Holy fooking pup what a great show!!

For those who haven't seen it it is about 2 teams of 6 guys. One team is being trained military style but with out any rewards and the other is being hippified with treats and gentle persuasion.

The big question is WHO WILL WIN?

So far there have been 2 tests and the score is one all!!

I'm not sure if it is being repeated on e4 but for further reference it is on Thursdays at 9pm

Standard Army tests:

Test 1:

Running an obstacle course carrying a huge log - won by the hippies

Test 2:

Running up the second highest of the Breacon Becons - won (quite easily) by the Armies.

Other highlights included watching a guy get his £50 haircut shaved off only to find out he was ill and couildn't carry on.

Week 2
Two more challenges happened:

Milling
Basicaly this involves punching the shite out of each other for 1 minute. Needless to say The more military Stick team won (but only just!!)

Land Rover Pullage
Does what is says on the tin. The two teams pulled a land rover over a set distance. Not the fairest of matches this one as there were two identical Land Rovers but one side of the track had a dip in it and the other didn't. It was a best of three with an "end swap" each time so whoever started on the dip would also end on the dip. Unsurprisingly the "dip" team lost 2-1 and who would that team be? The Stick team :(

It was an excellent show again and you can see how it is effecting the staff as well as the teams. The Carrot team's boss is becoming more and more frustrated by their lack of discipline (waking up at noon etc) but can't say a thing whilst The Stick teams boss is becoming more and more impressed by his boys but can't praise them. Next week looks like it might be the final, for those who are interested:

a) Bloody watch it (Channel 4 9pm Thursday)

or

b) I will update as soon as I can (be arsed)

I want the sticks to win, but they will fix it so that it is an even match by having cooperative events and non cooperative events. The stick apparently have a tighter knit group and the carrots are all falling out. But I haven't seen it, just had talk.

can't wait. no idea who will win. it still seems very wide open.

if the hippies win, will the army have to get spiritual and deck their recruits out in dreadlocks and tribal outfits? :)

Utterly brilliant!!

The results are in and it was a classic of British TV. One day people will look to The Carrot or the Stick and wonder why they don't make TV like that anymore (probably).

Week Three: The Final
Three challenges this week with very interesting outcomes...

Over-run
The teams were in a simple race of 3 miles, the last man over the line lost it for which ever team they represented. There was a bit of a sting in this tale though - the 3 mile run was only the first stage, what the teams didn't know was that after the initial 3 miles there would be another 3 miles uphill.

The Stick team never looked like the thought of losing even crossed their mind. They held back for the first few yards, overtook the Carrot team and weren't even slightly phased by the second leg of the race. Graham came last.

Murderball
Murderball is like rugby but with fewer rules and lots of violence. The Stick team sucked monkeys at it and lost 6-0!! Their punishment was to carry a 40lb log with them for the next 24 hours whilst the victors (The Carrots) relaxed in a cottage drinking wine and eating a full roast dinner. (More on this later)

The Final Challenge
The final challenge was pre-empted by each member of the team being asked if they wanted to stay or go. All members of the Stick team were very emphatic in their wish to continue but a couple of The Carrots had to think about it for a while - after a lot of encouragement Graham, the weakest of The Carrots, decided to stay.

The challenge was to run up the four highest peaks of the Brecon Beacons, the winning team for each peak would be awarded for each peak that they reached first with a 30 second head start for the following days task. The Sticks won by some 15 minutes overall taking all four peaks first and gaining the full 2 minute head start. The prize for the day was a stay in a sheltered outhouse whilst the Carrots were forced to sleep rough outside.

During the night the weakest member of each team was kidnapped and taken to a secret location, the task for the rest of the team was to find their comrade, carry them to a checkpoint, unchain their legs and then run up to the summit of a mountain.

The Stick team didn't really capitalise on their 2 minute head start and soon the Carrot team was in the lead. This meant nothing however as Cliff from the Carrots failed to spot his comrade whilst The Sticks found theirs and carried him off to eventual victory.

The Controversy
After a few bottles of wine a few members of The Carrots took a camera and spied on The Sticks. They claim to have filmed The Stick team sleeping without their log - a clear breach of the rules of their punishment. The evidence was poor quality to say the least and their claims showed them up to be childish and pathetic thereby increasing the morale and determination of The Sticks.

Overall I really enjoyed the series and, sad as it seems, I hope there will be a DVD of it in the future.

I'll leave you with the line we were left with which I think is rather telling:

Graham still has not met his girlfriend.
