My computer always sets itself back to 2000. I have reason to believe it's related to a Trojan horse problem I've been having for a while.

I always get these dumb popups. It's been going on for a while now. I've run several scans w/ AVG (Free edition, because I'm fucking cheap) which detects some files and fixes it temporarily, but yet every time I restart my computer I still get these stupid warning messages.

D/l'd Trojan Remover, which I rid me of my last dumb problem, which found a lot of stuff too, but then when I restarted my computer again the problem recurred.

technological illiteracy debilitating. help plz

Scan in safe mode and remove all system restore points while you're at it - viruses like to hide there.

also check your Bios - make sure the date and time are right in there, then restart it and see if they're still right. You might need to change your motherboards battery.

when you add something to windows it adds a point where you can go back tyo if the program screwsya pc up, but like paradigm said, you could remove a virus and system restore will just put it straight back for you
its accessed by start>all programs>system tools then go on system restore
im pretty sure windows guides you through from there
i just take images periodically,i find it far less hastle than system restore as if it all goes wrong, it occassionally means you have to reinstall windows

Obviously just a bad case of the Millenium Bug.

imo also switch antivirus. avg is fairly good at detecting but not so good at removing. Antivir free is meant to be good (their paid product is rated very high), and you can disable the nagging boxes to upgrade with a quick google.
