Has anyone else ever experienced really long pauses when doing anything on their computer? I recieved my dell vostro 1500 two days ago and it is annoying the crap out of me. Basically it seems to just freeze when doing any simple task like opening a window or flicking between tabs in a window.
For example. I have steam opened at the moment and everytime I change tab like going from the community tab to the my games tab, the whole system freezes for about 2 minuites and then continues as normal like nothing happened.
Also as I'm typing this message it keeps freezing and firefox will have the "(not responding)" thing beside it but then it will continue again.
At first I thought it was just silly old dell and its bloatware so I reinstalled windows but to no success. I then heard about vista and its indexing thing. I decided to turn that off but it hasn't made a difference.
I had this problem before I connected the laptop to the internet so I don't think it is some sort of virus.
The laptop has:
2.2GHz Core 2 duo
2GB of RAM
8600 GT
Has anyone out there had a similar problem before? How did you solve it?
Thanks in advance.
