Dreamworks next big animated feature.

Pros: the animation in the trailer looks beautiful. The design and detail, shading and lighting, it all fits together and looks nice. Very coherent art style. Also, none of the characters look HIDEOUS. Dreamworks movies usually have at least one or two characters who are hard to look at. AKA Shrek babies AKA everything from Shark Tale. All the characters in this look well designed.

Cons: the trailer doesnt show us jack shit, but thus far this looks kinda....dumb. And as much as I like Jack Black, I really dont like this whole "celebrity voice actors" thing. Honestly, do Julia Roberts and Dustin Hoffman have distinct voices that are good for cartoons? no. It's star power for the sake of Star Power.

Hopefully though, this is as good as it is pretty. Shrek 3 was such a massive disappointment, and it seems most of the reviews for "BEE MOVIE" are less than stellar, to say the best.

i agree with you about the celebrity voice acting, i don't think jack's voice works very well with that panda character.

also i'm getting sick of all these 3d animal movies, with the power of 3D animation you can create entirely new worlds, completely different alien species and such, it seems like these studios just choose a bunch of random animals and jam them into a story.

It's the usual 'useless runt manages to shine' rubbish they usually cook up, as far as I've heard. I'm guessing it'll be average-ish.

I gotta disagree with the Bee Movie thing. I saw it and loved it. I never laugh out loud but some of the stuff on that was genuinely funny. I liked Chris Rock's character especially.

I probably won't see this as I don't usually go for animated films, Bee Movie was a one off.

And let's be honest, cartoons are generally aimed at kids - so for that reason, cute bear cubs and the like attract and appeal to the dominant audience, making the cartoon sell more thus bringing Dreamworks LOTS OF MONEYS.

This is the major problem with dreamworks films ever since Shrek. Pixar tend to use interesting voices that fit the characters. Dreamworks on the other hand, tend to use names that look good on a movie poster.

Give us Starfox furries and gunz. That won't be cute.

Maybe if they made Kung Fu Panda with Bloody Roar-style monsters ripping shreds out of each other, that would cater for the adult market. Male 18-34, that's the key demographic.
