It's looking very likely that Manhunt 2 Is going to be released In the UK now although the BBFC still hasn't rated It.

"We won't make a decision until we've seen the full printed judgement, which we're expecting this week," Sue Clark, spokesperson for the BBFC

Hopefully I'll soon be able to play this on the Wii.

Hopefully this will make Risng Star (Is it Rising or Red? w/e) not be such pussies about putting blood in No More Heroes in Europe now.

Manhunt looks...interesting...

I might have a gander some time, but its mainly all the fuss thats been made over it thats making me remotely interested. Which is most likely what Rockstars was planning the whole time. Touché Rockstar, touché.

I liked Manhunt. It was silly, but it was fun.
If I get a Wii, I'll get Manhunt 2. Seems like it lends itself to the Wii well.

Hold your horses guys. The BBFC are taking the overturning of the ban to the high courts to try to get it re-banned. This isn't over yet.

There's never any gaming news on Sundays, so here is something from the week that we may have missed. Because, tbh, we've all stopped caring.

The increasingly boring saga of the banned Manhunt 2 game took a new twist during the week when the High Court ruled in favour of the ban imposed last June by the British board of Film Classification (BBFC).

manhunt 2.jpg The ban was recently overruled by the Video Appeals Committee (VAC) but the High Court’s Mr Justice Mitting said that the VAC had made an error of law regarding the meaning of the word ‘harm’.

As a result the VAC has to go back and review its findings. Obviously, the recent celebrations by Rockstar Games over the first VAC decision have been overshadowed by this decision. In a statement, Rockstar said:

“We believe the Video Appeals Committee decision was correct and do not understand the court's decision to expend further public resources to censor a game that contains content well within the bounds established by the British Board of Film Classification's18-plus ratings certification.”

Maybe there is hope for gamers though since some online retailers seem to know more about the future of Manhunt 2 than the rest of us.

If you check the Play.com site here, you’ll see that you can pre-order the game now for its supposed launch on March 28.

I'm not sure where I stand on this. On one hand I'm against totally banning any games (I know it's not but it's close enough) and would even go as far as suggesting a 21 rating if it would mean that it'd be classified. However I do feel a slight twinge about BBFC been forced to reclassify it. BBFC is in my eyes infallible and therefore shouldn't be questioned. If this does end with it getting reclassified as an 18 then I worry that every time a publisher gets a rating they don't feel is suitable they'll appeal against it, leading to the BBFC ratings not being as reliable and unbiased as I trust them to be at the moment.

Two things:

1) Classification organisations should keep to classification and leave censorship to totalitarian governments.

2) Manhunt 2 doesn't look all that good. Am I missing something?

I think most people don't really want it for the game- I've heard it's pretty good, but I also don't see what's great. The controversy is probably attracting far more people.

obviously some people will be getting it because of the hype, but loads of peoplw will be getting it because the first game was good.
