It can't just be me that's excited about the second Fable coming out, can it?
I loved the original.
Go heeeeeere - http://www.lionhead.com/fable2/
"Set 500 years after the original, "Fable 2" will provide gamers with an epic story and innovative real-time gameplay, including a massive amount of freedom and choice to explore a vast collection of dungeons, catacombs and caves in the world of Albion"
Hoo-RAH! Coming out some time at the end of this year I think.

I read in X360 that you can get married, have children, and then kill your wife and children.
What happened to the days of Jump-man?

Well previously you could get married and kill your wife but bringing children into the equation? Genius.

This and GOW2 are the top 2 games i'm looking forward to this year, I love the original.
I admit that i'm not looking forward to the guns thing, I would have prefered for them to stick with bows, but I suppose it fits the background and how technology has advanced and everything.
All the screenshots and videos make it look very promising and I am most definitely getting it.
I read in X360 that you can get married, have children, and then kill your wife and children.Better yet you can go into your friends world and kill thier wife and children.
I hope lock pickings back..I do like breaking into people's houses, killing them all and then renting the house out for money.

Hey Roachy. Hey. Roachy. Hey. Guess what? I did work experience for lionhead last year. In Quality assurance. I wonder what I tested? :D
Can't wait for fable 2, it is going to be so fucking awesome.
Also, there is a collectors edition out. HMV is still listing it as not there to pre-order. But I know its coming with a hobbe figurine, so I fucking want that shit. :D

I reckon they'll have all the old tricks and more. It was really hard to go into someone's house and just not loot the place to high fuck. Being evil was just so easy.

Yoooooooouuuuuuuuuuuu bastard. :p
That said maybe they should give us a bit more incentive to be good this time around :p

Good point. I think maybe rewards that a player will really want that can only be achieved via aligning yourself either good or evil would sway it. There was a lot of "I cba to be good here so I'll just do something bad" moments in the first Fable.
Also - Ageing less quickly, plz.

Yeah that really needed sorting out in teh first fable; I thought they might have changed it in lost chapters but they didn't :(

What annoyed me about Lost Chapters is that they changed Jack of Blades' voice to one that they tried to make all dark and evil.
He sounded way better in the first Fable. A lot more creepy and bad-guyish. Plus there was less additions to the original than I expected there to be.
I've got high hopes for Fable 2, though.

Lionhead, in my experience, promise lots and deliver somewhat.
I'm not saying it'll be a bad game, I enjoyed the first, but I'm not going to listen to any hype surrounding it. PC version FTW of course. :)

Interesting good/bad system too.
There's Kindness and Cruelty, the old ones, which change your appearance, but also purity and corruption, which won't directly affect your appearance the same way. You might make you look WORSE for being better. An example is one girl is about to be cursed, to be scarred and ugly for life. If you step in and take the curse, she'll be fine. You'll be ugly for the entire game, though, but you'll be pure.
If you become very rich, beggars and poor people will become more poor, and look worse off. Looks interesting, is dat sum economy?
Oh yeah, and there's no HUD at all.
And the stuff you do as a kid will actually affect the world as an adult.
And one dungeon is actually the ruins of a forgotten area known as the "Heroes' Guild." :D
And there's no repercussion for dying, except losing any exp orbs which you didn't pick up.

Oh yeah, you can create combos with magic/melee/ranged attacks. I'm not sure about the system, but from what I've heard, you can make a combo then set it to its own combination of keys.
And environmental kills! Throwing/pushing/kicking people off towers/cliffs/down stairs/into spikes etc. not only looks awesome, but gives you bonus exp.
The release date is rumoured to be 1st October, can't wait.
I shall buy every property in Albion, and become a harsh and dictatorial king. And spawn many many children. And of course there's the whole things changing over time depending on what you do. A trading post might become a city if you buy things from it, and it'll become ruins if you steal and kill stuff in it.
Remember Molyneux made that claim about trees growing in the original fable? It's actually going to be implemented this time!

the big issue here is that while I too heard they didn't deliver on the first one, it doesn't mean it's bad. It's kind of like the whole Deus Ex 2 thing: It's actually ok in terms of story, and the gameplay isn't awful, but the gameplay was dumbed down from the first one so everyone trashes it. It doesn't make it any less fun or worth playing, it's just not as good as it could have been.

Yeah, and I wonder if they're keeping the same accents as the first game. After all, it seems more city-ish than rural this time, and Stephen Fry as a voice actor doesn't seem quite the same.

Yeah that's the direction there going in this time around, even though I like the rural countryside aspect of Fable. None of that hyped up jungle bollocks it was proper British woodland was that! (Including the Balverines)
I think they'll be varying the accents more. It was basically Posh Gentleman, Brummie, Farmer Joe or Goofy half posh - half really put on silly voice in Fable 1 lol.

