Hello fellow weeblers.

It's mine and the boy's 3 year anniversary in September, and his 21st shortly after that. To celebrate, I are taking him on a surprise trip to Dublin for a few days.

Has anyone here been? Any recommended places to visit? Tips for what to do/what not to do?

+'s for anyone with any good advice!

Temple Bar is a good place to go, small shops and bars and things. I can't think of much at the moment, but that's mainly cos I'm down south and I'm not there often enough to explore the whole place. If I think of more, I'll post again.

Temple bar is awesome if you want to meet English people on stag dos.

People always recommend the Guinness tour but only because you get a free pint at the end.

What else? Try spend a day in the Phoenix Park. Go to the Zoo which is in the Phoenix Park btw (I once saw Colin Farrell there  ). Chase the deer (not in the zoo). Roll down the hill at the popes cross.

Theres quite a fun tour bus and it goes in water and stuff.

Don't know what its called, my sister and her mate loved it, great childish fun. Involved being a viking i think.

Yeah I see that boat/truck/thing-a-majig go by quite often when I'm on my way to college. Looks like good fun. You get to wear cool Viking helmets!!!!!

Ok, I seem to be the only Dubliner here, so here's what I recommend:

1) Go to Grafton Street and laugh at the posh people

2) Go to temple bar and laugh at the emo's

3) While in templebar have a coffee/pint and check out the shops, they sell a lot of cool shit in templebar.

4) Laugh at as many skangers as you can. Although only do that by day, as by night you'll get your head kicked in.

5) Don't go on the hop on hop off bus tours. They'll tell you a whole load of shite that you don't really need to know and are quite stupid.

6) Do a bit of shopping, with the current currency exchange, things are slightly cheaper in this neck of the woods in comparison to the UK.

7) Go out and get drunk in a metal pub. I recommend bruxelles (grafton street) or Doyles (College Street).

In order to see the real dublin instead of the shite those tour companies tell you about, you'll need to spend about a week in the city centre alone. There's plenty to do and you probably won't end up doing half the stuff you planned on doing.

PS. See the buskers on grafton street. They've got some great acts :) Oh and don't go to temple bar at night, it's crap! It's only good during the day.

*cough*

Some of the buskers are ok. Can't stand them human statues though, some of them give out lollipops. Don't trust them!

Also I was in bruxelles about a month ago. The jukebox has such a large selection on it and theres an arcade machine!! Its a bit small though.

If anyone asks you if you're Catholic or Protestant, just say you're neither. Seriously. It's for the better.

Lol who goes around asking people what religion they are?

The car/boat thing is called The viking splash tour.

Throwing bottles at the police is quite an enjoyed activity there.

Lol who goes around asking people what religion they are?

A guy asked me if I was a christian, and when I replied that I wasn't, he put his hand on my head and started shouting "Repel all evil spirits!"...

On topic, I don't really know anything about dublin. Do that viking thing though, because vikings are cool

No one will ask you this in Dublin. Or Belfast. Or anywhere.

Seriously though, don't get into any car as 80% of them will be exploded by the 'ra.

Also seriously, don't eat any potatos as they have been made inedible by the blight.

Also also seriously, watch out for Oliver Cromwell.

What? Ever hear of reality, noone in Ireland gives a fuck what religion you are! Especially if it's YOUR round :D

Throwing bottles at the police is quite an enjoyed activity there.

This is untrue. We tolerate the Orange Order. The fact is, having them march on our turf was very much a no-no culturally speaking. So what do you expect?
