Forest have signed Earnshaw for £2.65 million.
They have also supposedly had a £1 million bid for Cardiff's Peter Whittingham rejected.
This post is only interesting to Forest fans...

To quote Djimi Traore:
“There are good English clubs where you can open out. A club like West Ham is a very good club.
“If a club like that calls me, I would sign straight away.”
... Of course wether Curbs is interested in signing him is another matter...

In non-Forest news it looks like Zoltan Gera is joining Fulham (http://www.westbromwichalbion-mad.co.uk/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=394685) after rejecting a new contract at West Brom.
Ipswich's £4 million bid for Shola Ameobi has been rejected by Newcastle (http://ukpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5hdbEqcznhXCaRpVDiKGWt17G75Pw)...
In other news Jay-Jay Okocha has been released (http://allafrica.com/stories/200806060222.html) by newly-promoted Hull.

It started as a rumour people giggled at. But the Man City tried their luck and it seems that Goofy might want to slum it next season.
Rafael van der Vaart [Hamburg > Arsenal] :trex:x3
Although Spurs could get involved. The new Hamburg coach is Martin Jol so he may make a difference as he wants both Younes Kaboul and Kevin Prince Boateng.

I dont think we'll sign Villa or any big striker because I think Rafa wants to play a shifting 4-5-1, with Gerrard, Barry and Masch in the middle, supported by two wingers that can create and score....Babel will hopefully be one of them in a year or two if he keeps developing as he is, just need someone to fill in on the right.
Bently would be okay, but I would rather we set our sights higher.
Barry, though, is an absolute must. Him and Gerrard would form an instant understanding, and throwing Torres into the mix would make for a creative trio of players that would make any defense unlockable.
So..Barry, someone on the right, and at a push if we can afford him, Johnson, because he's going to be quality in the future.
Andranik from Bolton to Fulham on a free. Major, major news.

Torres is one of the best bits of business EVER. In ONE season he's risen in value by 25-odd million. Thats insane.
Alonso....I love the lad, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if he left. I think we need to strengthen in other areas, and we have PLENTY of DM's....especially if Rafa IS going for more of a shifting 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation, he'd only end up playing second fiddle to Masch.
Lucas is good enough to be cover for the first team.
What to do with Dirk though? Not buy a right winger and use him? He's just scored against France as I write this, and was EMENSE against Italy....we all know he has talent, and he works so hard that you really have to TRY to dislike him....frankly he deserves better than being a sub.
If we're gunna use Kuyt still, we NEED a real world class left winger....I mean puring EVERY pound we don't spend on Barry into the left wing...a 20mill+ rated player.

Great young player and I have no doubt he'll be a huge asset for us in the future, but i'm not convinced he's there yet. He's a superb impact sub, and Rafa loves to have those kinda backup players...and even if we got a left winger, he'd still start Babel every so often..
But I think he's alot like Theo, in that his talents at this stage of his career, are best used mostly as an sub to turn the game on it's head with his lightning pace.
Looks like I called it though, with ALOT of rumors surrounding us going in for Silva. He's a fantastic left winger, exactly the kinda player I was talking about.

My mother works in Ladbrokes (there is a point to this) and the tills are on one big computer system which is all linked together. They get news posted via the head office onto all the computers they use behind the counters, and lately one or two things have come up a day or so before it's announced in the papers, one example I can remember is the sacking of the Italian football manager after they got knocked out.
Well the other day it came up on screen that Drogba is staying at Chelsea, I'm yet to hear anything in the papers and that so I'm on the bar with this (although I'd love for it to be true!). I'll try and keep updated with all the news that comes through their machines as much as possible.

Being an armchair city fan, I'm allowed to have an opinion on the latter transfer. I think Tal will do pretty well to get into the starting squad, what with the stalwarts of defence that are Richards and Dunne competing for the places too. He'll probably start the first game of the season, due to Dunne's suspension (carried over from last season), but as soon as Dunne is back, BH will probably be a benchwarmer, unless Hughes chooses to rotate is defence.

Silva to Liverpool, Rafa might be giving up on Barry since it looks as if Xabi might be staying (and I hope he does, simply because i've always said that Arsenal have always been a Xabi Alonso away from a truely great team)
I suppose Silva is more sensible really. We need a left-sider more than we need Barry...even though we'd probably have played Barry on the left anyways. Silva is a truely great young talent, and he's played against/with Torres enough to know his runs, so...
I'd still like to IDEALY see us buy Silva, and Xabi to move abroad so we can get Barry. If he goes to Artsenal, he goes to Arsenal....but I don't know if it would benefit us, because it's no good making our squad better if we're goign to improve our title rivals squad in the process.

Alonso'd be a good signing, but we probably wouldn't need him if we still had Flamini. What Arsenal really need is a centre-half. A really big one who can actually win headers and play alongside either Kolo Toure or Willy Gallas, which of course we aren't looking for.

