This weeks challenge is 'water'. As always if you're unsure of the rules visit the 'challenge rules' thread, and if you're answers cannot be answered there PM me. Interpret this theme however you wish. have fun!

My entry :

This photo is my favourite all time photo, the only ps work done was to add a duotone to it in photoshop.

Umm...this is fairly water-involved.

It was going to be entered in sunrise/sunset, but i registered on the old forums a couple days after entries closed.

shame about the artifacts you have on there, because that's a gorgeous photo :)

resized it to make it look better.

My digital camera's small and not particularly good at quality pics, 800x600 being the max size. It looks better now I've resized it.

My camera arrives tomorrow and I plan to blow all 150 shots trying to photograph the kingfisher on a dive. That thing must goa bout 40mph... but I'll get it one day.

I will EDIT this when I have a good shot of the canal, hopefully with either the ducklings or the kingfisher.

Very impressive photies there everyone!

Hopefully I'll be able to work out how to upload mine from here, since I still don't have internet at my uni house, and I'm currently stuck on a mac in college.

My Kodak CX6230 arrived today! My first proper digicam! Here is my water pic... it's of the canal. Thans EasyTiger and Manny for helping me pick this camera, I am extremely pleased with the results... I've taken about fifty shots so far today! Loving it.

Had to really reduce the number of colours to reduce the file size, which is a shame.

Hey ET, whatever happened to the whole 'sending pics to you first so it's not just a favouritism contest' idea?
Ah well, here's my pic.
Taken at Centre Parcs by my own fair hand.
I love that red sand under the water :)

2nd attempt...
Hopefully this will be my first post and first entry. I can't seem to get the vB code thingy to work.
OK. The picture was taken at the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, looking down into the aquarium.

Thanks guys. :) This one was a suprise for me because I thought I had left the polarizing filter on my lens. The reflections in the water would have been gone if I had, and turns out they make the picture much more interesting.

EasyTiger
30-09-2003, 01:55 PM
how would you not have got reflections with a polarising filter?
I only ask because I have a circular polarising filter, and i'm sure i've had reflections in water before...

manny
30-09-2003, 02:17 PM
flower: try saving it as a jpeg, then you can use full 24bit colour and it shouldnt be too large.

I believe the file attachment size has been increased to 200kb.

Flower
30-09-2003, 02:53 PM
Cheers manny.

ET - relfections are polarised - so if you have a polarising filter it removes them. though I assume it depends on which way they are polarised, and which way your filter is. mebbe.

bethie_nova
30-09-2003, 02:55 PM
Generally speaking, polarizing filters assist in reducing reflections from windows and the like. It may not work as well on water, but I'm not 100% sure on that.. When it's a hazy day out, I know it will help you get a sharper picture, if that's the effect you're after. I had another picture I thought about entering for this contest that's a black and white infrared using a red filter. It's not my official entry, but if you want to see it, it's at http://www.geocities.com/bethie_nova/land4.jpg

Damn geocities... http://www.geocities.com/bethie_nova/photography.html and then it's landscape 3

This is my first entry. Nothing done to it in photoshop simply because I would probably do more harm than good. It was taken at school camp with a disposable camera. I nearly got a black eye 'cause I took so many pictures of waves that always slammed the camera back onto my face. Ouchies.

Edit: Sorry, didn't realise it was bitmap. Fixed now.

challenge is over :)

For voting, there will be 3 groups. The winners or 2 closest winners from those groups will then go forward into a final vote.
