I know what you mean about why can't we just give 'em the rice, but I guess it's about making people aware through different means too, and encouraging sponsorship and advertising funding.

and often if you don't know a word, but can think of another that starts or ends with the same few letters, and know what that means you can often work it out.

you can tell that this is an american thing, cos they're being a bit loose with the thesaurus and also using usage more than definition when they say 'means'.

I hope no one is actually using this to increase their vocabulary, since half the things don't actually mean what they say they mean, but are rather single usages that don't cover the rest of the meaning.

Exactly. It's spreading the game which means spreading the amount of ads. If every game was generating ads for that purpose the result would be huge.

They probably give an amount of rice for every question because every question right or wrong generates an ad, but makes people competitive on the amount of rice they want to make.

As a student, may I say living every day on rice isn't so bad. Especially when you a/ get used to it and b/ have some sauces on it every so often.

I'm not even taking the piss, I have had to live on 88c kilo bags of rice for a lot of last year.
