I'm only getting this game at Christmas (unless by some miracle I win the poll competition) and I don't want the Wii thread to be clogged full of spoilers. Post all you MP3 stuff here please.
Will do.
Man, I'm getting it Friday (Hopefully, I need money first...) and I'll be going away the Monday after D:
I'm gonna have to cram ALOT of playing into that time!

I have it pre-ordered but I'm going away Friday, so hopefully play.com will send it early like they tend to do and I'll have it on Thursday to get a day of play in before I leave.
shit hasn't this been out for like months?

Right now, Metroid is the best game on the Wii. Tons of replay. Even my sister got on it at one point, and she hates games.
Ridley finally dies, no way he can even get back after this. Dark Samus is, obviously, history. And, unless you've paid particular attention to the scans, the last boss will take you by surprise.

Yeah, Dark Samus is done for but Ridley does come back. According to the official chronology of Metroid games released by Nintendo, the Prime Trilogy takes place directly after the original Metroid/Zero Mission, it is then followed up by Metroid II: Return of Samus (GB), then Super Metroid (SNES), and then finally Metroid Fusion (GBA). In both Metroid II and Super Metroid, Ridley is quite alive. In Metroid Fusion he's an X-Parasite clone. ;)

I haven't played Metroid Prime 3 yet, but the video on the Wii MP3 video channel thing and the boss in Prime 1 were Meta-Ridley, presumably some kind of robotic or mutagenic creation based on Ridley and not Ridley himself? Or am I horribly wrong?

It's Ridley revived with cyborg body parts.

Woo for Meta-ridley
I totally kicked his arse.
Also the grappling hook thing is awfully satisfying.
I'm on Bryyo at the moment, been wandering round for a little while now. Bryyo is awesome, I've seen several dead giant golems, and I have a feeling ones gonna be after my arse soon. The lizards and Space Pirates are amoung my favorite enemies so far, they are awesome. Speaking of enemys, the bosses I've faced are just awesome...the Meta-Ridley boss is one of the best and most intense bosses I have ever gone up against in the Prime series.
So far its totaly superb, seriously. Voice acting has added alot to the game, it feels that much more real than it did before, and just walking round that huge ship and playing with the buttons in your own ship is sooooo sweet.
I have the PED suit and the grapple whip and swing...the grapple thing is freaking awesome, seriously!
I have 2 friend vouchers so far so as soon as someones a willing we can trade 'em!!

I don't know why they took long, since they even left "Counter-Clockwise" in. What sort of regionalisation is that? At least we have lifts.
Jay, have we added each other's Wii Codes yet? I have about five tokens left.
I'm up to the Golem, which I'd assume is the last boss in Bryyo. Contrary to its scan, it doesn't go down when all four of its balls are destroyed.

No it doesn't. You have to destroy the balls, explode the ice/ phazon on its feet, and then shoot into the holes where the balls were, while trying to stop it getting more balls.

Nah. The red bits are just the crispy outer shell of the gooey phazon centre. So really the balls aren't destroyed until you overload the phazon.
Booyah.

What makes you think that? It seems to me that the balls simply plug the holes, to stop the phazon being exposed normally.

Also does anyone know if I can switch between different beams? Not that I really need to but it might come up...
How do you get the green tokens? Do you trade the black ones?
EDIT: Yes, yes you do. Jay and TLS, I've sent you one each, cos I had two and you're the only guys on my friends list with the game apparently. ^_^
And Norbington, the beams are stacked in this game like in the SNES game. So once you get a new beam, its functionality is added on top of the old beam to avoid switching.

I wasn't too keen on the opening bit as it was so cinematic with speech and all, Metroid has always been about Samus being isolated in these weird worlds, but now I'm past that bit, it's back to being 10/10 amazingness, whereas the start was just 9/10. Although damn that Ridley boss fight was epic.
I love this game so far, but can I ask about hyper mode... what's the drawback to stop you from using it? As far as I can tell you can just keep booting it up again and again and owning everything with it. Is there no kind of ammo loss, or health loss or something from using it? It just seems to be making things a bit easy and I'm worried I'm missing something.
Also, it's nice to play a Metroid Prime game where Samus doesn't trip over and lose all of her abilities at the start.

Anyone else find the Elysia boss real easy? It only took me one attempt, which I did not expect...
Obviously though the Phazon Infected Space Pirate Homeworld is going to be a walk in the park...
Also WTF is with the GFS Valhalla? I suppose I can't get through all that until the end when I get sent on the 2 hour fetch quest for fuel cells the IGN review mentioned...

Each time you use it, it uses up a whole energy tank... Although that's only if you use up all the phazon energy you get given. if you only use half of it you get half of the health energy back. Also if you stay in hypermode too long you start to go corrupt and you have to deplete all your phazon energy or die...
So a few drawbacks.
Also, I agree with the having everything at the beginning... it's a lot more realistic then "Oh noes! You walked into a wall and lost all your abilities even though you can fight Bionic Space Dragons and still keep all your gear intact!!" Plus you feel pretty badass from the start, which is nice.

Delicious screenshot tool.
Completed around 30% of the game, loving it so far apart from the back-tracking. Although thats probably just me personally, I can't stand repitition in anything.
Some of those friend tokens are quite well hidden - as well as the standard "Achievied 600 kills" ones, there are also ones like "Stylish kill", which I got for walking straight past a bunch of enemies in Skytown and blowing up the bridge they were standing on instead of killing them normally.

I think that's your battery for your wii-mote. An in-game battery display. I thought it was a danger display at first, so when it was blinking red I'm thinking "there's nothing out here!" Then my batteries died, I replaced, and now they're green.

Or are the bosses getting easier?
So far I'm still in Skyworld and have just added the grapple onto my ship as well as picked up one of the bomb parts.

A nice little trick I use to get those little fuckers real easy: shoot 'em a few times to catch their attention and get them to charge at you. When their about to shoot at your face, lob an ice missile or two at 'em and blow 'em to hell.

When you're in an area that's outdoors, you can call an airstrike and do a ton of damage to any enemy in the room. The expansions just kick up the number of times you can call airstrikes by one for each. Weird thing is, the ship has the mini-factory to produce the stuff, but you only regain these missiles by collecting them in the field or returning to your ship.
That is weird. But hey..I guess I was right huh :D.

We'll I'm on the hardest one avalibe in the start...but I happen to know you can unlock a hard mode called "Hypermode" (I'm not sure of the mode, but I know theres a hard mode) so I'm assuming I'm on "medium".

Just about to go through the wormhole and kick Dark Samus' arse and apparently I need to go and find a dozen energy cells so I can explore the shipwreck...
I just spent an hour exploring Bryyo for a hidden pumping station. No success.
Fortunately I have but 3 already so it shouldn't take too long.
Still rather annoying though...

That one on Bryoo is annoying as hell. I'd already found the cell on my map, and there's a ship drop point near to the cell, and an item close by that can be picked up. Obvious answer: Pick it up and drop it at the drop point.
Actual answer: Pick up that item, which is a stone head, drop it onto a statue, which opens some doors, go through one of the doors and extend a bridge (getting an energy tank from the jumpy thing above you) then go to the other side of the planet to get to that room from the other side, and extend the bridge. Then... uh, there's somewhere you can pick an item up from near there, probably. And then drop it near the energy cell, climb up there, and get it out.
I seem to get quite vague near the end. :|

Lemme help elaborate on that. In Bryyo, go to the Marines base and go through the door to the three golems. Get the one that needs the Plasma Beam to open up the path and you'll find a room with a big-ass golem in the background missing its head. The head is in a room by the large war golem you free from those explosive vines, you have to go around and open up a side door so you can access the passage high up. Once you put the head on top of the big-ass golem, he'll open up an incomplete path where you're supposed to spin around the track. From there, you're supposed to leave that part of Bryyo and go to where the shield generators are. Get to the second one and in one of the alcoves is a small generator machine thing. Call the ship to pick it up and go through the little path that just opened up. You'll find yourself on the other side of the incompleted path just next to the big-ass golem, so fix the path and make your way back to the war golem you freed again. Drop the generator in the very top of the room, to the left of the cylindrical, industrial pump-looking thing. That'll expose the cell, so just make your way up top and it's yours.
Add me to your friends list so I can send you some friend vouchers.Done. I'll be playing Metroid for a bit though so WiiConnect24 won't update you until this evening.

I was dreadfully disappointed by the last boss. It only killed me once :(
Also I don't think I've got any special endings... Yup only 72% complete. Gay.
Also did anyone else think the Admiral was secretly pleased when the guy said there was no contact from Samus? I definitely saw a little smile in the corner of his mouth... I was expecting a great big twist or something but apparently not...
EDIT: I just watched the 100% ending on youtube (I know how naughty of me). Anyone know who the mysterious ship belonged to? I am guessing they plan to make a new series/trilogy or perhaps release a new game on the DS. Lets hope for the former.

Before the Nintendo boards went down, a lot of people thought the ship at the end of the 100% ending was Sylux's, from the DS game Metroid Prime Hunters. As for the Admiral smirking, if you read some of the Space Pirate logs, they refer to a contact inside the Marines. I'm thinking the Admiral was their contact, but why I don't know.
I'm on the fetch quest and I think, for once, its been done very well. I had all but three before I got the objective so I could be a little biased. Two more left!

Two more left! You don't even need all of them, only four. And it doesn't even matter which ones. You pick up three following normal gameplay, and the fourth is easily obtainable right before you go inside the Valhalla, under the crashed fighter. The rest are just to access rooms with pick-ups in.
Ah I didn't realise that...I thought it was a little weird how far it let me go without all of them. I just this second finished it...74% done (Wtf, I wanted 75 at least...I gotta go item hunting again I guess!).

You know what the best thing is about Ridley?
His name.
I mean, he's a humongous dragon creature thing, he's the leader of one of the most evil, powerful races in the universe and he was directly responsible for Samus' mother's death. And his name is Ridley. You have Kraid, that sounds like a big evil monster. You have Mother Brain which is great because it's so sinister with how 'pleasant' a name it is and then you have Ridley. It's like having a villain called Jim.
He was named after Ridley Scott though seeing as Metroid owes so much to Alien.
