Pretty sure this hasn't been done before, anyway...
Post in this thread made up headlines, subheadlines and excerpts from articles of news stories from alternative worlds/histories/films whatever. The fun is partly in imagining what the newspaper doesn't say, filling in the blanks of whatever situation you have made up.
You can make up your headlines as detailed or as long as you like, whatever helps create your narrative.
Here's a few examples that I stole from another forum I belong to:
United Kingdom gains independence from USA
Iceburg damaged in Titanic collision!
No Major News Today!
Tree falls on mime, nobody cares.
And here's one headline story I made, just to show that I can do it. :D No prizes for guessing which film inspired me...
Random attacks by gangs of crazed individuals in London.
Inexplicable atrocities commited. People being eaten alive by attackers in 'trance-like' state.
No one offical is prepared to comment, religious groups call it Judgement Day.
Panic on the streets of Britain. Goverment advises public to stay indoors.
Those infected can be stopped by removing the head or destroying the brain.
Do not approach anyone suffering from the disorder, even if they are family members or friends as they must be considered highly dangerous.
Where did they come from?
Conflicting theories as to the reason behind the 'zombie' outbreak.
Radiation from a downed satellite? GM Crops? Claim that a virus was spread by rage infested monkeys has now been dismissed by scientists.
