Following a conversation on Flashchat last night (http://forums.weebls-stuff.com/usernote.php?u=970) with woody_tng, we've come up with some ideas for a new game.

OK, so. It's not even fully established how the game will go yet (we're open to suggestions :)), so I might put down a few dates to give an idea of when this is likely to start. I'd also bear in mind, with the way challenges are likely to be done, that we could 1. do with some time to sort out a few challenges ideas before we start posting them and 2. people might want to get their teams in place before it starts. So here's when I'd like things to happen:

Saturday 16th to Friday 22nd - post any suggestions if you have any (including name), say if you want to be an organiser/player/manager
Saturday 23rd to Saturday 1st - managers sign up (complete with team name if they like), organisers decide who does what and get some ideas. Contracts can now be drawn up/signed, ready for the game to start.
Sunday 2nd - Game starts!

Rules
- The format is a bit like the Daily Challenge Game - I (or whoever runs this) sets players challenges, and they get points for doing them.

- People aren't on their own anymore, they're on teams.

- Anyone can create their own team at any time, and the team will get a pre-set opening points balance of 1,000 points.

- Each team has a manager/leader sorting out what goes on. This will probably be whoever creates the team at first, but they can hand it down to another team member if they like.

- The manager needs to recruit other players to their team in order for the team to do well in challenges.

- "Recruiting" might be a bit like transfers in football - managers have control of their teams'
points and can use them like wages for players. Getting a player to your team gets you 100 points and your team 50 points.

- Teams can have as many players as they like but getting/keeping players comes at a price (See point above) - so it's not as easy as just rounding everyone up.

- Each challenge will have its own rules, but many of them will restrict the number of people who can play it from each team (e.g. it may only allow two team members to compete). For these challenges, teams will need to choose the required number of team members to play if they want to attempt the challenge. Players can volunteer to do challenges but the manager has to make a decision about who does it if too many/not enough people volunteer.

- When a player joins a team, a contract has to be arranged first. This should say how many points the team is going to give the player for joining them, how long the player joins the team for and how much the player's "wages" are - i.e. how much they are given every day/week/whatever they are at the club. These conditions aren't all essential to get a player to join a team, but it may help to convince them.

- "Pay" for managers is 10% of their team's value to them at the end of each week (i.e. at 23:59 on Saturdays)

- The "contract" is just text and should be posted in the thread. It needs to outline all the conditions on which the player is joining the team (wages etc.) and the player, manager of the team getting the player (and team that the player previously belonged to if they already have a team - they might end up getting some points out of the other team from this contract) all need to post and say they agree to the contract.

- If a player's contract runs out (e.g. the contract said they're joining a team for two weeks and that two weeks is up) the team and the player can both agree a new contract (this can be done before the time's up if they want, too). If the player's out of contract he or she can just leave.

- All discussions about contracts can be in public or private, as long as the contract is made public and agreed. "Discussions" can include saying you (if you're a player) need a club or your team (if you're a manager) needs players. I suppose you could mention about how many points you'd settle for, things like that.

- There might be a few different people (if more than one person wants to do it - I will when I can) who set challenges. How long they last and the points involved depend on what the challenge is, but basically they will all have a timescale and the winning teams/players will be awarded points. Maybe in some challenges the winning team gets half of the prize and the winning players personally get the other half split amongst them, things like that. If more than one person is doing challenges, then they will be allowed to do them whenever they like but ideally there should be some people checking what the challenges are before they're posted, just so they're fair, don't give out OTT prizes, and also so that there aren't too many challenges going on at once. More than one challenge can be going on at the same time, though.

- An idea for these overlapping challenges is that some of them would come as part of a series, and there would be special rules about players taking part. For example, a series of four challenges takes place. One is Monday to Sunday, one is Monday to Thursday, one is Wednesday to Friday and the fourth is Thursday to Sunday. During this time, you'll need a team of three players, a team of four players, a team of two players, and a single player to do the other challenge. However, no player can take part in two challenges so you'll need ten people if you want to take part in all of them. If a series like this happens the details of all the challenges will be announced before the series starts, so you'll get enough time to plan who does what.

- If a team goes into negative points, they can hope to get out of it by earning points from challenges. However, if it gets to the point where it needs to pay its player(s) and it can’t afford to, the player(s) are allowed to leave straight away if they wish. If this starts to happen to a team it could be the case that all players leave…

- If that happens, the team might be left with just one manager and no players. In this case, it might be a good idea for the manager to leave the team too. If this happens, then the team no longer exists. They could always start again I guess.

- The winners in this game come in two different ways: there are the richest teams and the richest players. The amount the team has is whatever it starts with, plus whatever it earns from challenges, minus what it has to pay its players and other clubs to get their players. The players' points come only from what their teams give them (sorted out in contracts), as well as possibly what they get for winning challenges if players get a cut of it.

- If a player gets very rich, they can buy their way out of their team - something which might be agreed in the contract (e.g. it says the player can leave at any time if they pay the team 50 points.) If they leave and then don't have/want a team to be part of, they can start up their own with just their own wealth. I'm not sure whether they'd get the set amount of points a new team gets as well, but we can decide on that later.