No. It isn't really. Amusing can also mean "pleasantly entertaining or diverting".
The humour in the game could be shit and therefore neither of these.

No. It isn't really. Amusing can also mean "pleasantly entertaining or diverting".
The humour in the game could be shit and therefore neither of these.
Get a dictionary, man. However, if the "humour" (which websters describes as "the quality of being funny") was terrible, it wouldn't be humour at all, and you wouldn't have the ability to draw entertainment from it.
who needs a dictionary now
I call this arguing a moot point anyway because semantics = useless.
Roachy
27-07-2008, 07:59 PM
That's what I basically said... but without the Webster definition
I had skepticisms about it being less 'amusing' (see - entertaining/diverting) in terms of the humour (see - funny things which make us smile or laugh) than the previous game, which disappeared with the viewing of a screenshot in this thread.
DO U C?
you're still going.
but what I am saying, is that if there is humour, it is already amusing, thus you are being over-apt
the comparison I made about it "looking good in terms of graphics" was, it looks good, I don't know where else it would look good other than graphically.

You can have bad humour, man. Everybody finds different stuff funny and if I didn't find it funny, the humour wouldn't be entertaining for me.
It's a broadened word, humour doesn't specifically mean something is funny anymore, which is why you can say "The humour in this film/game/book is shite" or "Your humour is awful".
If I don't find it funny funny than the humour won't amuse me.
:/

I wasn't going to step in, but since its still going, I'll say Roachy has the point here. A game can be amusing in ways besides humour (i.e. gamplay-minigames, combat, lore, etc.)
To say that fable 2 looks amusing in terms of humour is not redundant as amusement could just as easily refer to plenty of other aspects to the game.

It doesn't mention anything about on one console co-op. But still it sucks in a sense but still I'd rather have the feature released a few days later than the games release if its going to be correct and properly working.
Also all co-op demos were done on the one xbox so I'm guessing if it worked to demo the game it should for the full just not online.

theres actually an online "safe" mode for co-op, that stops ur partner from killing anyone, or messing up any missions. obviously people will takee offence when they realise u trust them about as much as hitler, but in the long run will be helpful if they are trigger happy in ur local residence.

Man, that really sucks. I hope in the future they'l get the items produced and available to buy, or send out to buyers of the LE. This is really irritating me tbh. we're getting nothing tangible, its all DVD content or dlc. I have a bad feeling Fable II will get bad reviews for this, similar to how spore got bad reviews due to DRM.
On a side note, anyone seen the Lionhead video diary no.7? Has Judy Dench and Stephen Fry recording dialogue. Looks sweet!

Are you telling me it will still get to the US first? Despite Lionhead being UK based? I know Microsoft is USA, so it makes sense. But I'd still want it first.
That's just 3 days difference. It's probably something internal. Some publishers always ship on certain days of the week for different countries I think.

Yes we all pray for this. But yeah I still think the next gens AI could be a lot better but what do I know really. Still It would be cool walking around bowerstone with your dog right next to you looking wicked awesome. :p
Also something I've just thought is that in the trailer the young boy gets smacked out the window and then a dog comes and licks his hand so saying the boy is like 8-10 years old at the time so surely by the time hes 20 the dog will be starting to slow down and when hes 30 and super power (possibly) the dog would be dead or just old and lazy.

I've recently decided I'll probably get Fable 2 and will probably be evil considering I am usually good on most games with these sort of moral decisions. I did have the first Fable but after completing a hard side mission and buying a lot of stuff there was an error that made everything freeze up and I lost all of the stuff, after that point I had no real urge to play it again. Do you think that there will be anything major from Fable 1 that I'll need to know before playing 2, I know it's not the same main character and a slightly different setting but do you think anything story related will carry over?

there are some story bits, a few stores have broken release date so i'll tell you what i know (MAJOR SPOILERS GUISE)
in fable 1 you were a member of the heroes guild who save the world and do all heroic deeds and shit, and between fable 1 and 2 heroes are all wiped out and the guild gets burned down (see tales of albion (http://lionhead.com/fable2/TalesofAlbion/Default.aspx), that is pretty much as much as you need to know as far as backstory)
in fable 2 you and your sister are the last descendants of a long bloodline of heroes whose ancestors somehow survived, and a mysterious woman (who is your sister in fable 1) takes you to the ruins of the guild and makes you a really heroic hero

I'm actually glad they haven't altered the combat from its one click way, I think it's fine that way, with all the different spells you can use such as slow time and assassins rush it doesn't get as repetitive as most people would expect.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the world change around me and how everything develops to how I act, as well as seeing how my character develops (I'm probably going to go down the good but harsh path).

