Can anyone suggest some software that I could use that would allow me to rotate a video clip in MOV format by 90 degrees?

I've been asked by a friend to see if I can do this for a number of clips taken on a mobile phone at their wedding.

Ideally I'm looking for something that isn't going to cost a packet or even better is completely free.

I think you'll find this is a simple google job. Searching "Rotate video" yields numerous useful sites.

Really?

I never would have thought of that - cheers Sebas, thanks for treating me like a n00b

What I was actually looking for was a recommendation from someone who may have done something like this before.

Needless to say I've already tried google and the only thing I've come up with is the fact that Quicktime pro can rotate video - but obviously that's going to cost me.

First result:

How do I rotate video that I have recorded with my digital camera in the Player?

You can rotate video clips in Windows Movie Maker by doing the following:

1.

Import the video clip into Windows Movie Maker.

2.

Drag the imported video clip and drop it onto the timeline.

3.

On the Tools menu, click Video Effects.

4.

To rotate the video clip to the right, drag the Rotate 90 video effect and drop it onto the movie on the timeline.

-or-

To rotate the video clip to the left, drag the Rotate 270 video effect and drop it onto the movie on the timeline.

5.

On the File menu, click Save Movie File and follow the instructions in the Save Movie Wizard.

WMM. Simple and free.

Fair enough on the recommendation from experience thing, but it's not like the Quicktime Pro thing is all you can find on Google. I'd link you to all the other results if I wasn't on slooooow wireless right now.

I think the key thing you might have missed is the MOV format - I can't even get WMM to open the file.

Edit:

I've also tried a number of other methods, like converting from MOV to AVI so I could use WMM, but all the free converters seem to watermark the vid.

Edit2:

Oh, and apologies for being a bit tetchy - busy day yesterday.