Interesting this Corluka saga...
Let me start by saying that I am neither City or Spurs, but I do know a little about what is happening with Corluka due to a 'business' interest.
When Spurs first made contact, it was Shinawatra's people that agreed a fee with Spurs and told Corluka he was free to leave. They did that without Mark Hughes' knowledge or consent.
Corluka was suprised to say the least. When Hughes took over he told Corluka he was one of the mainstays in his future plan for MCFC. Nevertheless, Corluka travelled to London to meet with Spurs' people.
Hughes then found out about the deal, and basically vetoed it - which was something the Thai's people had agreed he could do with any transfer activity when he took over. That's when Corluka was summoned back to Manchester to go up to Glasgow for the Celtic friendly.
Behind the scenes a real row started between Hughes and certain elements of the board; Hughes furious that they had gone behind his back to sell Corluka to Spurs, and the board enraged that Hughes had effectively recalled him from London for the Celtic game.
Shinawatra's people told Hughes that evening that the deal was 'too good to turn down', largely due to Shinawatra's financial problems. So, immediately after the Celtic game, Corluka flew back to London to resume talks with Spurs.
When Spurs' initial offer was accepted, Corluka had no real desire to leave City. That wasn't anything against Spurs, more the vision for the future of MCFC he had been sold by Hughes and Cook. However, after meeting with Spurs and talking with Modric, Corluka was sold on Tottenham and agreed terms. He went through a two-day medical, which he passed without problem. He's been holed up in a London since early Friday morning - hence why he missed the club photo.
Spurs agreed the final details for the transfer with City yesterday morning, and Corluka put pen to paper on his player registration.
Then City's people accepted the offer from Sunderland for Stephen Ireland, and Hughes went properly mental. Twice in 48 hours he felt he was having players he wanted sold from under him. In a rage, it was Hughes who called Ireland and told him he was expected to report to the CoMS to report for the Milan game. Hughes putting him on for a couple of minutes was a big statement on his part.
Here comes the really interesting part.
Hughes last night told Cook he was through with City and wants out, the sale of Corluka and Ireland being the straw that broke the camel's back. He said if the Corluka deal went through particularly, he would be on his way out of City too.
At that point City have tried to derail the Corluka and Ireland deals.
BUT, Spurs claim to have completed the paper work for the transfer which has already been lodged with the FA and signed by someone from City with authorisation to do so. City say they agreed a sale in principle with Spurs, but that no final transfer documents had been signed.
As such Corluka, who was expecting to be paraded at White Hart Lane this afternoon, is in limbo. However, he has now set his heart on Spurs and linking up with Modric and has told City he will not return to the CoMS under any circumstances. He has been sold on Tottenham, and become frustrated with the background stuff taking place at City.
Spurs and City are maintaining their respective positions, but Spurs have basically told City that they are willing to see the issue go to court. They believe they have signed Corluka, and Corluka wants to play for them.
What a mess.

Arsenal are in dire need of a center-back..but let's face it, Wenger has never hidden the fact that he neglects his defense in expense for chasing stylish players.
Xabi Alonson would be a great coup for Arsenal, and he's be alot better than Flamini too.
Seems whatever we do, Arsenal will add a player to their books, be that Barry or Alonso.

That's not really true. He signs more attacking players because it suits the way he plays. The defence up until very recently has been solid.

Berbatov to Real Madrid would be the best option for Spurs.
However, he already appears to be in talks with United so I guess there's no turning back.
Robinho -> Man City = done deal, £32.5 million, £92k per week.
Bit of a turn up for the books that, isn't it?

Even I can't argue that. We get all pissy when Real Madrid tried to pull shit with Ronaldo then do the exact same thing with Berbatov? Clearly Ronaldo was doing it wrong, he should've just refused to play and sulked until he got his way.

I was half-expecting some consortium of Franco-Welsh business men to buy Forest and then purchase all of the Real Madrid first team.

Nothing special in the Premiership yet, but worth noting: Mario Gomez to FC Bayern for £26m (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5349314,00.html)

£26m is a lot of money for a Gomez in my opinion. I've not seen him play very much, but what I saw at Euro 2008 was rather bland and unimaginative. Still, if he can score 20+ goals as season for three years i the Bundesliga, its not a terrible move.
Might mean Luca Toni and his ridiculous wages are out the door though.

It seems that although Ronaldo said "I'm not leaving" before the Champions League final, the press are determined to write about him moving to Real Madrid.
they also seem to have a thing for Franck Ribery going to Chelsea, Real or United for anywhere between £30m and £60m.

Tottenham are interested with everyone. Every year they get linked with half the premiership and most half decent foreigners. They can't help themselves during the transfer window, they just buy anyone, usually in positions they don't need.

I read only today that Kaka had said he had no plans to move this summer.
Also, Gareth Barry in talks with Man City over a £12million deal. He must be going for money since City aren't in Europe and Barry said a bit back that he wants to play Champions League football. Lets see if anyone else comes in for him.
AngryPaul

He's signed for £12m and £100,000 a week.
Maybe he realised he was 28 and that it was easier to jump at the money rather than wait it out with Liverpool and possibly end up with Villa on 'pittance' for another year.

Doubt that it will be for £56m, but it seems that it could happen...I don't know. Perez is back in charge and he was the Galactico president, so I wouldn't be surprised if Real started throwing money around.

I think the summer will be summed up like this:
- The Tevez saga drums on and on until the end the transfer window when United finally sign him.
- Cristinao Ronaldo won't go anywhere
- Franck Ribery will be linked with Chelsea and United, but ends up at Barcelona
- Man City spend £30m on another player who won't actually do very well for them.
- United sign a few youngsters
- Liverpool make a big £20m+ signing
- Burnley spend about £3m

Roman apparently took a personally involvement in Carlo "Fatter Mourinho if you squint a bit" Ancelotti's appointment and is eager to bankroll the club even more.
Apparently the Kaka bid is complete fabrication, but a £35m (ish) bid for Pato is pretty realistic.