Only 8 spells? pfft!
Then again, there was only about 8 useful spells in Fable 1.
White Tiger
20-10-2008, 08:32 PM
8 spells means theres less to max out so you can be uber powerful in less time. Maybe :p
Still is it bad to start talkign about how quickly your next few days will be?
My next 2 will go by alright if work is going alright thursday should be alright and friday I'm hoping for an early finish/alright day.
I have a funeral tomorrow, followed by the scattering of ash on wednesday and work on the thursday...this game will actually be the best part of my week so I hope its bloody brilliant.
There's eight spells? Thats not so bad, the spells look majorly supercharged this time anyway...plus in the orginal it took alot of will exp to up the spell level after it hit around lv. 3 so you'd only wind up with a few maxed out spells in the end.

But I liked the choice of choosing which spells were worth levelling up and those which you weren't too bothered about.
I've read a few reviews and they seem to be contradicting each other, but luckily scores seem to be consistently high so it should be pretty dam good.
I hope "Force Push" doesn't throw everyone nearby like before...I was playing just now as my good character and me and some guards were attacking a bunch of bandits...and it threw the fucking guards too, so they got up and starting beating me with the bandits.
Wtf D:<

everything that it informed since release has been better, whatever was groundbreaking then seems standard now.
it's like playing jak and daxter 1 now, you won't see the big deal because now all games give you a different noise when you walk on different surfaces and you have the ability to go anywhere you can see.

I think force push is a very powerful tool if used correctly especially if your dog is attacking enemies on the ground since you can get them all onto the floor but obviously with gaurds around the struggle against the mass numbers will be less.
Use your powers wisely young padawan.
lol wonder if you can force push your dog...
I was reading impressions on various forums and some dude said he got an std off a chick so he force pushed her into the ocean. lol.

It seems my being safe about delivery of the game has back fired. It appears HMV are now lazy on their delivery time. Despite paying next day, it'l take three days to arrive. Three days from Friday, leaves me Sunday. No mail on Sunday, means I won't get it until Monday.
So I've now got to hope they get their arses together and deliver on time, go pre-order in an actual shop tomorrow and hope I can get it for release, or just wait for the online delivery.

Yeah but I bought it from live about a year ago and never really played it so should really.
Anyone got any advice?

Play it? Fuck ground breaking, and it seeming bland. It sets the story, gets you into the good V evil mindset, and making choices. Not to mention helping you acquaint yourself with how the Fable world acts.
Also, I do consider some things in Fable still ground breaking. Can anyone name another game where you age? As I can't.

Play.com says 3-5 days delivery. Most the time when I get the email saying its posted its next day. Its great for covering their backs sicne yeah we expect next day from what we've learnt but at the end of the day 3-5 days they say it clearly in every order email.
I'm not sure on hmw but if you're paying for next day delivery you have a right for your money back if they're sayign ti won't be next day. Theres still a chance it will be, depends who they use.
[EDIT]MY ORDER IS IN ''PACKING'' YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS
I giggled rather insanely into my hands when i found out.
FUCK YES!

you jammy git. I think HMV now operates on a policy of no packing the order until the day of release. So basically, they won't pack and (hopefully) ship my order until the 24th. Or the 25th.
I did send an angry email to them last night, as they seem delayed in delivery of all goods now. Eh, so long as I get it in time for my two weeks off, I'm still happy.
Woulda liked it early like the rest of you though...I'll use play from now on. Too late to pre-order Fallout 3 I reckon though. Eh, that just gives me more time for Fable II.
Also, download the fate cards we won't get right here! http://www.lionhead.com/?newsid=52 They look really nice to be honest, a shame they didn't make it.

If you're not desperate about the LE you can get nromal fable from play. I glad I cancelled my second order yesterday since I don't have enough money in my bank for two and might not of got them.

ah, there are five prizes, but only three paths. Good, Evil and Neutral/benevolent obviously. You get two prizes for the evil and benevolent path, and one for the good path.
I guess being evil does pay more. I've now got all three claimed. Hoorah for me!

Mines been posted this morning, that means there's a slim chance i could have it tomorrow but friday for definite.
It's painful that about 50 copys of this game will most likely be sitting in the glass display behind me most of tomorrow...
Wonder if they'd sell me one after my shift..

Mine has also been listed as shipped out this morning! Tomorrow for the win, as its my day off! Though I'll probably play Dead space first. Its more linear, so quicker to complete. More Fable time then.

There is not much side quests, the main story finishes as quick as fable 1 I'd say. But still I think it's more fun then fable 1.
SPOILER
The game just ends... there is no final boss something major happens in the story and it ends, pretty gay.
