Just wondering. I've only recently switched to this editor, and even though I've practically had to relearn the life before GUI (we all get corrupted, don't we?), I'm loving the genius behind whoever got that keyboard map setup. I can smash my mouse, and become more efficient in programming than before!

So, does anybody else here use Vim? (or GVim) If you do, post your comments!

BTW this should be added to the free software topic as well. It's awesome :) Not enough hardcore programmers here.

BEFORE YOU GIVE YOUR COMMENT: Vim is NOT an IDE.

I prefer not to use it actually, i guess im just too impatient to learn all the shortcuts, because i always seem to mess it up.

True. It takes some time to learn. But after going through the tutor I can see how fast I will be after I'm used to it. I've already progressed to almost my previous speed in other editors.

There is a program that comes with it called "Vimtutor" which I found very useful to learning how to use it.

Logitech G15 keyboard ftw. With 54 programmable G keys (18 keys x 3 memory slots), you could assign the most frequently used commands to the G keys.

I use plain old VI, ease of use over ssh makes it a winner. It's not really hard to learn the commands anyway, you only need to know about 5 to use it and 15 to use it well.
