The Chick Flick. I love 'em. I don't see why people don't like them. They tend to have great soundtracks (10 things I hate about you, for example). And they always leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling, even if deep down I know it can't last. I just love the whole romanticism of it all. More to the point, Chick Flicks don't have to be as vapid as they're made out to be. But some of them are really good. I mean, amelie has several chick flick characteristics, and lost in translation is a chick flick apparently.

So my friends, Join me in my praise of the fantastical, the magnificent, the marvellous CHICK FLICK!

10 Things is a teen flick. Chick flicks are more like Steel Magnolias and Terms of Endearment and Joy Luck Club (I had to find at least one tolerable one to mention) oh.. and of course Love & Sex!

Not all 'chick flicks' are bad. The Uber-Chick-Flick, like Legally Blonde, is indeed a vapid affair. But I loved Amelie, and I quite enjoyed Lost in Translation, despite being male.

I think 10 things might count as both teen and chick flick.

I class Chasing Amy as a chick flick and love that. Cant wait for Jersey Girl which hopefully should be another heartstring puller.

Love Actually was very good. Course, that might be considered a drama more than a chick flick. I will admit though, I like chick-flicks to a certain extent.

I loved Love Actually, it kinda reminded me of The Big Chill (fantastic soundtrack), or Playing By Heart (one of my favourite chick flicks)

Right now (maybe because of my soon to be jetset situation) I'm a massive fan of Under the Tuscan Sun.
I love the colours in that movie, they're just gorgeous and the Polish guys make me smile, because of them my Polish friend taught me how to swear in Polish, now I just need a reason to do so.
