Right, just curious what's everyone's portable music device like?
Do you like it? Do you hate it but keep it since you spent so much money? Hate teh iPod? Love it? Show what you got!

So mine is a Samsung YP-S5.

Why did you pick it? I got this because I got tired of carrying a cd player so I wanted a player that had some good features for it's price range. And I'm not a fan of Apple in general.

What's so special about it? Basically the big thing for me was the slide out speaker. And it also has a radio and Bluetooth for answering the phone (or at least knowing it's ringing when pretending to be busy).

Liking it so far? So far I'm in love with it. My only gripe is that some files are too difficult to transfer and you have to use the Samsung software to convert video files. But it's all good.

Other issues? I don't like the fact that the 8 GB version will never be sold in the US. But 4 GB is enough for me. So far I have about 600 songs to keep me happy. My other gripe that can't be fixed of course is the automatic pause when the headphones are out of the jack. It's useful for when it really does pop out. But other times some pairs of headphones when rotated in the headphone jack will pause it too. Bit annoying when trying to put it in my pocket.

Well that's it. Whatcha got?

I've never been big on MP3 players myself, as I've mainly used my PSP for music on the go. I used to have a little Creative thing (was called a MuVo if I remember right) but the headphone socket on that buggered up a couple of weeks ago so since then I've picked up a Creative Zen Stone Plus. It's a dinky wee thing, about the same length of your average USB flash disk and about twice the girth, shiny and smooth in the palm of your hand, and the sound quality is excellent. There's an FM radio too, which is handy if I'm not really up for listening to anything in the 2GB of storage space.

My only minor gripes with it are that you need to download Creative's (free) software to transfer tracks across and that I can't access my music from it on my PS3. Also, the battery only lasts around 9 hours at most which means I need to keep a watchful eye on the battery gauge, and the time delay between pressing a button and the actual player reacting to the button press can be a lengthy second or two, which is a bit slow.

iPod 5G 30

Why did you pick it? After having a cheapo 512mb mp3 player that lived for 18 months I decided I wanted to go for something of good value, was going to buy a Creative Vision M but something about that just did'nt feel right and the iPod was cheapest at the time.

What's so special about it? Nothing really, 30 gigs of storage which was suitable for my music collection at the time...

Liking it so far? Hmm... It does, I don't really look for much in an MP3 player - as long as it plays the music I'm happy!

Other issues? Only iTunes compatible - good software but when I'm in college or at a mates I can't use their iTunes or it deletes my library!!! (I know there are third party software packs that I can use but it should'nt have to be that way!)

Would I reccomend it? No, if I was buying a new mp3 player I would go for an mp3 player that can be used with multiple media players.
