My birthday's a week away and im getting enough money to get myself the 360 wich I mainly want for Halo 3 since all my mates are playing it but i got enough money for two games, can you 360 veterans tip me off with a great game or something? ive heard Assasin's Creed's supposed to be kickass but I dont really know, so if anyone could help me out that would be great, thanks :)

Assassin's Creed is getting pretty mixed receptions, I thought it was quite kickass but not completely kickass.

There's plenty other stuff to choose from, depending on what you're into. Have a look at the highest scoring games on here: http://www.metacritic.com/games/xbox360/scores/

I'd personally specifically recommend Mass Effect, Skate, Forza Motorsport 2 and Bioshock, depending on what sort of thing you're into, and whether you're going to be playing online or not.

Consider Skate seconded. Also Oblivion, if you've yet to play it, though I suppose that Mass Effect probably makes it a little redundant.

Oblivion is a whole different kettle of fish to Mass Effect really, same genre but very different approaches.

I don't get why everyone likes Oblivion so much, I could never really get into it.

Mass Effect is a great game, not so sure if its a good first game for 360 there is a bit of a learning curve apparantly. I didn't really notice it myself though.

Also dont forget playing online requires a Gold live account which costs a monthly fee, but I think theres a week or so of free play time included.

and this is way you fail at the 360.

Edit: and this^ is why I fail at spelling....

Not really alot of people can't get into because it is to slow for them.

If you could stretch a few extra quid Guitar Hero 3 would be worth the money, or Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed is amazing for about 9 hours then you've completed the game and there's no incentive to start a new game.

Thanks for all the awesome advice! :D Im not gonna get Oblivion played through it on my PC, it was OK but I didn't like the fact that the level doesnt really matter, it was a tad to easy :P. I'm definatly gonna play online, as with Halo and all that, I'm right now looking into that Forza Motorsport, is there any football game worth mentioning? I like that aswell :) Thanks again!

Mat: Only if you've got friends that can be bothered to play with you that is, can't imagine it being very fun playing it on your own, although a one man band would be fun.

Dead Rising is a good game and is probably quite cheap now, it's got a good storyline and a lot of entertaining achievements which can make the game last longer. Of course if you don't want to do the story, which has multiple endings and optional missions which you can tackle, you could probably have enough fun just using the many weapons available to kill zombies. The only flaw is the save points are quite far apart but that isn't a real problem.

Is that the one where you smack zombies inside a mall, eidderf?

Yeah I heard of it, actually played a demo at a mates place, is there really a story? I was just knockin about in a sea of zombies with a frying pan :P

Yeah I already got cod4 on the PC ^^

Yes there is a story, quite a good story; the demo is just a small part of the mall to show you the basic gameplay. The optional missions are either rescue missions (which aren't that fun but they are optional) or the psychopath killing missions which are very varied, each psychopath requires a different method to defeat them and they are all quite imaginative, for example a chainsaw juggling clown. The main storyline is quite an important part of the game, but you can skip it and just kill the zombies for hours if you want, the mall changes depending on the storyline and brings a lot of new elements to the game.

Another good feature that the game has is that if things get too difficult there is an option to start again but keep the levels you have gained. I completed it without ever using this feature but it's good to know it's there.

You can knock as many zombies down with a frying pan as you want but there is much more to the game than that. You can get it for cheaper than £20 now so it's worth the price.

Condemned was quite good.

DOA4 is very bouncy.

Bioshock is awesome.

The Orange Box has :cube:

HA, Halo sucks balls compared to other shooters available, seriously everyone was just hyped up and just can't bear to admit that it is not the best.

There are so many better shooters out there when compared to Halo 3

The ZeroPunctuation review is pretty accurate, while being a good laugh aswell

But if all your friends are playing halo, you should probably get it

I dunno, I still prefer Halo 3 purely for multiplayer than any of the recent competition. It's still a pretty different type of game to COD4, and very different to TF2. Not that I play much of anything online lately, but in theory I still prefer the style of gameplay in Halo 3.
