I Want A 360, but...

OK, I kinda want a next gen console, preferrably a PS3 but they're gonna die off :( So I'll go with a 360 :), but are they capable of wireless broadband connection, 'cause I got a wireless modem that my PC and laptops connect to from upstairs, where the 360 would be.

If anything's gonna die off in the next year or so, it'll be the 360 as it's been running for the longest. I can see that the PS3 has a long future ahead of itself - especially with all the awesome games and accessories it's getting. But I guess, at the end of the day, it's down to personal opinion.

But yeah, MS produce the wireless bridge Mike posted above which plugs into the ethernet port and provides wireless. Just costs a fair bit.

IMO the only thing the PS3 has got going for it is the promise of MGS4 since Assassins Creed and DMC4 is going to be on 360 now.

Not to mention Halo 3.
Not to mention its cheaper.
Not to mention there are far more games available for the 360 then the PS3.
Not to mention the online community is more active on the 360.

In my opinion, its a hard one to call. I personally have a 360 and a PS2 (and a Gamecube, and a Saturn and a Snes.. cant bear to part with my old consoles :p)

My boyfriend, however has a 360 and a PS3, and he likes them both, for different reasons... someone mentioned the six-axis on the PS3, which to be honest is fun, but the novelty wears off...

GAME have an offer at the moment, if you trade in a PS3 (cant remember what size of HDD) you can get a Xbox 360 for £4.99 with games, etc.

So.. why not, buy a PS3 preowned, try it out, if you dont like, then get a 360?

TBH, wait until the major titles are out. Everyones been basing their console purchases off the games that may be exclusives and are sure to be good, as gamers we should know that there are plenty of times this isn't the case.

List the games for each system you are interested in, and wait for them to come out and see what the reviews are, I know a friend who bought his PS3 based off Lair. You don't want to make an equally silly mistake.

less than a gig will be game saves, demos are generally between 0.5-1.5gb each, so that leaves the rest for music, videos and photos (which is pointless if you ask me, it's a games console, not a pc)

also, xbox has loads of good games, not just halo 3, and it also has xbox live, which is apparently better than the playstation equivalent

The HD on the 360 is not just for saved games. You can download demos, videos, music, etc. The game demos range from 0.5 to 1 gig. 20 gig is still plenty, of course, but there's more to it than just saved games.

I probably do slightly prefer the 360 controller, which after saying something like "I'll never use an xbox controller they're too big" a year or so ago, is quite surprising. It's probably because I use the sticks for pretty much every game I play now, and having them there is pretty comfortable.

I have owned a PS1 and I have a PS2 at the moment.
I'm quite tempted to buy a 360. It has a few good games on it now and GTAIV is coming out on it. I'm also tempted to buy a Wii because it's fun to play (though I worry about how long the novelty will last). I don't see a good reason to buy a PS3 at the moment. Maybe that will change but it doesn't look likely.

Try READING THE THREAD, you'll find that it hasn't been fighting, but people offering their opinions on the 2 consoles, no arguing.

You can easily pick out which console the posters own based on how blatantly biased their opinions are. Not one person gave a negative comment about their own console, no xbox owners mentioned the red ring of death and no ps3 owner mentioned any of the ps3s problems such as game delays.
If you want a professional response try doing your own research.

The 360 already has this feature with the webcam. I put it to a more practical use on my Rainbow Six Vegas character rather than on a tiny pixel which is a Pro Evo character. Yea it's a ripoff of the PS2's eyetoy, but so is the PS3 controller of the Wii and 360 blah blah blah yadda yadda.

Anyway it is up to you what console you want based on the games. 360 has the best online community, with everyone having a headset and like 5 years experience in the online console field. This forum has its own little xbox live community. The whole "PS3 is beta coz of grafix" thing seems to be dead, or a lie, so it comes down to games now.

360 does have Halo 3, the biggest entertainment product of all time, Gears of War, Ninja Gaiden 2 and numerous other franchises that imperialistic bastard Microsoft seized.

As for PS3's franchises that were mentioned...well...

NG1 appeared on PS3, so NG2 will doubtless surface too. And Halo 3 isn't really that good - I have sat for a solid few hours and played it and not once did I think "OHMYHOLYFUCKINGSHITTHISISAWESOME" like everyone else seems to. What's to get?

Noooo, I didn't mean the SIXAXIS ripped off JUST the 360 controller. It ripped/took ideas off both 360 and Wii. Wii's motion sensitivity, and the 360 design, but not to a greater extent. Triggers and the centre button mainly.

And a game won't stay on one console because of the SIXAXIS function. It'll be removed and replaced to be put onto the 360, the most likely other candidate (bit like MGS2: Substance). Like how the Wii shares games with 360/PS3

But anyway, Gears of War is another very immense game that puts 360 on the map. And yes I have played Tekken, and it has nothing on the speed and fluidity of the DOA series. Sooo slooooww, and it's only punches and kicks; the throws are non-existent.

I suggest our friend looks at the list of games and makes his decision from that. Right now the 360 has the highest-rated games but he should also consider the release schedule.

But I have little regard for the PS3 since it is a dwarf compared to my new setup. Intel Core 2 with 2GB RAM and GeForce 8800GT in SLI. Same with 360. :P
