anyway, rant over.
the point: whats everyones top slot, go as cheesy pop as you feel :) it can be anyone or anything as long as theyv'e had a top ten hit before!!
/edit

I make a lot of strange choices when it comes to music I listen to and artists/bands I like....
Cliff Richard is NOT one of them

Has anyone seen the Cliff Richard video for that Auld Lang Syne/Lord's Prayer thing he did? Just after he's assumed a Christ-like pose, when he sings 'forgive us our sins', there's a picture of a Nazi concentration camp behind him.

The Lord's prayer is a prayer asking God to forgive us as a species for our sins. I would say that concentration camps come under that category. I don't have a problem with Cliff, he's a perrenial favourite despite being hopelessly uncool to people of my generation.

I just think it's a bit much to be asking for forgiveness when six million people were killed for no reason. It just seems bad taste.
Back on topic, my favourite cheesy pop song of all time is the Elvis cover Paul McCartney did, All Shook Up.

Somebody needs to kick Cliff Richards arse before I target him with the Giant satelite laser beam i use to scratch my arse from space.
I would continue but iv already said too much.
On a more serious note, no I dont no anyone whos bought a cliff single. Even my grandmother hates him. at least i think she does.
well whatever, i cant stand him and the lords prayer thing really pissed me off. I was offended and im not even religious, I imagine many of you more fundemental believers were well pissed.

Because he's the untouchable squeaky-clean crooner that old people love. I pray for the day that his child pr0nogrpahy ring is exposed and his career is in ruins.

because there are a heck of a lot of old timers in the UK, they just hide away in their houses so you dont know their there, popping out occasionally for the odd cliff richard cd with their groceries....

I have never heard of cliff richard... I guess it must be a British thing.
Regardless of how many records he has sold,it doesnt make him a good artist.

hehe that thing was done on how many records were sold. and he has the record for releasing new albums for the longest period of time, and thus he has sold the most records. it isnt really a compo of who is the best, just who has been around the longest and thus sold the most!

but don't you have to be the best in order to survive in the music industry long enough to be able to write all the material and release all the albums?

In a round about wya that's true.
It's like, best is a relative term, and what is most popular survives in the music world. People who think it is the best are in the majority ergo it is technically best in a global way. I suppose. I just don't want to believe it.

noone ever said he wasnt musically talented. yes he can sing, and his songs are musically sound, its just his music is from an older period, and so doesnt attract the younger ones (ie us)
