LG Viewty (KU990)

Great phone, camera isn't the dogs bollocks like you would think, the auto-focus is terrible. Reliable phone though, decent battery life and the option for some cheap external memory. Not bad at all, all in all.

Major disadvantage is the lack of Wi-fi though.

I have a Samsung D900.

I bought this mainly because it was free on a o2 contract = me happy!

I have had it for about 14 months now - and it was a 12 month contract and I'm actually getting the service (100 mins and 20 texts) free for a year now!... = me very happy

It has a 3MP camera which I use for still shots and an ok mp3 player though I tend to use my standalone camera and mp3 player 95% of the time...

...Really as long as it can make receive calls and texts I'm happy :)

Samsung J700.

From O2 for £69.99.

It's an older Samsung model, hence it only has a 1.3MP camera, and 13MB internal memory.

Still, it has Bluetooth unlike my older phone (which I got when Bluetooth was becoming really readily available) which only had infra-red (IrDA) which DIDN'T work.

And it plays mp3s. I have a 2GB microSD in there so I can have lots of tunes!

Yay!

It also has a Tetris Demo in the games too. =D

Sony Ericsson W550

http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/a/0/0/a/e/AAAACq8wJ4oAAAAAAArjjQ.jpg

Pros:

Enough memory for four Ben Folds albums
Pretty good camera
Bloody good light built in
Compact and light yet surprisingly robust
Incredibly good battery - charges in an hour, enough for more than a week - even after several years of use
Is orange, my favourite colour

Cons:

Swivel can get on your nerves
No memory card slot
Locking keys can be slightly dubious at times

I have a Sony Ericsson Z610i (http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/mobilephones/overview/z610i).

It's a super-shiny flip-phone. I seem to be attracted to shiny things that get fingerprints all over them really easily. Anyway, it's your typical phone/mp3 player/camera hybrid, with a slot for external memory (currently occupied by the stick that came with it, a meagre 64MB). The camera is 2.0 mega pixels, and isn't that great in all honesty.

Click the link for a proper overview, but all in all it's quite average.

I have a Sony Ericsson W580.

I chose it as I just needed to update my rapidly dying Nokia 5200. I didn't really need it for the Walkman capability, just something which could do all the stuff my old one did.

However, it does have a pedometer, which is just awesome

I've had the Nokia N95 8GB for 3/4 months now and it is great.

5mp camera is better than any other 5mp camera out there due to the carl zeiss optics. 8gb internal memory means no need for mem cards. built in gps means you can throw the sat nav away. stereo sound through integrated speakers. massive screen. built in wifi.

only downside is that some people say its big. i don't think this i a problem really, as long as you're not wearing tight jeans, it will fit in your pocket fine.

Today I just received the Samsung Tocco in the mail. So I will give you a quick run down of its pros and cons.

PROS:
Sleek and slim design.
Easily fits in the palm of your hand.
Almost fully touch screen, so things are quite simple.
The touch screen is quite sensitive and the phone vibrates slightly letting you know that you've pressed something.
Easy to navigate around.
Customizable widget system.
The MP3 player looks quite nice

CONS:
Texting can become awkward at times.

I shall edit this when I've had a good look at it more in depth, which will include an in depth look at the camera, which is 5MP. I will also have a look at the battery life. So far I am very impressed with the phone.

Last week I upgraded to a Samsung SGH-F490V, it's the new touch-screen one - and MY GOD it's rubbish! Immensely rubbish, luckily for me Vodafone do a 14-day "peace of mind" thing, which means I got until Friday to take it back and cancel the contract with no penalties.... me thinks I may get an iPhone seeing as I broke my iPod.

Could you go into more detail about why it's so bad? Because I chose the Tocco over that on a whim and I want to know how much of a good decision that was.

Are you paid to say this tripe?

I've used the Nokia N95 and the N95 8GB for around 18 months now. The phone may sport some gucci lenses, but the phone is appalling at capturing closeup images without some extreme tweaking for each image. Cameraphones aren't designed to replace top-end or even mid-range digital cameras; people tend to use cameraphones to grab a shot within seconds, not spend half hour customising the shot settings. Reviewing photos is very pretty and slick, but the Gallery application isn't very versatile and don't even think about managing multiple folders' worth of photos.

8gb isn't a great deal. I ended up buying two 8gb sticks for my N95 to hotswap which was a pain in itself, having to be stuck with 8gb of internal memory is a real kick in the arse. And woe betide you should you use more than half of any given storage capacity, the phoooone staaaarts toooo ruuuun reeeallly slooooooooowly.

The GPS is great if you're stood in the middle of an airstrip standing deadly still for half-hour or more, otherwise the GPS signal reception is very very very pool. Pity really, as the Nokia Maps app is reasonably decent.

The speakers aren't bad at all but suffer the usual musicphone curse of having all the bass output of a wet fart. Supplied headphones are of a surprisingly good quality, the screen is indeed good, but the motion sensor in the N95 8GB is more irritating than handy. The WiFi is a decent addition but eats batteries faster than you can say Google, but for the most part the Web application is decent enough.

Messaging is straightforward, though the ridged keypad is seriously horrible. I used to send between 1250-1750 messages a month using my old 6260 and N80; the N95 series infuriated me so much I ended up tweaking my tarriff to get more voice minutes to save me using the bastard keypad.

In all, it's a decent phone, providing you don't centre your life around it. It's faults become glaringly obvious and irritating, and I still maintain that my 3330 was the best phone I've ever used.

Nokia N80 (original edition) atm - I'm still waiting for the N96 to be released.

Quadband operation.
3MP camera with multi-flash modes.
Hot-Swap memory Slot to avoid turning your phone off for memory swapping.
Bluetooth 2.0EDR
Wi-Fi
3G
Infrared connection
Advanced security features to avoid stealing including locking the phone to use one designated SIM card with a 6-Digit PIN (There are LOTS of PINS on this phone!!!!)
Realplayer
3D Snake (that is pretty f'd up right there - it is straight-forward at the start, then the difficulty ramps up)
Oodles of Card games
Great Media Player
Symbian OS - yes, this is a SMART phone
Customisable themes and wallpapers
Photo-editing suite.

There are plenty more features on this phone that I have probably forgotten to mention but I cannot think of now.

Smart-Phones are battery munchers though, I am on my third battery and I have only had it for two years.

I did try a new Motorola V3 Razer (blahblahblah) but I was very disappointed.

I have a 6300 but it needs a serious OS flash - I am making an appointment with a Nokia Engineer.

Dad had a 6500 slide but he has misplaced it somewhere and doesn't know where the heck it is - he needs a Vodafone SIM to get coverage on his site at AZ.
