Story here.
Pointless IMO. Too much of a strain on teams, and isn't the English Premier League the biggest in the world anyway? It's all about the money.
Bad idea.

wasn't it a few years ago they wanted to reduce the number of the teams to 18 or 16 to play less games
now they are talking about adding one more game - talk about doing it for the money.

"WAAAAH! All our players are tired and underperforming because of how many games they have to play! We should have a Winter break!"
"You know you can make more money if you play even more games but overseas?"
"What? More money? Ok fuck the players then!"
If the League were much smaller this wouldn't be a bad idea but everyone already says how overstretched the players are and this will just push them even further. I can't imagine the players are happy about it, just the money grabbing businessmen that own the clubs.
I seriously can't see how the majority of teams seem to have switched from "We need fewer games\a winter break" to "We should play more games" in such a small period of time. What are they thinking of?

I hate the winter break whinging. It's not a surprise, the fixture list is well known to all managers.
This is a retarded idea that I can easily see happening, look at Man Utd's recent trip to Saudi Arabia.

A slightly better idea.

First thing won't happen. They may get a winter break and they'll all do little tours for money but the playing abroad thing won't happen. I mean surely no-one can be thick enough to see that it will make fans revolt.
Second thing is best idea in a long time, most european leagues allow seven subs to be named, and it feeds youth players through quicker.

So, from a lottery one team will play someone a third time. Surely that will just lead to lots of bitching that people got an easier team in their 39th game then their title/relegations rivals? "Well they got to play Sunderland and we had to play Chelsea! How is that fair?"
If they then come out and same that the game won't incorporate points and is therefore pointless then they just admit what we are all thinking.
I don't see why we have to do that when people are getting enough exposure from their summer tours and also 6x the amount of TV money they were in 2001.
Everyone has already said that its all about the money and thats true. Thats the only reason people were moaning about winter breaks is because they want to secure higher places in the Premiership = more money. They seem a more lucrative opportunity and want that one instead, regardless of fans reactions and players conditions.
The only other people who do such a stupid idea is the Yanks and everyone knows their take on sport is trather squiffy, so should we really be taking their lead?
The subs idea is great. As said, youth players will get more experience, which can only be good for the development of England players, and it will bring us in line with the rest of europe. I never knew why we had less in the first place.
