Ok I can't actually support that statement because it isn't true.
If you want to see the damage alcohol causes with a little experment using blood (you can obtain this by your own means; I'm not suggesting how):
Get something which has a VERY high alcohol content, such as a very strong spirit, or nail varnish remover, or after shave. Wipe the blood on a small pad or tissue. Drop some of the substance onto the blood.
Notice how one second the bloods red, the next its black.

But still it don't stop me drinking. Meh.
