I have always been a fan of Jim Carrey. I think he is one of those actors who is truly a nice/down-to-earth person off screen.
His comedy is not particularly witty as most of it is physical. Yet it still makes me laugh sometimes.
What are your thoughts about carrey and your favorite carrey movies?
My favorite carrey movie of all time is dumb and dumber. I also like the Cable Guy (which i think is underrated).

I have not seen any of his newer movies. The last one he did that i saw was the Truman show.

I think Jim Carey is unfairly hated. It is very fashionable to not like his work because he was so prolific during the early nineties but people don't realise just how good an actor he is.
Jim Carey never gives less than 100% on a movie and has sustained physical and mental damage as a result, his comedies help him to overcome and ignore his manic depression and his method acting skills are, in my opinion, up there with Robert DeNiro.
If you don't like his material then blame the script-writers, producers and directors of Hollywood but at his worst he is usually still better than Rob Schneider, The Wayans Brothers or Adam Sandler.

Jim Carrey is hilarious. His best film is Ace Ventura 2...
...but he loses a lot of his magic if you see any of his outtakes (he basically does take after take after take before he gets something funny)

I think his Ace Ventura films are comedy gold..(he should make a third)
he was brilliant as Andy Kaufman in 'Man on the moon' a lot of people don't rate this movie but I think it's one of his best yet!
I'd have to agree with pinkerbell when she said he is trying way to hard
and its coming across on screen, he's just not as funny. Bruce Almighty was a big let down for me

Bruce Cambpell.... period. Jim Carrey is the same in all his movies. I don't think he is that funny at all.

Jim Carrey is a brilliant actor. I love his films especially Dumb and Dumber, Ace Ventura and Me,Myself and Irene. His best film I thought was Man On The Moon. It was soooooooo funny! Saw Bruce Almighty the other week and thought that was great too.
"Like a glove"
Me myself and irene was his best movie in my opinion...bloody genius.

he is a skilled comedian, who knows about timing, and is gifted with his elastic face. You canīt really argue with that.
his acting has been moderate, and bad at times. Only at the Truman Show did he show he was capable of some quality acting. Unfortunately, most of the time he relies on his crazyness to carry the weight of the film.
I saw Bruce Almighty, which suprisingly had me pissing myself. A great comedy, and a good performance.
Most of his earlier films are piss poor, and he always does the same tricks.
Last night at the Oscars, he did a very poor Pink Panter tribute.
When i saw him winking and nudging at the audience with his fake smile, i though: omgwtf Bob Sagett!

It has been unfortunate that for most of Jim Carrey's career he has been tagged a "Rubber Faced Goon" and on watching some of those films in close proximity they tend to blur into each other.
However he is a very skilled actor who takes his trade seriously.
While recording "The Man On The Moon" it's reported that he took on the Andy Kaufman character while off set as well. He asked that people refer to him as Andy at all times. When he auditioned for The Grinch it is said that he did his audition in the style of Andy Kaufman auditioning for the Grinch.
As mentioned before his performance in The Truman Show shows him elevated above the level of Rubber Faced Goon.
Potentially a great actor, if only Hollywood would give him the serious challenging roles he deserves.

As good as Happy Gilmore is, I thought Sandler was fantastic in Punch Drunk Love. Totally not a typical Sandler-Comedy performance. It's good.
Carrey-wise, I thought the Cable Guy was actually pretty good, but Dumb and Dumber rules almost all.

compared to Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey is a genious.
Adam Sandler has tried, God knows he has tried, but has has never made me laugh.

i donīt think they deliberately made a "not so very good movie".
they might have given it a camp-ish B look, or as a tribute to older B-films...
but you donīt just decide to make crap.

His older movies (Ace Venturer, Mask,) are pretty childish, but Bruce Almighty is funny.

I rate Ace Ventura and Cable Guy, everything else I've found to be just so-so. To be honest I haven't seen anything with him in since dumb and dumber as I found it to be quite offensive. I just don't see how anyone can get away with taking the piss out of people with a low IQ. Its exactly the same as ripping on blacks or gays. For shame.
However I'm interested in seeing his new film which I cant remember anything about.
This Bad Joke (tm) was presented in -+=Crap-O-Vision =+-
