View Full Version : Oblivion Glitch

I'm currently going a bit insane over a glitch, I usually wouldn't ask. Armand disappears due to a quest and there's a glitch where he doesn't return to finish the quest. I've tried to get kicked out and find him to pay the fine, I've looked for him in the warehouses and I've gotten no result.

I have tried everything I could and waited weeks in the game world for him, I just don't know what to do. Is it fixable or should I just give up on that whole guild? What a waste... All that infamy for nothing!

Thought about waiting 'til 12 behind the house?

That or, if it's the one where he's trying to track you down, stand still.

I've waited til twelve for about a fortnight of the game. It's the quest where you frame the woman with the sculpture in the house, and heironymus lex finds it. In the meantime I'm having a go at the mage's guild, it's kind of a pity to have to leave the theives guild as it is... Wanted to see the quests involving the grey fox ;)

I do remember a reported glitch with the theives guild. There was a PC update to stop that, but if you're playing on console you might be fucked.

Hopefully you have multiple saves? I always back up on oblivion. And yes finishing the Thieves Guild really is worth it.

Yeah I say sux2bu for not having a backup.

Similar thing happened to me and the mages guild, I've done the quests and it's still saying I've got them left to do.

Also I've been kicked out of the guild for killing one of them and I cba doing the fetchquest to get back in so whatev'.

All my saves disappeared for no apparent reason. :(

I'm pissed off. Lost the character I'd been playing for 100 hours.

Is oblivion really good?

Im trying to decide wether to buy it or not.

Mat^

It's a fantastic game in terms of depth, quite honestly I'd be suprised if you ever "finished" it there's so much to do, I'd thought I'd done everything and yet there's still people coming up to me asking me to do stuff for them.

The box with knights of the nine and the shivering isles would be a decent purchase if you're thinking about it, Shivering Isles is upwards of 20 hours extra play and NoTN is about 10, this is addition to a game wherein I'm 100 hours in and aren't even nearly started with the "main" plot.

That being said there are a bunch of glitches like the ones mentioned, but it shouldn't be a problem if you keep regular saves.

Also, make an argonian, they're the best.

I really don't get why people like the whole Elder Scrolls series at all, to me it's too much running around with not a whole lot of consistency and massive imbalance issues... you start off as powerful as a kitten, then five minutes later you can beat everything at once with your eyes closed and one hand tied behind your back.

Pfft.

Argonians get resistances to poison and disease, as well as this can breathe underwater.

It's obvious mannn.

Wood Elves have good resist disease powers and are sick with a bow, also the best potential to be fast and athletic.

Game is a lot better with Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul.

Adds a lot of stuff.

I'll probably buy this once I get my cd drive working again ¬_¬

Remember to be a Wood Elf (Archer) and kill every argonian you see, for it could be Mat^.

I dont like argonians.

They look like fishies/lizards.
Wood elfs are kind of homoerotic I might go them.

Dark elf + Apprentice Star-sign best IMO. If you wanna be the most powerful fucker around.

Once you gain access to the alter of Godmaking Spellmaking, you can nuke the place silly. Not to mention if you make a spell that casts full conjured Daedric armour and sword for the maximum time, and make 100% shield for max time, you can basically whitewash anything.

But thats just me. I like to make a godlike character and run into each city killing everyone possible in fun ways since I've pretty much done most of the quests by now (no doubt I've missed afew, and some have been made impossible due to my killing habit)

Of all things, it was a disappointment compared to morrowind. The oblivion game is so much less alive than morrowind was and the only thing it really features that morrowind does not have is better graphics.

If you've played morrowind, though, it is still worth the cash you put into it. But beware! There are no flying magics in oblivion like there was in morrowind, which sucks. Bigtime.

It's all about being a dark elf and making yourself jet black. And then getting gear that pushes your chameleon level over 100% and doing everything without getting seen ever. Yeeeah.

Good luck finding a helm. Seriously I've never seen one in all my time playing that can be found on a corpse.

Helms in general don't seem to drop that often at all, do they?

Mr.L.Xp

Seems so. Best bet is to go into a dungeon with vampires in and spam luck potions.

Be an Orc damnit! I somehow managed to kill the Lord of Bravil so I've screwed the main quest. :(

I love being a thief. Sneaking into the local jewlery shop and raiding it for all it's worth. My fave heist was collecting those artifacts for that blokey in the Imperial City, getting paid tons for it, then sneaking in and stealing them.

Oblivion is best for folk with hyper imaginations. I can keep myself amused just following someone around all day, watching from the shadows, then assisinating them in the dead of night with my trademark arrow-up-the-nose.

I'm a sick sick boy.

First goblin of the game plus two hours of sneaking and jumping while watching American Dad meant I left the area as an apprentice of acrobatics and a journeyman of sneak. :D

Since Oblivion installs to the PS3's hard drive, I have a cunning plan to search around the HDD and see if I can manually install mods on it. Probably not, but I like tinkering about and breaking all my expensive toys.

I'm trying to figure out how to get my marksman up real high, because it's embarrassingly low and I'd like to shoot things in the face.

RobDonkey
05-11-2007, 07:23 PM
Just keep shooting things (remember to retrieve your arrows).

u know the part at the end where you fight in the imperial city aand all of the daedra come out well when i did that the people with me didn't show up... but i stll OWNED as a lvl 7 Nord!!!:eng101::eng101::bb::bb::):notworthy

Mat^
06-11-2007, 08:02 AM
Yeah that's because of leveling?

The game doesn't really get progressively harder, it just brings the enemies up along with you, if you're at a decent standard of equipment an have enough potions you should be fine whatever.

Mr.L.Xp
06-11-2007, 12:37 PM
Whats the highest level achievable? I heard if differs from PC to 360

Highest I've bothered to get up to is 56.

Also got Umbra at lvl 1 lol.

Level 14! Woo! I rock!

I hate the AI on that game. I put on the Gr"a"y Fox's cowl so an Imperial guardsman charged at me waving his sword about screaming about how evil I was then I took it off and he stopped in front of me and proclaimed: "We're always on duty!".

I think its supposed to do that. the cowl is enchanted so that when the user takes it off, anyone watching loses their memory of the user wearing it and taking it off.

Or something like that. Ask Wiki.

Mat^
06-11-2007, 05:04 PM
Yeah the grey fox's cowl boosts your bounty, it attributes all the crimes commited by the grey fox to you, you can pay the fine for it, but when you take the mask off and put it back on the bounty is the same.

TheSheep
06-11-2007, 05:25 PM
Mat do you train your marksman 5 points at each level (by train i mean purchasing levels of a trainer) if you dont it would be a very easy nd quick way of doing it. Remember u can only 'train' 5 skill points at each level.

helms and gauntlets i find to be hard to find.
has anyone else played as a Nord Warrior? mine was amazingly strong especially with Knights of the Nine equipment. and you can get to way beyond level 56 but after a while it requires losing skill points by going to jail.

Yeah, I know. But I just found it amusing how he ran up madly then said something utterly irrelevant.

Would anyone know where or how I can get a list of the files and/or folders that Oblivion installs on the PC, or could someone possibly list the folders, and maybe an example of the file types Oblivion uses? I need to know for my cunning, probably futile plan.

doctor_fruitbat

For modding. Just a list of folders would be really useful; I don't have the internet at home at the moment, so I can't just pirate the game and find out myself. :(

RobDonkey

I know someone that can do that but I can't myself. I'll ask him when I get the chance.
