OK, I get the feeling this is a hopeless cause, but I thought I'd throw it out here for you chaps and chappeses to have a ponder about.
My laptop, which I've had for at least for 3 years, looses the brightness in it's screen after about a minute of powering the thing up. It darkens until you think it's totally black, it's only by squinting and concentrating can you tell that the damn thing is on!
A few days ago I noticed a black splotch on the screen on the taskbar, as tall as half the taskbar, which seemed just to be dead screen. I mention this only as that could be a sign of what has now happened.
Anyway, anyone know what I can do about it? Presuming my warrenty is out of date (I have no idea what it is, I got it from PC Word. Yeah, I know...), can such a screen fuck up be fixed, and if it can is it worth it? Or should I just get some money together and buy a new one?
All ideas welcome. :)
If my laptop is a lost cause, where do you reckon I should go to get a new one? I'm thinking of a PC this time, I don't really mind specs, as long as it can run fairly ok games and has the memory to hold my large amount of music files. Anything around a £1,000 or less. Again, I have no idea what is good to get or where to buy (other than PC World, not again!), so all ideas are welcome!
No takers?
I've given up on the laptop and just now looking for a desktop PC. I've looked at the Dell website and all the computer jargon confuses me! If anyone has any groovy suggestions I'll be glad to hear them!
