Indeed there is a place called pant, but it's near Oswestry, Shropshire close to the Welsh Border.

The word means "hollow" in Welsh which is why it ends up in lots of place names.

And due to the way Welsh words are often done (with a Y in the middle), you'll find lots of pant-y (something) too EG Pant-y-bas
