Weird I know but germolene works.
Because its antiseptic and i found out that on the back it actually suggests it can be used for spots.

Wash your hands before touching your face. That helps. Wash them with soap and hot water.

Go to the doctor; the stuff they give you actually works.

Not true.
I've had acne for four years now? Everything they give me does fuck all. Except make my eczema flare up giving me a lovely mix of the two.
Depends what type they are; if it's acne, don't ask me. All I know is, if it's red and inflamed either leave it alone or use Freederm (a kind of gel, it's really good for that kind, usually gets rid of them inside a week).
Other than that, what the other guys said. Wash your hands and face with soap and water more often, and if you must squeeze the odd one, make absolutely certain you get everything out of it, then disinfect it with alcohol or similar.
Oh, and this might sound stupid, but don't bother even trying to squeeze them unless you're certain you can get everything out, or you'll just end up bruising yourself.

i still get the few odd spots, and i can say a bottle of medical alcohol is your best friend with this.

I used to get a few nasty spots when i was at school, even though it wasnt that bad, i pleaded with my doctor to give me something. She gave some gel stuff called Eryacne 4.
You just put it on your spot twice a day i think and it's really good shit. But it dries your skin out REALLY badly so you have to slap loadsa moisturiser on. I still have some left over which is good, cos whenever i see a slight red pimple under my skin, i put some on it and it's gone within 48 hours :p
Freederm works well for me, with clean and clear fast action gel for the big buggers that pop up from time to time.

My acne was really bad, all I did was go to the Doctor. Over the years, he's perscribed me three different cream/gels over the year and they where fantasic.
Also, don't touch them, seriously, biggest no no.

Aloe vera. Not bottled stuff, the plant itself. Buy one, pull of one of the leaves and rub the oil on your face/spot. It makes your skin quite sticky, but it works.

Better be a damn large plant for the amount of leaves I'd pull off. also acne can be affected by diet (So i hear) as well as stress. Well, I'm told. could be bullshit to try to make me eat healthier and not to get so stressed. eh.

Get some clean and clear, quick clear gel. Put it on each spot individually about 3 hours before you go to bed. About 2 hours later cover each spot and quite alot of the sorrounding face area with sudocream (its anti septic, and it works as a moisturiser) go to sleep with both on (sometimes gets nasty stains on your bed but oh well).
I did that for about a week and they were literaly all gone by the end of the week. Give it a go.

Oh and I forgot one of my most obvious. soap. Just a bar of soap. probably as it helped dry the skin, etc. I'd usually use it each time i went to the toilet. soon starting working. For some reason it doesn't now.

Toothpaste. I shit you not.
Toothpaste. I shit you not.this isn't bad, but if you can just shove some sudocrem on them, you will notice a difference within the hour.
Putting some on an hour before I take a shower has seriously helped mine.
now I just need to get rid of these scars -_-

cant believe no one has said anything about diet and lifestyle. eating healthily and regular exercise will help reduce the amount of spots occuring. cut out junk food like McD's or Burger King. these do fuck all good to ur skin. also lead a less stressful life :)

Squeeze them, honest its the best.
On a more serious note, do you smoke? If you touch your face afterwards, you can get spots, also ever noticed how stoners always have spots around thier mouths? From bongs. Always keep it clean!

Not true. Squeezing can be a good quick fix, aside from the bleeding and minor puss. but they can then leave bad scarring on the skin which can be a pain to loose.

Toothpaste. I shit you not.
This.
I rarely get any sort of pimple, so i never buy face washes or pimple creams. But when I do get one, before i go to bed, dab a bit of toothpaste on it, wash it off in the morning.

No no no! You should never put toothpaste on your face!
The best thing to do is pamper your skin. Try a face mask and steaming your face. Also having a mango at least once a week should do the trick, in the mean time to get rid of most of them stick to your choice product and use it religiously, it might not be the fastest remedy but it does your skin better in the long run.

Yeah i tried toothpaste for a while but it really damages your skin and can make spots more imflamed and harsh.
I use sudocream and tea tree spot stick :) as it doesnt dry your skin out but dries up the spot, and the sudocream helps because its antiseptic

Yeah, don't squeeze them, as some say. I have quite a lot of scars...bio-oil may help...

One of the main contributors to spots is hormones, hence teenagers getting them more often than any other age group. Unfortunately, this is something you cannot control.
Spots are caused by bacteria feeding on the natural oil that your skin produces, normally the oil isn't a problem, but when hormone levels are unbalanced i.e. teens and stress, it can be.
My main advice is to drink plenty of water, it is essential to healthy skin. You can take vitamin E supplements as well if you aren't sure you're getting enough in your diet. Evening primrose has been shown to help control hormone levels too.
If you are having serious problems, doctors can prescribe antibiotics, either are a cream/lotion for topical use, or as pills. Typically tetracycline is used, or a variation on it. These can help get rid of the bacteria that cause the spots.
I would also advise not over washing your face. You may think you are helping by getting rid of the unwanted oil, but you could make things worse. Your body will notice that the oil has gone, and may produce even more, making the problem worse. I personally wash before I go to bed with just water, and when I get up with an exfoliating face wash. I also wash after sports etc.
If your face feels dry afterwards, use a moisturiser, otherwise your body will produce more of the oil, as I explained above.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head...
EDIT: Oxy-on-the-spot contains the strongest anti-spot ingredient available without a prescription, and can work really well.

You bastard visioneer, I was going to advise to drink tonnes of water :p
Ah fuckit, I still advise to drink lot of water (at least two litres a day). It really helped me out.
Cut down on junk food, especially chocolate, because when I ate it continuously for a week, I found that I was mega-spotty by the weekend.
Finally, just use soap and hot water on your face, then once you are done, use cold water to help your pores close up again. Obviously don't use boiling/freezing water, but the cold water afterwards helps prevent dirt and sweat get into your skin.
Grow a beard over them. :pI hate shaving now, because I can see how terrible my skin is when all the hair comes off.
