Recently, I have been having strange dreams. The other day, I dreamt about traveling in train and it getting late to the destination…I don’t know what the destination was and where it was taking me….but the ride was quite un-comfortable. And the other one I had was celebrating with my friends in a resort…..now do the two link together….???

well I could tell you what freud would say, but I don't know whether that would be appropriate or not.

I could tell you the boring version, but that should be obvious.

I could point out that dreams most probably don't mean anything, and IIRC there's no evidence of your subconscious mind doing much during dreams in terms of influencing them. the only thing going on is pattern recognition and extrapolation, which are pretty much passive processes. in other words: dreams are random, or rather pseudo-random, because they arise from something literally random, but then are smoothed into something vaguely coherent by your brain.

if I completely misinterpreted your first post and this is a funny topic, I apologise :p

Well, I think that dreams are just randomly generated and may contain things such as familiar faces etc etc, but have nothing to do with visions or so.

I dreamt about being handed a bag of coke in a nightclub, and put it in my pocket. Then someone who could've caught me with it was around so I hid it in my mouth, and accidentally swallowed the plastic bag. Knowing what happens (http://www.independent.ie/national-news/pair-remain-on-life-support-amid-party-cocaine-probe-1234693.html) when you digest a lot of it, I started freaking out, and waited for the feeling of it hitting me, because that would be when the plastic had been broken through.

I went over to a non-drug friend as it kicked in, explained to him, and we ran out of the nightclub, me trying not to look like I was drunk/on drugs in front of the bouncers. We ran up the road looking for something to ring 999 on, while heading towards the hospital. I then tried to make myself throw it up, and I did. Underneath the normal vomit you could see semi-white wet powder. I was much relieved. I stood up and scrubbed it into the ground with my foot, but that made the white very clear and bright as happens with dirt on clothes, so we walked away and at this point I woke up.

May I point out I've never had any dealings with cocaine, not even seen it. Very strange.
Meaning of a dream? Dunno.

I had a dream the other day that I had just got to uni and it turned out that all the people in my halls were cunts.

I think I can take a guess at the meaning there, if there is one.

Also thread reminded me of this, and it's pretty much true that it is more difficult to analyse themes and that in books sometimes when you think dreams are insignificant. It's a problem I have with No Country for Old Men because I suspect that the dream the sheriff describes at the end pretty much makes sense of the entire thing but I am just like "oh a dream whatever"

Funnily enough I am revising the role of dreams for my psychology test tomorrow.

You can either go down the Freudian route of wish fulfillment theory, which suggests that dreams are away of telling you what your desires are, usually in manifest form (symbols).

Alternatively you could believe activation synthesis theory, which suggests that dreams like this are due to random activity in the brain.
Possibly due to the fact that during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep serotonin and noradrenaline levels are reduced, which are associated with attention and organisation of information.

Other theories include Reverse learning; which is dreams are are a way of sorting out and discarding information from the previous day,
problem solving theory; (which as the name suggests) proposes that dreaming is a way of solving problems,
or dreaming as a survival strategy; where it is thought that dreams are a way of comparing strategies and deciding which is best for survival.

[/excuse for revision]

have noticed people have mentioned freud would have a pov but no one has told you is to i will give you a basic analogy from his thesis:

train = phalic = PENIS!
inside train = vaginial = VAGINA!
evidently you desire sitting in a vagina which looks oddly like a penis! and arriving at a destination, OR! you are sperm????

for any later dream analysis here:

anything longer than wide = penis
anything that you can put things in = vagina
water = birth
authority = parents
vermin = siblings
.... i think thats it really
then as frued was super subjectiveyou can interpret them how youlike using the symbolisms above, ENJOY!
