An actor (because of Home Alone) AND a palaeontologist, as I loved dinosaurs. What am I now? A musician.

I did perform all over the place in plays as a young teenager though. Still kinda want to, but music is performing as well.

I've always wanted to be a writer. And now I'm well on the way, since I'm doing English and such at uni.

Who knows what kind of writing I'll end up doing though. Maybe many types.

i'm surprised at you all, how can a thread like this get to two pages without:

I wanted to be... a Lumberjack!

anyway, i used to enjoy drawing quite a bit, so i said i wanted to be a cartoonist, then (in year 7 for some reason) everyone's parents started getting really worried that no one had decided what they wanted to do, so me and my friends just said we wanted to be lawyers (didn't know the difference between solicitors and barristers at that point). truth is, i never did have anything i particularly wanted to be.

i'm now halfway to becoming a physicist, and i still don't know exactly what i'm going to do when i've finished...

i'm now halfway to becoming a physicist, and i still don't know exactly what i'm going to do when i've finished...

A physicist?? Wow...i dont even think i know what that envolves but it sounds extremely posh and difficult....kinda like a brain surgeon.

I feel so boring now. Working in law is so dull...i might just scrap the whole idea and run away with the circus or become a....nuclear scientist.

I wanted to become a politician. I was going to become better then the prime minister during that time and make life better for my family. Not that I'm interested in politics nowadays. I just know that I am very left wing but have no knowledge to back it up if I was to engage in a political debate.

I wanted to be a vet the whole time I was at school, right up until I got offered a place at vet school, and it was shit. Seriously, I went for the interview and they spoke to me like I was some kind of freak for being from state school. And then they looked all disgusted when I said I played electric guitar.

So anyway, luckily I had a back-up plan and ended up at Reading doing Animal Science, which is like veterinary for people who aren't inbred Hooray Henrys. Hopefully I'm either going to end up working in the racing industry or in animal nutrition- sounds boring but I'm a geek, and the only person on my course who can do maths, so I think it'll be good.

Actually, ever since I can remember I've wanted to be a pirate (secretly of course, until very recently) and for the past couple of years I've had an urge to be in a glam-rock band.

Jesus, even my fantasy jobs are shit...

I always wanted to be an inventor, but then I realised I had two major problems:
1) I don't have any original ideas. Literally, none. All my ideas are conglomerations of everything I've ever seen or heard, or takes on other peoples ideas. I know they say it's only 1% inspiration, but you still need that much to get going, and I just don't get it.
2) Whenever one of my slightly stolen ideas was any good, someone else would beat me to it because I didn't have access to the resources necessary to make said thing.

In all honesty, I still want to be an inventor even now, it's just that I'll never be able to make it work as a full time job, as I don't have enough practical ideas.

I never really particularly wanted to be anything when I was younger. I still don't really know what to do with my life, either.

My secret dream, however, is to form a band and spearhead some form of progressive/art rock revival.

I also said I would never ever be a teacher :(

Funny that. When I was in secondary school I'd always said how much I'd hate teachign etc. etc. and now that is what I am hoping to achieve in the next 5 years.

There are loads of things I wanted to be when I was younger though, it changed so often. Formula 1 driver (hah, I haven't even learnt to drive!), Bus Driver, Train Driver, Policeman (oh dear jesus no), Priest (wtf?), Chopping down trees man (I was a bastard child, clearly), Fireman, Doctor, Journalist (more recently in secondary school, until I decided it was too much work for too little gain), Computer Games designer. That's all the major fads I can think of tho.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I wanted to be a builder for a while, but then the builders at our house poured cement on my school shoes and then I cried and decided I didn't want to be a builder, but a few weeks after that we had a carpenter/joiner in, and I decided I would like to be a carpenter. Funnily enough I am working as a building labourer at the moment and it's a bit rubbish. Long hours, have to get up too early and because I'm the dogs body I end up digging all the sodding time. Has it's perks, and I've always quite liked manual labour in a funny sort of way, but wouldn't do it for more than a year. I still wouldn't mind being a carpenter though, and I suppose if I really wanted to pursue it I probably could, now.

Hopefully I'm either going to end up working in the racing industry or in animal nutrition.

That sounds interesting, not geeky! Guy from my year is in England now doing animal science/zoology? He loves tigers and it was so cool to see him get pictures of himself with tigers and stuff. Instant achieval of dreams and things! Doubtless it'd be nicer to work with animals than with people!

[edit] Didn't mean to have so many exclamations, I don't usually talk like that.

I always wanted to be a paleintologist beacuse I thought these were uberly cool.
http://img3.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/fbc56de19e.jpg (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/)

(I still kind of do :D)

But now I'm doing law because i figure that's one way I can help people and make the world a slightly better place. Also I always wondered if paleintology would hold my interest. Sure it'd be awesome to find dinosaurs and all that jazz, but you'd spend a lot of time in the desert. And its warm there, really warm :(

Oh! I deviated a little and wanted to be an archeologist for a while, but that was mainly because of Indiana Jones and Daniel Jackson from stargate :D

I don't think i ever thought about it when i was little that seriously. perhaps being a writer is what i wanted most when i was very young.

For awhile i wanted to be a vet and I even picked my bachelors program with that in mind (pre-vet/med biologyish thing). but i decided veterinary school is not what i want.

now i want to be in graphic design. or art in general. maybe i still want to write a book someday
