For the last few years I've been playing Age of Mythology, and I finally got bored with it. I need a good list of suggestions for strategy games. So please supply me with one.
Edit: of the war-like army-building city-conquest genre.

Red Alert 2 & Company of Heroes are the only RTS games which have kept me hooked for the entire timespan i've owned them.
Company of Heroes is the best RTS i've ever played with not only awesome skirmish/multiplayer, but 2 highly detailed campaigns.
RA2 is just RA2... Incomparable.

Supreme commander if you happen to have a dual core processor (to handle late game calculations for thousands of units shots etc)
Civilization IV as well most definitely. It's turn based but great fun to play.

Total War games! Woo!
And the C&C games. RA2 especially. I love that game.
Oh aye, and Dawn Of War.
Maybe Warhammer: Mark of Chaos.

I think my favourite real time ones are Red Alert 2 and Total Annihilation, which are both a bit old but I'm not very up to date on the genre. Advance Wars is great fun if you fancy turn-based strategy.
I hear there's small-scale Final Fantasy Tactics-style game coming out for DS some time that's set in the Warhammer 40k universe, which sounds splendid.

Supreme Commander is awesome!
Settlers VI is great aswell. Though it is less focused on the army-thing.

Age of Empires 3 with expansion pack. I think you can get AOE 3 with and expansion pack for about £20

If you liked age of mythology you'll probably enjoy Age of empires 3, as its very similar. But in my opinion the best rts ive ever played is Warcraft 3 and its expansion pack (frozen throne) (almost as long as the original game with a killer RPG World of warcraft style single player campaign).
The skirmish mode against CPU oponents is a bit of a let down but the single player campaigns will keep you busy for hours. Its best if you crank up the difficulty there are some missions i still cant complete on the hardest mode.
Whatever you do dont buy Cossacks thats for sure. Something seriously wrong with that game.

Have you been a strategy game fan for long? Because some of the oldies are still worth a mention if you aren't. AoE 1 and 2 are still good games in their own right.
Think about it.
