OMG How can rockstar do this, they have released
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
http://www.play.com/Games/DS/4-/6072242/-/Product.html?searchstring=grand&searchsource=0

personally, i think that the ds is a terrible console, i mean Assassins Creed on the DS

When it is released 28/11/2008, i will lead a march of protesters leader a army against these ds fanboys

Oh god. Pre-emptive chill-the-fuck-out before something terrible happens, flame-war-wise.

So there's not much info as of yet, but I think this could be a good opportunity for a return to some good ol' top-down GTA action. "Chinatown" seems kind of limiting though...here's hoping there's a decent sized environment.

but the point is, that the DS has a bad picture quality, as cant support very big levels, it should be on the :notworthyWii:notworthy

hey dude

hey

hey dude

GO EAT A DICK

SOME OF US ENJOY GAMES WITH GOOD GAMEPLAY, AN ACTUAL STYLE, AND SOME HEART, INSTEAD OF GRITTY GRAPHICS, TERRIBLE GAMES, AND ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE GIMMICKS

YEAH, MOVIES ON UMD IS MORE OF A GIMMICK THAN A TOUCH SCREEN, DEAL WITH IT

EDIT: okay, i thought you were a sony fanboy

but apparently you're just a strange dude who thinks the wii has good image quality

Midget
19-07-2008, 12:27 PM
you have bad post quality and should just fuck off

um
the wii isn't handheld
so it's a completely different ballpark entirely

wow, man

RandomPerson
19-07-2008, 12:34 PM
thats my point, all DS games should be moved to either PSP or Wii, The PS3 is far to complex for mere DS games

Garry3
19-07-2008, 12:36 PM
haha lol you are a stupid person

albie_123
19-07-2008, 12:36 PM
what

Midget
19-07-2008, 12:36 PM
psps are made by sony

nintendo aren't going to put their games on a sony product

the wii isn't a handheld console, so that would defeat the entire point

just shut up, go to beginners and stop giving your retarded opinions; nobody gives a shit

JebblehMooo

Hotel Dusk was a great adventure logic game on the DS, i think GTA would do well on it tbh, the graphics etc arent bad at all!

RandomPerson

and yes i am a sony fanboy, i also have a Wii, is that a crime

Midget

Personally, I think it would work well if the game had a top down view like the original GTA games.

So Rockstar is all-of-a-sudden owned by Nintendo?
It's not Nintendo's game to decide what they do with it, they have bugger all input to it, bar the video ident.

facepalm.jpg aside, I dunno if GTA would work on the DS. It's always seemed more suited to 'gimmicky' games - I'm not meaning to say they're short-lived, but the DS was made for games that are made to use its touchscreen; not a port of another game that's much more suited to hardware that can handle massive environments and the style of gameplay it uses.

Will it work just like on PSP, or have some massive interactive overhaul where you can make the protagonist snort coke or kill a prostitute by shouting into the mic in a public place?

El Kabong
19-07-2008, 01:26 PM
Whoah I totally called a "chill the fuck out" in the second post.

None-the-less the DS has a fuckton of non "gimmicky" games, and realistically the touch screen would be great for a map you could scroll over, tap destinations onto etc.

You're all assuming it's going to be third person perspective, remember the older GTA games?

Kaveman

No information has been released for this game other than it'll play like the 3D GTAs.
Rockstar is a great company and they will make it work and it will be great. Now quit whining, if you want to play gta on the psp go play LCS and VCS and if you want to play gta on the wii stop being stupid and go play GTA IV.

CrazyGuy
19-07-2008, 02:51 PM
exactly, surly they would think about who the fans. The DS is always getting better, so how can you judge that this game will be rubbish.

Forgive me if I've got something wrong here but surely those games were third person also, considering you are looking down from above onto your character?

Also Randompersons threads seem to have put an end to the long run of there being no threads worthy of being cheesed outside the cheesebin.

eidderf

I'd call that a birds-eye view, maybe it is technically third person but when people usually refer to a third person perspective in gaming they usually mean from behind the character.

*Points you in the direction of my post.*

Sorry there was a lot of facepalm and stuff so I kind of skipped over a few posts.

I think it should be birds-eye but still 3D. Like Phantom Hourglass.

3rd person is, cod games, star wars games, legend of zelda games. the camera is probably more like gta1

Shrug. The GTA games on the GBA weren't bad at all.

Heck, I'd take a GTA : London port to DS, as long as they use one screen for the driving and the other for showing the overall map because in the top down GTA games it's unbelievably easy to get lost.

CrazyGuy

this may not matter, but is gta 2 any good. I have that on the PS1 but I never played it, that is from birds eye view

This might sound really sad, but if you did not know, GTA on the DS has....WI-FI

GTA 2 is free to download (legally) for PC here (http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/), so why not try it yourself.

My opinion : I prefer GTA London.

As it is a game from the past it will probably feel a bit dated now.

I do have the game for my PS1, pehaps next week I will dust the 'Retro' console, and play the game.

In my opinion the developers that can be bothered are releasing some of there best work in years on the DS such as Namco and Square-Enix and I cant see Rockstar rushing some shit-fest like Assassins Creed on the DS

Aye, captain.

Isometric FTW.

Though sprites would work better than 3D models I think.

Ayy?!

Call of Duty is 1st person.

Star wars games have been of many, many genres.

LoZ has been 3rd person, 1st person in places, top down, isometric, side scrolling and even 2nd person (a boss fight in Hourglass was viewed from the boss's point of view.)

To be fair at 14 years old the original Playstation is older than a fair chunk of the forum.

I'm outraged for something for some reason and I'm going to make points that don't make sense in an outraged tone.

Actually scratch that.

This could be... quite interesting? Gamespot says that Rockstar are saying it'll 'feature an experience similar to the franchise's traditional Liberty City setting.' I'm not entirely sure what that means? Are they talking about the first game? Or the ps2 game? WHO CAN TELL!?!? If there's one thing for sure it's that it will mean THE END OF SOCIETY AS THE DAILY MAIL KNOWS IT.

I was just on the phone to Rockstar.

They said they are really sorry they offended you and stopped working on the game.

They didn't know it hurt you so much.

PS - Rockstar just phoned back. They said sorry again.
