A huge ongoing saga in the footballing community has made another move. With Barton pleading guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm which adds a 4 month suspended sentence to the 6 months he is currently serving his future with Newcastle United is uncertain. What do people make of the situation?

I personally believe that he will be given a final chance with the club. Fairly recently they shelled out £6 million on him and simply firing him would be a massive loss. Also, the fact that the sentence is suspended means the situation is no worse than when he was jailed in May. If he was going to be fired surely it would have happened already. Should he be released he would probably be picked up by a Championship club in a short time.

As a Newcastle fan I was unhappy to see him arrive. His talent has not be seen and his off the field antics have given the media even more ammunition against the club. That being said, the squad is small and he may well be needed.

Playing football is his job.
If it was a bloke working in an office who had done what this guy has, he'd have been most likely sacked by his employer and locked up for a certain period of time.

I'm sick of footballers getting away with this sort of stuff.

If it is, surely he now has to serve 10 months as its not his first conviction?

He hasn't committed an offense since the sentence, if he did then he would serve the 4 months. Even more motivation for him to turn a new leaf.

He won't change.

He's a nasty piece of work. Newcastle isn't the right place for him....he's AT the right place right now....Jail. Throw away the key, I say.

Trouble has followed him everywhere he goes. He's been in so many fights, hit so many people, broken so many bones.
