Me and my family want to get a wireless internet connection (to get laptops etc. on the internet). And as its our first time, I just wanted to know what you guys thought the best wireless connection (provider) is.

Also, if there is anything else that I need to know about wireless, can you guys please say?

Lastly, the wireless connection needs to work with a pc, a mac, a pc laptop, and a wii. I asume that all wireless connections should, but I just want to make sure.

Thanks!

I'm using a Linksys WRT54GS and it works like a charm, they're going quite cheap now aswell - around £30 I suppose. Just plug in your usb cable in the router and modem to connect them and all the extra cables and you're set.

Ok, great!

First off, would this work with aol, and secondly, where can I get one from?

For wireless internet im currently using a
Speedtouch 585i v6
and it works beautifly with my ADSL MAX line
also allows me to change my sync rate (speed).
so if there is a lot of interference on the line i can drop the speed so my connectivity and pings dont suffer.

you can get one from http://www.dsl-warehouse.co.uk/product.asp?pr=ST585
or google it.

this is a combined router and modem and its one of the AOL supported routers as well so AOL has a Easy installer package for it.

how about that ^_^

Well either would do fine I suppose, the Linksys ones would probably be available on eBay, Amazon etc.

Another thing that might help you is to change from AOL :D

Just do what we do.

Have a normal router then a wireless router then a hub. Its rather crazy but somehow works. 0_o

Sorry that I am so late to reply, I have just got back on.

Well thanks for those three brilliant ideas guys! I will pass them all on to the family and see what they think.

Thanks again!

I've heard many recommend the Linksys WRT54GL, with dd-wrt installed on it.
Its a router designed to support 3rd party software, and dd-wrt apparently is very good, does everything normal router firmware does + more
