A life without love is like a year without summer. ~Swedish Proverb
The days are getting longer, foliage s blooming and the breeze smells slightly sweeter. Summer rain sprays the air with a fragrance seldom experienced in any other season. Summer is distinct and admired because of its power over human emotion. What emotions or memories does summer inspire in you? What are you looking forward to this summer? In your life how does summer change your routine and how you view your world?
Go wild.

Well, firstly, this is possibly my last ever long summer holiday- if I get a job soon after graduation next July, I won't get any more of these three-month holidays from education.
My summers since I turned 16 have all been full-time work though. Luckily, I've always done shifts in places which are open 7 days a week until at least 6pm, so I've never had to do a 9-5. However, this year I'm doing a six week lab placement and then going straight into a load of overtime at the shoe shop because of all the children getting their new school shoes.
Currently I'm looking forward to the Download festival and the Sunday of the Reading festival (I got a day ticket for the D :p). Music is a massive part of my summer and has been since I started going to a little music festival on a playing field back home a few years ago. Summer for me has the Red Hot Chilli Peppers as its soundtrack because of seeing them live and listening to them with friends in our usual haunts in the holidays.
Summer also scares me a little bit, as quite a few of my relatives died in the summertime. So now I get a little bit afraid at this time of year in case it happens again. It's silly, but there we go.

Summer is going to be well good. Lazing around with bf half the time, and if I'm lucky, the other half will be working as a volunteer after I finish my work ex :) Plus I'm going Tunisia for 2 weeks, somewhere I haven't been :)
I have the feeling this summer is going to be totally different, and I won't think back and go 'oh this was like in 2006 when....' I miss BBQ's too, they're amazing :D

A life without love is like a year without summer. ~Swedish ProverbSummer in Vancouver is basically three days of heat that arrives at random some time in May, followed by several months of near non-stop rain, ending in around August with another short-lived heat wave just to annoy people before all the leaves drop. It's so close to a year without Summer every year...
I must hope there's no direct correlation to a life without love, or it means my window of opportunity is only about a week per year :p

I hate summer. Mostly the heat and the bugs that come with the season... annoying and uncomfortable as hell.
I'm more of a winter person. I like the cold, love the snow and the peace that comes with it. Plus Christmas is in Winter, which is more awesome

sounds like me talking :P
Summer has never really been my favorite season, but this year it's kind of a gateway to new life (if that doesn't sound too cheesy) because I start college next year. I'm really cherishing these last few weeks at home even if it is hot and muggy out here.

I like the summer because I get to swim a lot. For me, summer officially starts on June 1st, and no matter the weather, I go for a swim. This year it was pretty nice, but the river was still freezing. I have so far swum in the river Avon (not the big one in Bristol) just round the corner, In the Erme Estuary at high tide, the River Dart on Dartmoor and last night in the sea at Bigbury.
My overiding impression so far is of cold.
Also, about the omg its hot thing - you just have to learn to deal with it. I used to be shit (btw I am ginger and very fair skinned, so hot weather is unnatural for me), but I learned to just slow down and take it easy, which helps a lot.

I quite like the summer...not too fond of really hot weather though. Plus this summer, despite having to do a lot of working, I've got a few things I want to get done...

Dashing from shade to shade and still managing to get burnt and getting sunstroke.
Wasps and bees constantly taking a massive interest in that orange mop I call a haircut.
Sweating profusely just from sitting quietly in my room.
I don't like summer.

I'm not a big fan of summer to be honest. This is partly due to my hatred of the beach, which wouldn't be so bad if I could catch some rays but I NEVER DO. I have mucho pale skin and no matter how hard I try I CANNOT tan. I've tried several times to turn a bit brown but I get nothing. It SUCKS.
The only thing I like about summer is when my friends from Wales come over to visit. We do go to the beach, but a) that's really all Guernsey has to offer tourists and b) it's bearable when you're with all your chums, even if you do get the sunburn to end all sunburns despite smothering yourself in sun cream.
So yeah, not a fan of summer. Much prefer winter.

I love to take walks in the sun, though sadly i cope poorly with heat. Thus summer is a mixed blessing...i also hate wasps and flying insects of all kinds, except stag beetles.
I get lots of time off work though...and can go on a diet then, which i need as i have little exercise lately.

i've got an extended summer due to Study leave and i don't go back to school when the exams end next friday. But it's really dull, i spend all day at home because i've been trying to get a job and failing miserably (Curry's won't e-mail me back grrr) and because i don't have a job, i have no money, which means i can't go anywhere

I never used to be a big fan of the summer, but I think it has grown on me in recent years. I still can't handle hot weather too well, but as long as there is a beach or a nice bit of shade to relax in then everything is good.
Of course, I do need to find a job at the moment. But that doesn't bother me because the sun is shining. Got to enjoy it while you can and all that.

I'm looking forward to being warm with the possibility of a tan. Scottish summers mean cold and me being pasty white as have no chance to bare any skin. This summer however, I'm in America and hence will actually be able to wear shorts!
Not liking that I won't be able to sit outside the pub with friends though, why do they insist on a drinking age of 21?

Summer....sat outside the pub doing an all dayer with your mates, or going on trips to the countryside and playing in rivers, again...drinking.... with your mates.
I love it, and you get all the really fresh smells in the air, and the suns out till like 10pm.
AND FESTIVALS!!!!!
Ahh, I'm really looking forward to the next few months.

I don't like being outside if there's no shade or anything- summer for me has sometimes included short periods of working at stable yards and it's horrible when you're out in the baking sun setting up jumps or filling haynets. I really enjoy sitting outside all day if there's a tree to sit under though, you can enjoy the nice weather without getting all burnt.

I'll probably try to get my arse outside and read a few books at the level. (Big grassy area)
