Recovery Discs

I'm trying to make recovery discs for my new HP pavillion laptop.

However when I insert the DVDs I get an error telling me the DVD is not blank! I've checked my disc tray and I'm supposed to be using DVD+ and thats what I put in.

Any ideas? Could it be something to do with the speed maybe? The DVD I'm trying to use is 4x... is there any way on Vista to check what sort of discs need using at all? I don't know my way round Vista well enough yet...

Most new DVDs +R are x16 write speed as most DVD writers are either x16 or x20. When did you buy the discs? Maybe you need to try a new batch.

My dad bought them... eventually HP were actually helpful and have said that the will send me recovery disks for free :)

apparently my recovery partition might be corrupted... but not to worry as its not serious :s
