Is there any love for the master bowman of Nottingham here?

I liked it to start with, but got bored with it quite quickly.

Which Robin Hood are we talking about? Errol Flynn, Disney, or Mel Brooks?

I watched about two or three episodes of the first series, but then got very bored of it. From what I remember, that was the general feeling on these forums when it was on last year.

The trailer for season two looked promising, and then I heard the dialogue. Ouch. I'd probably give it a chance if there wasn't so much else I want to watch as well.

Pff, who cares about how good the program is? Any chance to drool over Richard Armitage for half an hour is half an hour very well spent.

The BBC have made a new version.
Not really a fan to be honest, the characters just seem kind of dull to me.

Eugh, the new Robin Hood.
An epic miscalculation on the part of the BBC, designed to fill up the time when Doctor Who isn't on. Great. The acting is pretty terrible, bar one or two actors in there, the writing is just awful. Terrible dialogue, terrible plotting. The thing that offends me the most, though, is how incredibly low the production values appear to be. None of the sets or costumes are at all convincing. It's like they wanted to make something flashy and fast a la spooks but didn't quite have the energy, and were left with a heap of shit and those place names flying in like arrows.
So yeah. Hate it.

Fair enough. But in what way was is "miscalculated"?

Clearly someone liked it though, else they wouldn't have made second series, I guess.

I watched it on Sunday at my dads house for the first time.
It was enjoyable.
In that, everything that Robin Hood wasnt in was good I mean.
The dude from Band Of Brothers playing the German made me laugh :)
Other than that though it never really got my attention.

I'm thinking perhaps that some people may be forgetting that it is a family programme and needs to be understandable to children as well.

But that's not the point. The simplicity of it is only a minor problem. What I would say has already been said by BaaBaa. Poor acting, poor costumes, poor sets and rubbish special effects.
I saw the ending of season 1, when they are all walking in a line smiling at each other and I thought "no....they couldn't.." and then they all jumped in the air shout "yeah!", the camera freezes that frame and the credits rolled. I actually wept a little at how terrible that ending was

It started well in the first series as he tried to make his comeback and win the hearts of the people. Once he did that, however, it just became "lets rob the castle" every week.
For example, last weeks sypnopsis was Robin finds out the sheriffs intentions are anything but honourable and decides to rob the castle. Could be any episode. Seems a tad devoid of any new plot.

Do the guards still wear 'chainmail' made out of knitted wool?
