I thought about putting this on a she's been thread, but either way feel free to put your normal mentalistic thoughts on here.

I know I usually put about when I am ill, like flu and things, but this is a bit more serious, although, I dont think as serious as Liz's may be!! (she'd better go to the hospitable!)

Anywhoo.

For about a week now, I have what is to be believed a rather bad kidney infection, which is extremely painful, and even though I have been taking Cefedroxil 500mg, the pain is still there, like a forever aching kidneys thing.

I was just wondering, if anyone's had this problem before or knows what it is I can do or knows someone who's had it at all and what it also could be, as Im slightly worried because, I am missing alot of college due to this and I really dont want to be kicked out for this bloody illness!!

But at the same time I cant help it.

Any thoughts would be really helpful :)
Thankyoou guys

I've had pretty severe kidney problems from the age of 5, one of my kidneys now only works about 5% due to scarring from infections. Tbh it sounds like a standard infection that you've got. If it was severe you wouldn't be able to move. If you are worried its not getting better I suggest you go back to your doctor though as sometimes the bacteria are immune to the first antibiotics you get given.
Hope you get better soon though. :)

Ohhhh thankyou :)
When I first started getting the twinges, I Was in agony, and I couldnt move at all, it was so immense, but all the antibiotics are doing is abling me to move, not get rid of the pain completely, it still really hurts.

I have to wait for the doctor to ring in a bit to see what they say, thankyou for the advice though. Glad Im not the only weebler otherwise Id be a bit lost!

No problem. Just be glad you're not like me. I was having so many infections I actually became immune to most of the antibiotics they were trying on me. Great fun.

Hope it clears up and doesn't leave you with any scarring on your kidneys. :)

hehe :) What does having the use of only 5% limit you to? anything?
Because my grandad had his kidney removed when he was 13 and he's 78 now and has lived with just one all that time enabling him to do everything =/
I love him :) he's awesome.

My friend had one of his kidneys fail, now he has a transplanted kidney from his mum. Apparently some people only have one that works properly and they dont even know it, which is why one of the tests they do looks at kidney function of the potential donor.

Oooo.
Thats not giving me hope but cool :D I wonder if only one of mine works now then =/ it seems to be mainly one side thats hurting, though both of them are.

My psychology teacher was telling me about how she got herself some kidney stones got driven to hospital, ambulanced to another hospital and had to have live surgery because she had eaten so couldn't be given drugs. She said it was the most excruciating pain she's ever been in. So yeah the future's bright for you people with kidney problems. My mum only has one.

Err.. The point of my post was to reassure you that if one is dodgy then you will be fine, not worry you more!

It doesn't really limit me except I cant have to much sugar or get drunk every weekend because both seem to induce my kidney infections. My other kidney is actually nearly twice the normal size because my other kidney started failing at such a young age that the other grew to compensate.
My mother actually had three kidneys and my great uncle had four. Which is really weird. Apparently the extra kidneys are about two thirds of the size of the normal ones and is literally just latched onto them. It's pretty bizarre.

Yup. 100% truth.

It's fucking WEIRD. but good for me if my other kidney decides to pack up.

Okie.

Update:

Which, I am more worried aboot to be honest.
But we shall see how it goes.

How odd. I'm currently suffering from some unknown kidney/bladder related problem myself.

I won't know what it is though for at least another month due to the scan being ages way though. I'm hoping for a no on stones, I really don't want to have to piss them out.
