pro Evolution Soccer).

Whaterver you do people will never think something is perfect. I like xbox but i like ps2 more. People who would play nintendo would most prob like xbox. Ps players ps2. I will also compliment that he was making a sarcastic statement. If you are to read Maddox's "7 resons why the X Box can Stuff it", seen on www.maddox.xmission.com (a.k.a. the best webpage in the Universe- and he's right about that), it is noteable of his sarcasm that graphics make great games.

Maddox knows, I know, all other people who have found out know- it's GAMEPLAY that makes a great game- graphics are in the package with it.

Also read Maddox's article about "Contra- The war the World forgot". From what I've seen, it further assists his statement about graphics in games. Contra is a 2d game which uses non 3d graphics (you know, the kind in Abes Oddysey and other games like that), but they still look good. Why do you think people still play the earlier Final Fantasies? For their "cutting edge graphics" or "insanely high frame rate"? They play it because of the Game Play.

X Box has obviously bought it's way into the market, and that's why it's getting more publicity. Do you see the PS2 getting put on billboards as much as the X Box, or even celebrities playing it in large Multi Player bloodbaths? NO! Why? Because the PS2 didn't need to- it came to the world with it's irresistable games and game play. But all X Box is doing is paying people to play it's game- celebrities and such.

One last quote from Maddox's best page in the Universe:

Despite no longer being the new kids on the gaming block and entering their second generation, the average Playstation owner's tolerance of shite software still has the power to amaze. 7 years on and they still haven't cottoned on to the the fact they are buying the same Football game every 6 months with minor statistical information changes. Yes, FPS are quite gay on any console whatsoever, UNLESS they are made SPECIFICALLY for THAT CONSOLE! Example, TimeSplitters 1 for PS2 is by far one of the best FPS shooters to date, and the graphics are quite superior to this day. If an import comes in (Unreal Tournament), I'd prefer using a Key Board.

Also another quote from Maddox:

People have used the size of the xbox controller as an argument for the PS2. You can buy an alternative and smaller Xbox controller, so that's that argument down the shitter. I think PS2 has seen it's final days of extreme popularity. I can't think of any PS2 titles that I would consider buying anytime soon, and I haven't bought a PS2 title in a long time. They better make the PS3 quick, because the PS2 just doesn't have what it takes to compete with XBOX or even the GameCube anymore. I haven't even touched my PS2 in about 4 months or so.

umm...Xbox live has been out for months, and is now boosting a fair variety of Xboxlive games, including their wolfenstein game, motogp2 and unreal championship. XBoxlive also comes with a headset. Unless PS2Online totally surpasses this technology, i don't see it having much effect, because they've got lots of games now, but how many are online compatible with online play?

people who like a wide selection of commercial gimmicky games (like games which sell purely because they are 18 rated or based on a film) are better off with the PS2.

i went round the colonels a couple of months back, the games he had for ps2 were a bit "meh". The usual 3rd person shooty stuff, beat em ups (tekken = pantyshot-tastic), and the odd rpg. Then we had a go at super monkey ball on his gamecube.

jesus, that was the most fun ive had playing a computer game for a long time. my sides were aching from laughing so much as we played monkey racing, bashing each other off the course.

You must have a PC to be posting here, so stop wasting cash on consoles and upgrade it. The only fun thing about consoles is playing together in the same room, and if u want to do that, just get a cheap N64, Goldeneye can still rival most other console fpses...

I have a GameCube. The games on there, while childish, are loads of fun.

Like Super Monkey Ball. I suck at that game so badly. It's so damn entertaining. And all the mini-games. Those are fun too.

But everything is so damn expensive. It's $30, $40 bucks for a game, $50 for some. I usually buy games used, when I feel like it. I got a crappy-ass game a few weeks ago for $10. It's crap, but if you have a go at it, you can have fun.

Upgrading PCs? If you have a shitty computer to begin with, it sucks. Me? The computer I'm on is from '96, it's rather old. The other computer is a shitty eMachines, and it's bound to suck. The other consoles seem to be less expensive, when the prices go way down. It helps if they're bundled with games. But the games are still expensive.

My favorite system? SNES. There's a NES around somewhere, too, haven't played it much. Games are cheap, since they're all used and available. And, even if you don't have the games, you can enjoy their 16-bit quality from emulators and such.

Some games are brilliant. Yoshi's Island, Chrono Trigger and such. But it matters if you're having fun or not. ^^

Gamecube is great cos it doesnt take itself so seriously, if it did it wouldnt release pikmin and monkey ball and WW and Resident Evil......

I like Gamecube now- it's only $100 dollars now! Thats my kinda console! Oh yeah, what about GBA and the little games on the mobile phones? Those ones rock. Oh yeah, and the Game Boy ones are alright. Without noticing any of the Pokemon T.V. series and mass promotion (oh god, someone kill me from seeing all those fucking advertisements...), Gold and Silver are pretty damn good games. Might consider buying GBA for X Mas, plus a game on it. All depends on the price. I'll probably buy Souls Caliber 2 though. My brother wants FFX2, AC3, ZOE2, and he wanted SC2. Didn't know that, and we got pissed at each other :p. Though I walked away without the use of my Larger Colon and left lung, I got his....

Yeah, I heard about that. It happened to one of my friends, who luckily had his warranty still on it, so he got a new one.

Also, my friend has tried many PS2's, and he said that you cannot play the DVD Lord Of The Rings- the 2 Towers. For this I don't know why: he used his other normal DVD player to watch it.

I've had a PS2 since it was released. Never had any trouble with it, and just this morning I was watching the two towers on it. Works for me!!!

i bought johnny english and that day i watched it on the ps2 and it stop int he middle i took back and watched it again ont he ps2 and it kepted skipping bits then i watched it on my dvd player and it worked fine (the reasons i did not watch on the dvd player first of all is someone was watching something in that at the first time i went to watch it)

Same thing happened to me with the Resident Evil Movie- skipped on the PS2, but we didn't have our other DVD player because it broke, so we will never know how it worked on it. I haven't heard anything about it stuffing up on X Box, mainly because I haven't really heard much about the X Box.

well i own an xbox and at first i thought its the most powerful machine so its the best and then i realised about the games, well at first anyway Halo is an all time classic it has to be said and project gotham racing is a mighty fine racing game but at the time that was it. But now a lot of the games coming out for the xbox are getting better all the time plus the controller isn't THAT bad.

Also if its just games platforms were talking then the PC is king and probably will forever be

Think about it what console are we most likely to be still playing on in 5 years time? I mean the original Playstation is still being sold today! Although the graphics are inferior and it has its fair share of tripe I have to admit there are still a few classics. Mind you in 5 years time the Playstation 3 and Xbox 2 will probably be out by then...