OK, so I said you can do contracts before the game starts, and once your team is created you'll automatically have the players on your team. So, I'll do a blank contract here where you can basically fill in the gaps. Just copy and paste it into a post here, fill in the gaps and post it. Then, the player and manager both need to agree to it (so if the manager posts it then the player has to post saying they agree to it). Here it is:

1. The following player: __________, who is part of the team __________, will join the team __________.
2. The player's current team will be given ___ points by the player's new team as part of the agreement.
3. The player will be paid ___ points by their new team as soon as they join.
4. The player will join the team from __th ________ to __th ________, a time period of __________.
5. During this time, the player will be paid ___ points per _day/week/month_ by their new team, a total (initial pay and pay during time at team) payment to the player of ____ points.
6. If the player wishes to leave this team at any time, they can do so by paying the team ___ points.
Signed: __________ (manager of __________); __________ (manager of __________); __________ (player)

Leave stuff out/make your own if you wish, it's just a suggested way to do it. And obviously no-one has a team yet, so if you're doing a contract now leave out number 2. To sign something just put your username or team name, whichever you need.

Fine by me, there's no set structure of how the challenges work so just do some whenever if you want :)

OK, so before we start, we could do with a few challenges ready anyway. If you're an organiser, this is what you need to start doing now (you only have to do it every now and again, just when you've got an idea):

- think up a challenge
- decide how many players are needed per team (not many for the earlier challenges, let's say 1-3 now but it'll go up to about 1-6 later)
- decide how long people should have to do it (I'd say a few days for all of them, but they all have to end at some point. Maybe between 3 days and 2 weeks?)
- decide how people will prove how well they have done (e.g. posting in this thread)
- PM the details to me. I'll sort out how many points it's worth, who the points go to [how much to the team, how much to the players, if the best team/player gets all of the prize or just a lot of it], when to set it, and anything else that needs to be done with it.

Once I've decided everything about a challenge, I'll tell you exactly what's going to happen with it (including what the post announcing the challenge will say) so that once we're ready to start the challenge, we can post it straight away. Maybe we could have somewhere where people can put all their challenge ideas, and then I edit it with details when I can. Depending on whether they'll fully work or not I might have to turn down or change some of them, but don't worry about that. I've got an idea ready now for one, actually.

I didn't know you needed one... I've fixed it now though, you should be able to see it.

So, these icons. When someone posts a challenge they'll need to put some of these in. When they go in they're posted side by side, and preferably in this colour order: red > orange > yellow > green > blue > purple > black. here's what they all mean:

Red (challenge type)
decision - the challenge requires you to choose things.
game - the challenge is a game.
think - the challenge requires you think.
art - you have to make / draw something.

Orange (how points are awarded)
complicated - it will need to be explained in the post.
pie - the prize is split fairly between everyone who completes it (but this will probably include more than one person from a team)
podium - there is a set amount for each postion, e.g. 60% of the prize goes to 1st, the other 40% goes to 2nd.
winner - the best player/team gets the prize.

Yellow (team/player split)
These are all how much of the total prize the teams and players get. Both will either get 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80% or 90%.

Green (total prize)
How much the total prize is in thousands (1k to 5k) and hundreds (from 200 - 1,000). You may need to use two of these. So if it's 1,600 you'll need 1k and then 600.

Blue (number of players)
The number of players you can have taking part on your team. Either 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or unlimited.

Purple (challenge requirement)
contest - you "win" by doing better than everyone else, although there may not only be one person who earns points.
race - you need to do something quickly to be the winner.
target - there are multiple winners, and they are all the players who reach a set target.

Black (challenge maker)
Whichever organiser did the challenge.

If you're not sure about any of this, the first challenge is coming soon. That should clear it up, and also show organisers what to post for challenges.

Curses, I just realised why.

It filters "soccer" to football. I knew that, but I need to change the URL. What you need to do is change a letter (I did E) to the code is corresponds to; since "e" is Alt + 0111 this is 6F in hexidecimal, so "%6F" in an address means the same as "e". I put "%6E" instead :/

Also, everyone has just been paid. Not much change since you all get 30, but Mighty Morphin Flower Arrangers have closed the gap on The Spanking Kippers by 30 due to having a player less, and Team Yorkshire have essentially caught up quite a bit due to not having to pay people :p

i started about 2 months ago since my old 1 Hour a week
Martial Arts class opened up a full time school
open 6 days a week.

im loving it so far its sooo different to the other the other styles I practise.

we were trying to get the application of Tesoura de Frente or Vingativa depending on with which leg your opponent has forward at the last lesson.

which I was hopeless at :( but never mind it will come in time I guess
and im only doing 2 hours a week atm.

probably my favourite sequence at the moment is dodging a armada kick with negativa then following up from there.

[UPDATED] Time: 12/3/08 to 17/3/08 (5 days - Wednesday to Monday)

Goal: I've got 20 questions here, and 10 will be chosen at random to be asked to each team member. (Every question is asked to one person on the team). This will need to be done on something where you can reply very quickly (FlashChat, MSN, etc.) because your answers will be timed. All questions will have two possible choices so you only get one guess at each; however, some may be trick questions.

While you answer the questions I will keep track of how long it takes for you to give your correct answers, and I will then find a way of giving you an average time for all your right answers. Everyone will then be ranked (worst is 1, best is 6) according to how many out of 10 they got right and the "average" time they took to get a right answer, meaning every player can get between 2 and 12. The winning team is the one who gets the highest combined score, and the players will get one share for every one of these points they got themself. (Example: player 1 and player 2 are on the same team. Player 1 gets the most right answers [scores 6] in the slowest "average" time [scores 1]; player 2 gets the second most right answers [scores 5] in the third quickest "average" time [scores 4]. They score 16 altogether and win; the team gets 30% of the 800-point prize [240] and the players split the other 560 - player 1 gets 245 [560 x 7/16] and player 2 gets 315 [560 x 9/16]).
