Went to see him last night at the Pomegranate Theatre in Chesterfield and thought he was very good.

We get a few big names at the theatre in Chesterfield doing their warm-up tours, trying out new material before they go on to do bigger tours at bigger venues (saw Jack Dee last year, doing a similar thing).

The questions from the audience bit was a little formulaic, although still very funny and finishing off playing lots of clips from songs, dissecting the lyrics and saying "what's that all about", contained one or two gems.

All in all, worth going to see.

Is he the guy who is a team captain on 8 out of 10 Cats and steals all his amusing anecdotes off the internet?

White haired chap, northern accent.

That'll be the one.

He's also in Phoenix Nights. Jerry St Clair

I tried soooo hard to get tickets to see him at the Comedy Store in Manchester (my new favourite place to spend an evening!) but they had sold out. I was so disappointed. He's one of my favourite comedians next to Peter Kay and Bill Bailey. His first stand up DVD was fantastic. I'm ever so jealous you got to see him :(

I am going to see Jimmy Carr in his place though, but I don't really like him. He scares me.

There are still a few more gigs before the end of the tour - have you checked the dates on the unofficial site? (http://davespikey.com/news39.html)

in Chesterfield

Totally off topic but it's nice to see fellow Chesterfield-ers knocking about :)

I take it you are from round these parts then.

I'm not a real Chesterfielder, only moved to Chez Vegas (Wingerworth actually) about 6 years ago so I'm still a bit of an Incomer.
