FANTASY FOOTBALL 08/09

Just for fun and completely free. Based on the Premier League site's competition.
You can register at the address below.
REGISTER HERE (http://fantasy.premierleague.com/)

You get to pick a squad of 15 players from a 100m budget:

2 Goalkeepers
5 Defenders
5 Midfielders
3 Forwards

You can select up to 3 players from any one Premiership team.
Full rules on scoring and transfers at the address below.

The competition starts at 11.30am on August 16th and you can make unlimited free substitutions up till then.

To join the Weebl & Bob League, when you have registered and picked your team click on the 'Leagues' link from your team homepage. Enter the following code into the "Join a private league" box (you can enter 5 leagues in total I think).

If you're having problem with this code make sure you haven't copied and pasted a space after the numbers.

The league is restricted to forum members. When you have joined please post your team name in this thread.

I think it's unlimited transfers before the first deadline. Being an idiot and taking the information it gives you literally, I've called my team "up to 20 characters." (specifically says your team name can be this :p) I've gone with:

Keepers - D James, M Schwarzer
Defenders - R Ferdinand, M Laursen, G Cahill, A Ferdinand, G Johnson
Midfielders - C Fabregas (c), A Young, N Kranjcar, Nani, D Hamann
Strikers - R Santa Cruz, Jo, G Agbonlahor

but may change if and when ridiculed by you lot :)

might as well do this again, even though i failed miserably last season (still beat AP though!!)

hmmm... my team is interesting. i think i spent too much on gerrard, torres, barry, modric and santa cruz, and as a result the rest of my team is suffering a little :p Come on Caleb Folan!!!!! I also think it's a good thing Bristol City aren't in the prem this year as I would definitely have 3 city players in my team :D

I was at the Emirates Cup...he did well, but not QUITE as well as the papers have said, they're going abit mental right now, perhaps due to the lack of big transfers over the weekend?

But for his age he looked good, might see him in the Carling Cup.

Saying that, if Arsenal don't stop their incredibly frustrating "pass the ball 50,000 times then sky it from 20 yards" routine that I saw against a very lacklustre Juve, then there won't be any points to be had anyway! Hell, if you got a point for every pass, i'd have nothing BUT Arsenal players.

Entered, by the way, with a different team to the above.

Also entered the Fantasy League online £10 game. Gunna try commit to it this year :p

Also yay for this being behind on transfers (this was from about a week and a half ago BTW) - I've got four Villa players now (Friedel, Laursen, Ashley Young and Carew) instead of the max 3 due to Friedel's transfer. But since I played my wildcard in week.... 2 last time (?) I doubt it'll last!

Some crazy prices about this season - FOURTEEN for Ronaldo seems a bit much even with last season in mind - so my team might not be as bad as it looks to me ATM. Having two ...three midfielders with a http://fantasy.premierleague.com/images/fpl/infowarn.gif already though is a bit :(

Looked a little off to me.

Anyway, the game. Nice and consistent so far with 41 both weeks. Team's getting on my nerves though: currently 6 out or doubtful (two injuries, one suspension, one Olympian and two more doubtful with injuries) as well as Rio Ferdinand not playing next week. So that's seven players and I'd rather not have Anton Ferdinand if he's off to Sunderland, might drop in value. Sold Laursen and might get rid of Friedel next week too (doing one transfer a week if I can to avoid costs), our defence really sucks. Given away a penalty in both games and conceded the most in the league along with Stoke, as well as scoring the most, oddly (Carew and Agbonlahor are the top strikers on 19 each now :D). Then again, he might save one at some point... Oh, and I NEED Deco too but I can only swap him for Fabregas or Ashley Young due to costs, and I don't want to risk selling Fabregas in case he's still good or Young since he's so attack-minded he was a striker last year. And besides, think of the assists!

Yeah anyway, 4th yay!

Well this has been a bad week. 17 points (10 from Fabregas as captain) BUT miraculously my head-to-head opponent is currently on 8 :D

Still, could be worse. If you're the guy bottom of our league you may or may not know you've had two players sent off this week!

My other team (there are reasons...) was funny. 79 points and I had Ashley Young as captain. So had he not missed that penalty it would've been 93!

I already had Wheater in, so that's -2 already. Decided to put Anelka as captain this week though which turned out to be a half decent idea. Shame i'm getting no points for Griffin (Stoke) and Delap hasn't delivered the points I expected him to over the past few weeks.

Generally having a really sucky season, don't know what has gone wrong.

Fantasy Cup! Qualifying round this week, so you needed to get in the top 1,024,576 this week to play next week. That's about 31 points so who's in, who's out, what's your opponent like? Personally I screwed up a little by keeping Ronaldo as my captain and keeping Rio Ferdinand in my team, but got in with 34. Playing a team next week called Inter Mymissus (:D) who aren't that good but scored more than me anyway last week.

Also top of the Head to Head league now yes! :D

I (somehow) scraped in with 36, thanks basically to Fulham keeping a clean sheet and Glen Johnson not playing. I've had a really shit December, 1,382,571th for it. Oh and I'm top of my head to head league by 4 points despite losing twice in the last 3 weeks. I've been quite lucky though, I'd only be 6th if it was based on actual points.

1) hangeland didn't play :(
2) newcastle's late goal cost me 8 points :(
3) i was torn between choosing james or schwarzer for bench, guess which one i chose :(

Other team though... lost 68-74 in the Fantasy Cup and had Carlton Cole on the bench (who I swapped for van Persie), who got 11 :(

Bump! On a related note, unless this week goes horribly wrong I'll be to in February. Currently (or at least it says I am) I'm 667th out of 2 million this month :D
