Oook You've got a Favourite ending to a film thread, but how about a worst ending?

Off the top of my head I'd say Pay It Forward... I mean this great film with really meaningful stuff.. then they must of run outta money and thought... "I know, let's just kill the kid and get a bunch of people with candles to go to his house.. wahey"

Oh yeah and "What Women Want".. great comedy, lousy dragged on boring ending :P.

Just my opinions of course.. feel free to flame me, hate me, send death threats.. errrrrrrrm

*runs*

worst ending ever, pretty bad film otherwise too

Basically this doctor amputates this woman's (Helena) arms and legs and keeps her in a box in his house. Taking her out when he needs a bit of lovin' or whatever. The story's a bit more complicated than that but you get the basic idea.

and at the end of this torturous 2 hour film the main character wakes up and it's all been a dream.

The end of cold mountain was pretty cack. He gets all the way home all of a sudden, then he ends up dead within about 10 mins of being home.. I mean talk of stupid. Actually I don't know why I'm complaining... if he hadn't have died it would have been cack as well. As it was it was quite ironic.. and slightly amusing..

The Birds.. I agree... yes, extremely disappointing.

The only good thing about the Matrix Revolutions was that it ended.

Any ending where "it was all a dream" is shit and the directors should be dismembered and stuck in a box.

Revolutions was a bad ending to the Matrix story, left to much in the dark.

LOTR : The Return of the King

I thought the film was ace. But some idiot told me that Frodo dies at the end, i was sitting in the cinema waiting for Frodo to kick the bucket.

I felt really let down by the end :(.

The ending of Blade Runner that was shown in cinemas (NOT the director's cut). So bad that it's far easier to get hold of the director's cut than the version that has a voice-over and an ending with Ford + love interest drving through pristine countryside (I only know about the latter thanks to a documentary).

Why don't you try reading the book beforehand? all 600+ pages of it?

my worst ending though HAS to be Attack of the Clones. that huge fight with all the lightsabers and flashy things, and the bloody Doku got away! huh?
-and why is Mace Windu the only Jedi with a purple lightsaber?

he was actually told in the first 2 films that he was going to die, it was his destiny.
so i already knew this after seeing the first one, and then confirmed it wen i saw the second.

28 Days Later.

I love that movie, but I hate how it ended.

I read an interview with one of the producers....there were two endings filmed but the one they decided to use was the nicey-nicey one because the US market prefers a happy ending. Supposedly.

Apparently the alternate ending was a bit horrific and depressing. :D Hopefully we'll see it as an extra on the DVD after it's been re-released a few times.

But Frodo DOES die. At the end when he sails away he's going off with Bilbo and the Elves to die.

A horrible ending was in Dogma, or any movie where the ending is dragged out for 30 minutes (I loved that movie though).

I really disliked the ending of "The Day after Tomarrow". It dissapointed me for many reasons (ULTIMATE SPOILER WARNING):

1) Not one MAIN protagonist died. Not one. Sure, the assistant killed himself, but he wasn't a main character. The girl, or the wife, or even the smart boy should have died in some way.

2) Everyone is happy at the end. That makes no sense. First of all, the boy whose brother was in Phili at boarding school, is now very possibly dead. His parents are probably dead too. I mean, hiking in the mountains as a deadly storm passes? AND living to tell about it? Ridiculous.

3) "Have you ever seen the air so clear?" Great graphics in the final scene and all, but well, that was just stupid. Sam's Father was predicting that we were to live another ice age. The Ice Age we know lasted many, many years, yet THIS ice age lasted only a couple of days. His information was incorrect, yet he never mentioned it.

More people needed to suffer, for instance, getting RIPPED APART by those wolves. Not just bitten.

This movie started out thrilling, to totally boring.

I must say Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

The ending in that shelter with "30 year old computers" was bad! While the rest of the earth is being blown up by nuclear missiles, John Connor and Whatshername are sitting there waitnig for the firing to stop. What they gonna do? Adam and Eve all over agains?! BAD ENDING.

edit-
The whole movie was also the same stuffs too. Terminators come in nakie, take somebody's clothes\car\gun\sunglasses, etc. They go find some other targets (Mrs. Terminator) cuz the primary aint right there. Then it's this.
1: mrs bad terminator finds primary target
2: Mr good terminator battles bad terminator
3: running away
4: battle again
5: running away
6: battle again
7: running away... WE NEED TO SAVE MY DADDY!
8: go see daddy... later daddy gets shot 4 times
9: run away... later kill the early terminator models
10: run away agin to a shelter
11: good terminator "Terminates" bad terminator
12: end of movie with them sitting there. Radio calls come in while every country in the world is being mushroom-clouded?
There is in no way going to be at Terminator 4. Not with that ending. Judgement day already happened now. It's over... I hope.

Oh the 28 Days later alternative ending was highly saddening, they played it on Sky Movies a while back, the alternative ending In the hospital at the end they couldnt save him and they just leave him there dead as a doornail, and they (the 2 women) just walk off down a corridor carrying stuff, It wasnt great but I still prefer it to the nicey everyone survives and gets rescued scene, I want death, death damn you

Having watched a couple of really cack films recently (through no fault of my own!), I'd like to share these gems:

1) Cabin Fever - Has to be THE worst film I have ever seen. Kids on holiday in a forest, get a disease that eats away at them. Right, ok, erm, that's about it really. It's that bad I can't even justify spoilers for it...PURE CRAPOLA.

2) Dawn of the Dead - Good God what a stupid ending. After surviving hoardes of zombies (who are amazingly quick and not the usual lurching types you see) and stuff they then set off on a boat to a remote island where they hope to find sanctuary only to discover that the island is full of zombies. Yay... pffft

I just bought the DVD, and I wasn't that impressed. It was Ok...but I couldn't help but think that Sam and his father should have been played by Harrison Ford and Toby Mcguire. Don't ask why :s

The end was..stupid. Not much to add to what you said but..

The whole human race basically goes to live in the third world right? Well..last time I checked, the third world was pretty baron, and the population of those countrys struggle to keep everyone fed as it is...now they ahve the whole human race at their backdoor wanting food? o__O Is this food suppost to appear out of thin air or what?

OOh no, because the American SuperAgriculturists can save the day.
Just something I noticed. Everyone in England dies, were on roughly the same latitude (or longitude) as New York and most of them survive. Hmmm, odd, no?

I know its been mentioned but LOTR: return of the kings had a good ending, unfortunatly they continued after the end instead of ending it where frodo gets carried away, ok some stuff like bilbo being carted off to the old folks home maby was needed to keep in line with the story, but a good ending was spoit by what i can only describe as americanisim, you know what i mean take for instanse Spiderman 2 ending: the slow mo running for no reason in wedding dress in a sunny perfet sickening world, it can spoil a ending of a movie and it did for me with LOTR return of the king.

Also implausible is the fact that Jeff Goldbum's character is able to whip up a virus that can disable the shields of the entire alien fleet having only had a few hours to study the alien's computer technology. But then, in the movies, all computers use the same OS and can run any software

Wasnt the other alternative ending The same as the one used, except there was no jim. Instead there was a chicken or something, thats what was shown on the DVD. That ending I much prefered, it leaves something to the imagination, like"wtf happened to jim." Much better than just saying, oh yea he diesd, the others live here, or, oh they all survived and got rescued. Much better to say two got rescued and the other well... you decide that bit.

Saw it on Dvd a few days ago. I suspect my dad bought it just because it has Kate Beckinsale in it. So he turns into a werewolf, kills Dracula, accidently kills Beckinsale, gets injected with antidote, gets really depressed, burns corpse, hallucinates seeing Beckinsale in clouds, then runs off into distance with the monk. Anything by M. Night Shyamalan, Director and producer of the films The Sixth Sense, Signs and The Village.

He has a Cameo in each one and all the endings are supposed to be surprising.

The Sixth Sense: Oh no! I'm really already dead!

Signs: Oh no! The humans have discovered My weakness is WATER! And Mel Gibson has had his faith in God restored, GARRRRGGGH!

The Village: Oh no! Everything I know and love is a sham!

I guessed the ending to the sixth sense when he's shot in the opening scene and the ending to the village when I noticed the "Secret boxes" were machine made and their "Safe-colour" cloaks were made of nylon. Either glaring continuity error or deliberate hint.

Worst ending are:

The Ring- It ended in the middle of nowhere.

Sean of the dead- ending was crappy. He goes to the shed and starts playing on the PS2 or X-box or whatever with his zombie flatmate?

And loads more... *sigh*

Ghost World

I loved the flick, i thought the characters were well developed, the story was original, and it had that dry humor that really gets me in the intellectual funny bone. but the ending... it pissed me off. You become endeared to these characters, and steve buscemi ends up psychotic and living with his mom???? and our lead role gets on a bus that isn't supposed to still be running, and THAT'S IT???? That's all I get for investing 2 hours with these characters???

I can watch that movie over and over, but i have to turn it off 10 minutes before it ends everytime. sends me into fits... in fact writing this has gotten me all worked up....damn movie.

End of Evangelion. The whole film was made because fans bitched about the end of the TV series, and it actually sucked more. The only thing that was worse than the ending was listening to 45 pseudo-intellectual anime geeks sit around and discuss the significance of particular scenes. No, you douche bags, the live action scenes don't mean anything but that the director was a loon. He wasn't committed because he was the shining example of sanity.

That movie is my all-time favorite. Everytime I see it, I quote along and end up laughing so hard I weep.

And then it ends, oh so awfully. They could have made it so funny. But, now it just seems like: "Oh well, we're running out of money...What can we do? Let's just arrest them all!"

Grr...

Other than that, the movie was fantastic!

ok they made an exact replica of the vault then they video taped them robbing it. they had the old dude slip that in the casinos videos. then when the casino called the swat team it was really the robbers who then went inside and took the cash. :weebl:

The House of Sand and Fog.

"Oh noes, I lost my house because some bank screwed up and I tried to get my house back and some guy already bought it and so I tried to get it back and so I had to kidnap the guy's some and he killed himself and so teh guy killed his wife and then himself and then I went to teh house and found he was dead so I went on the roof and sat there and I diodn't get the house back. Teh end."

And, of course, I have to add Ghost Ship.

Can't remember what happened at the end, but it's the most predictable film I've ever seen. I knew who the bad guy was instantly. Instantly.

The Day After Tommorow's ending was absolute crap. I mean, realistically, there couldn't have been a happy ending like
'oh! Ive figured out how to save the world from the ice age!'
'huzzah! we are all saved!' 'let's go for some hot cocoa in the thawed out new york city!'
but really, after the brilliant and incredible destruction of NY and LA, the movie went downhill.

Just something I noticed. Everyone in England dies, were on roughly the same latitude (or longitude) as New York and most of them survive. Hmmm, odd, no?

Hey, what about us Dutchies? We're about 3 meters away from floating the whole country, the storm would have surely killed every single last one of us, yet the film doesn't mention anything outside the USA... I thought the film was shit.

hehe, yeah, bit inaccurate...although everyone did die in New York apart from that lil student group...damn students...
Also, they did try (a little) to make it seem like the armageddon affected EVERYONE (*gasp* who'dve thunk it?) - they had snowing in Bombay at the start, and hail in Tokyo, but it was still very, very USised (what a word).

Star Wars Series:

.................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ................
Luke; I am your Father

Yeah, but it's funny how it still got all famous and poop.

If anyone's ever seen Envy, I don't think that the ending for that could have been worse.

god.. I can't decide which one to write about!

Dil To Paagal Hai

-- this is an Indian movie.. but in it the main characters don't get together. I was so disappointed! The main guy character ended up with the girl one I didn't like.

The only good thing about the Matrix Revolutions was that it ended.

Any ending where "it was all a dream" is shit and the directors should be dismembered and stuck in a box.
YEAH! Just cause the director may have dreamed it up then it all ended for him when he woke up doesnt mean he can do that to us! This is the time i wish that i bought that shotgun instead of a deck of nude card......um i mean......you probably should ignore that

The end of the first Lord of the Rings film was cack. It was a 'blink and you'll miss it' moment, I didn't realise it had finished!

Grease.

I don't get it. Why did Sandy change her whole life to impress a boy. What about her family-- do they care she's a cigarette smoking bimbo now??? Can someone please explain this to me...

Why would Frodo die? I would know because I've read the book.
I enjoyed Return of the King's ending anyway. :D

Alien: The film was fairly good, but then the ending was stupid in my opinion.
