OK, the premise of this thread is this: Alien space bats from Omega 9 come down from the sky and tell you that you have only one day to live. However they let you send a message to your four year old self before you die. (In a voice recording or on paper, you'll be talking to a four year old so the message might want to be repeated!) Would you and what would it be?

For me, I'd say: "Here are the winning lottery numbers from 1995 and up, enjoy! Also, stay away from fools with too much cash. If idiots try and drag you down tell your friends, that's what they're there for! Plus, don't worry about bullies at school, it'll pass soon enough and you'll have a groovy time anyway! At uni, girls who are friends don't equal girlfriends, so don't bother trying! Seriously, I mean it! If you could you'd thank me later!"

So, how about you? :)

i'd say "paradoxes don't work very well"

then not exist, because this story can't work in real life

then not exist, because this story can't work in real lifeI guess I thought "Alien space bats from Omega 9" might give you a clue that this wasn't an entirely serious concept. Guess not...

In any case, it's just a scenario to make an interesting discussion. If you're too lazy to contribute, feel free to not post in the thread. :)

Too bad you didn't follow your own advice.

I wouldn't try to change too much; as it happens, I quite like who I am and I think that if I tell my 4 year old self to do things differantly then I wouldn't become the person that I am now. But I may want to tell him not to grow up to be such a pretentious wanker... :P

My message would be:

"Learn electronics and quantum mechanics, then follow this diagram to build a time machine. And don't lose this piece of paper."

I'd tell myself that there's no need to worry about girls, just go with it (as I have done already) and be the guy who I am.

I wouldn't tell myself anything because hey, it'd change who I am, and that could have drastic consequences.

Don't cling to your father too much, he's going to hurt you one day.

Although the Microsoft stock idea sounds like a winnar too.

Sugar is bad for you and a poor diet over an extended period can give you long-term stomach problems.

Also, wrap your tool. You really don't want the clap.

In 10 years time you will encounter a hot girl who sits behind you in History and German.

If you wish to remain sane for the following 2 years, just ignore her.

"Don't be a dick" about covers it.

I might draw a picture of a monkey or something to go with it.

I probably wouldn't want to change anything... After all, even the slightest change can have dramatic effects on the future, and you really don't want a reality changed by me. Seriously.

Here's all the details for Euro 2008, DO NOT LOSE THIS

My reasoning is by that time i'll still be me and I like me at the moment.
This will just turn me into 'rich me', or at least 'I have more money than future me me'.

Edit:
