Have you made any movies of your own?
I spent three months making a stop motion out of candy. It had an elaborate LOTR type story:
the chocolate bunny forged a fun-ion ring of power- a sheep went off in search of it- a princess got stolen on the way- he tries to get her back.
It ends up in one big battle scene where gummi bears are being squashed, mutalated- peeps are run through with swords, and then sheep come running in to kill them all. The bunny king melts into a big pile of goo (because of the heat of the spot lights) and he's eaten by my school's student council president who declares while licking his fingers, "Who's the bunny king now? bwa hahaha!"
I know lots of people who have made jackass type movies and just taken a camera around filming random junk. So have you made any of your own? Or if you could make one, what would you do?

I had to make a short film last year. It's about a caffeinated gamer who has to get milk. It wasn't that great IMHO, but others seemed to like it.
I got C- in the module and I'm currently arranging hosting so people can see how bad it is. :p

I made a 10 minute short comedy film about this guy who thinks he's a Vampire Hunter. It won an award at a major film festival so woo, yay for me!

I took the character images off of stavrosjer's website and made a stop-motion animation. I'll post it when it's finished, and when I feel brave

i made a martial arts movie ripe for parody. it had the villain valmont, stealing the world's smallest nuclear bomb. that's not it though, he also made clones of himself (distinguished by power rings). police agents tag and trixie went to investigate but trixie was kidnapped and tag killed. valmont's old police school buddy (valmont accidentlly shot an instructor and therefore went evil) dirk steel was asked by the cheif of police to find agent trixie and stop valmont destroying the world! cue many elaborate fight scenes and intricate camera trickery to make the audience believe there were clones. i think it's the best thing me and my bro ever did, and i might make a sequel. possibly with a robot valmont.

Yeah I've made a few little ones..
- Me and buch of friends mountainboarding. Loads of fun and a funny movie (lots of falling =)
- Me and my brother decided that I was time to ruin the table in our back yard.. (well ok, we had to get rid of it anyway). So we got a camera, an axe and a chainsaw and made tiny bits of it :)
- Latest one.. a friend of mine just bought a new kite and wanted to set his old one on fire. It was nearly new year so we used fireworks.. great, great fun :p
editing is fun..

at the moment im in the making of two films, one is really serious and is being made for a guy at uni, and the other is erm less serious.
the serious one is kind of like a spoof of a romantic film but the comedy is subtel and the script works quite well, in the film i play a drug dealer.
the other film is being written by me and a few mates its called "phil fights bare people" and basically were gonna film my mate phil fighting bare people, some fights will be staged others wont, but it should be pretty damn funny.

Brought this back because I had a few more to add and I figured there has to be more people out there who make films, and its been over two months, so those who already contributed may have made new ones...
My latest production:
I filmed my sister doing two sides of a conversation, split the screen in half and it looked like she was twins. Then I made a short film out of it (I'm very proud of it actually).
I also did one where my sister laid down on a couch and then she stepped out of her own body. I couldn't figure out how to make it to where they weren't both transparent, so I put some garbage mats on it, and made it look like the one on the couch was flashing in and out of life (from transparent to full), and the other one stood (#2) there watching. Then #2 walked over to #1 (they were both completely transparent) touched her and then they both came to life. Took me all of 45 minutes!
So those are my special effects ones.. also did one on a physics momentum problem where I filmed beanie babies playing table hockey outside, and where barbie cars collided, but that was just a small assignment (did it in place of a powerpoint).
What kind of editing systems do you all use? I love Final Cut Pro.. I started on iMovie though (I hate it now).

Me and some friends are planning a little sketch show type thing, some really random stuff, basically a cross between Monty python type stuff (I was raised on them), Trigger Happy TV (I love to freak out random strangers) and Jackass (getting hurt on film is fun), for example, one sketch which I came up with (not to brag but I come up with most) a guy in Macdonalds (a real one, not a set up), orders a quarter pounder but asks 'um, could you take out the....er.....what are they now?' At this a guy wearing a feather boa, top hat and an ammo belt filled with gerkins, hanging from the hat and in the boa are more gerkins, jumps from round a corner or down the stairs, shout 'GERKINS!!!' And runs out, after which the ordering guy says 'yeah, those' (one hell of a lot funnier when I think about it than when I write it).
One other thing which I have is a group of us setting fire to things (funny at the time, not anymore).
I'm planning on making some films though, serious and otherwise.

That sounds fun! I'm bad with the humor aspect, so all of my films are generally about the special effects (mainly because I'm trying to learn how to use them all), but I wish I could pull of comic skits and stuff of that nature.
Working with blue and green screens next! Takes lots of patience, but its fun!

Finished: Kjekkass Jackass thingy who gave us a 5 out of 6 points possible during a activity week at school,
The Mafia a comedy about the murders of a drunken russian mob boss in Norway, two randomly murdered prostitutes, the murder of a japanese mob boss, 3 reporters and a police investigator without gloves. who large parts of the youngsters in my family participated in when we were bored,
Little Red Riding Hood A silent movie with music. I played the wolf(won me a "better death scene than spock" award)
The Mountain patrol from the same guys that made "Kjekkass", with help from a local TV-Station.. 4 guys shows off the beautiful scenery, and make a lot of inside jokes wich suprisingly many people got!! This thing actually got aired on large parts of north western norway!!
Post Production: Once upon a time in The North West, the longest and hardest thing ever done.. Or that we will do.. Based on The Oddysey, but set in the present and as a crazy western.. And it's just a matter of weeks, not years and no poseidon.. Contains Pie..

Coolness.. I'd love to get something I made onto the television.. my only problem is I only have AFN over here, American Forces Network, and its all directed towards the military. No fun.
What sort of equiptment does everyone use?
I use Canon GL2's mainly.. GL1's as well, when the GL2's are elsewhere. I own a small sony digital camera, but only use it for home movies, as its not the best quality..

made one for Expressive arts coursework.
series of short images or stories.
opened with the standard "sand-rolls-of-paper-to-leave-words" montage to make it look artsy.
then a man who looked very sick (3 nights of sleep deprivation, aren't I dedicated?) accounting a series of fever dreams.
then a a weird sequence of my partner, his younger brother and father's faces edited to mold into eachover and then on whilst the bird's "turn, turn, turn" played.
then a sequence at dusk with the pair of us both dressed in black and wearing white masks emerged froma graveyard and did a short dance piece, some people walked past and we scuttled back behind the tomb stones.
then we had a mock parody of the charity advert, but for children locked out on the rooftops, featuring a friend who looks barely this side of death due to over-use of drugs, much sad music and close ups on his eyes as we extole what benefits we can give him for a mere two pounds a month.
then finally we concluded with a black and white piece in which a journalist invited to investigate an old blood noble who turns out to be a vampire, this being the highlight featured the scene where the vampire was exposed to sunlight and by extension died (actor stands near window, camera off, actor allows tux to fall to floor, camera on)
being the talented young men we are, we got an A* each for it

I mainly make Spoofs of things in the media.
My brother and I made a hilarious spoof of the The Crocodile Hunter in which my brother (playing Steve Irwin) hunted down an alien living in a room.
The high point was when a bunch of monkies came and foght the alien whilst the song "Duel of the Fates" from Star Wars Episode 1 screamed in the backround. Then the slowmotion defeat of the monkies.
Then another time, my friends Psychohamster and I made a spoof of Lord of The Rings. I do a VERY ACCURATE Gollum impression. (I need to make a Gollum spoof cartoon one day just so others can hear it). I played Gollum and I was the cameraman.
Then yet another time, Me, Psychohamster, Fatbear, and CloudNeroZ made a cartoon where a serial killer was hunting down his victims. It ended when I (playing the grizzled War Veteran) took my cane and beat the snot out of Psychohamster. (Literally, I gave him a good thwaking:twisted: )
Then the serial killer and the War Veteran watched Matlock together.
