A few weeks ago I got RE1 (PSX) and it's not as good as I remember it to be from when I was 11, but someone at work is urging me to go get RE4, so is it a good game or is it shit? He told me it doesn't have any Zombies or Umbrella, so it's already at -2 as it is.

It is the only Resident Evil game to hold my interest for an extended period of time. Seriously. I enjoyed the films more than the earlier games.

Honestly? I love it..
I never been a resident evil fan, tbh I used to get scared shitless by the first few when I was a young one making me a little hesitant to play it but it was so very worth it.
Its more of an action game than a horror in the sense that its not zombies but mutated villagers infected with a parasite. This can still cause many a jumpy moment. But from the first few moments of playing it I was utterly amazed and almost shocked at what I missed out on for PS2 (I went straight to the Wii version). But trust me...Tis a very very good game and well worth renting if not buying :)

Easily one of the best games of the last generation. You'll hate it for about 30 minutes while you get used to it, and from then on you'll love it, I promise.

Play the Wii version if possible.

Its superb...but I still long for the return of zombies. Umbrella is mentioned alot mind, even though its been disbanded (RE4 is 4 years after RE2).

FYI, Umbrella Cronicles looks like it'll show how Umbrella crumbled.

[EDIT] I should add that I adored all the previous Resident Evil games and personally feel this one suppasses them all.

Replay value is through the roof, graphics are very good, and just about every aspect of the game is near flawless. Except for the confusing backstory, but that should be explained away in 5.

Resi 4 is one of those games that everyone has to play. I loved the old ones, and was a bit sceptical about the change in gameplay, but it's a fantastic game. You have to play it.

Can't unless UC is released on PS2 :rolleyes: I want to want a PS3, but I just don't.

My opinion - RE4 doesn't really have the atmosphere of the previous games, but in every other way is a lot better.
And that's just the PS2 version. My friend has it on the Wii, and he reliably informs me that it makes a brilliant game better. Not that that's probably relevant to you, but I'm excited.

RE4 for Wii is a wonderful game. Still playing it, almost have everything. professional = suck is all I can say.

It's so damn old school, which feels entirely incongruous when married to the beautiful visuals.

relsident evil 4 was the best game of *year it was out in*, it was brilliant
however you may as weel wate a bit and get resi 5 which seems to have the exact same game but in africa and your guy is a slitely different ameriacan, one man army killing machine. acctualy, i may as well start a whole new thread for resi 5 (if there isn't already)
