KEY
substitutions in yellow ■ deaths in blue

The rules are simple. You propose 15 celebrities you believe will croak before 2359 on December 31st 2009 and if you're right, you'll be given points. The player with the most points at midnight on 31st December/1st January 2009/10 will be the winner.

HOW TO ENTER

Pick 15 celebrities who you think will die before 31st December 2009 which adhere to the rules.
Post or PM me your chosen 15.

HOW TO SCORE

When a chosen celebrity dies you receive 100 - their age, for example, a 45 year old would score 55 points.
If a chosen celebrity dies over the age of 100 they will score 1 point.
If your chosen celebrity is terminally ill upon death your points will be halved.
If a substituted celebrity dies then your points will be halved.

THE RULES

Every entrant must submit a list of 15 celebrities who they believe will pass away before midnight on 31st December 2009.
All chosen celebrities must be human and must be real people (ie no characters from soaps or film)
At least five of you chosen celebrities must be below 50 years old at time of entry.
All chosen celebrities must be named in the entry (ie no entires of President whats-his-name or "the oldest man in the world") - If they are a celebrity who is not likely to be recognised by the majority of the entrants, please add a simple not to explain who (s)he is (ie "Margaret Thatcher - ex-British Prime Minister").
Anyone caught murdering their target will be sent to bed without any dinner and will not receive their Death Pool points (and you may also face up to life imprisonment or even the death penalty depending on where you live). Other entrants will receive their points as normal.
In order to qualify as a celebrity, the entrant must be famous enough to get an obituary in a major British/American newspaper or on the BBC website upon their death.
Up to five substitutions may be made throughout the year (one substitute only if you enter after 2359 on 30th June 2009), although a points penalty will be imposed if this person then dies.
In the event of a tie at the end of the competition, the winner will be the entrant with the highest number of correct nominations through the year. If it is still a tie, the player with the lowest average age for their dead entrants will be the winner. If it's still a tie, then it's a draw. This game really isn't that important.
You cannot pick someone who has been sentenced to die within the next year. If their penalty is reduced you will be allowed to pick them.
You may pick someone if it has been publicised that they are terminally ill, but your points will be halved.

Any thoughts/comments on the death pool then feel free to PM me.

Let the games begin...

I dont remember anyone suggesting that.

Plus it makes about as difficult as it already was, which I thought went against what we were saying in the old thread.

Smartie
12-01-2009, 04:33 PM
I'm not sure really any one needed to suggest it directly.
As Streety runs the thread I assume he has chosen to include this to try and mix things up a bit.

It's in no way detrimental to the thread, or indeed more difficult, as it adds a whole 5 extra people, plus we can now include terminals/seriously ill.

I did actually suggest that a person under 30 should be included to make things interesting, and I see this as an adaptation of that.

It's pretty scary actually, cause I watched Dirty Dancing a few days ago (for the first time) with the gf and I told her he was dead. She disagreed so I checked online and it turned out he was still alive.

Somehow I feel like it's my fault.

Lou Albano died at 76 the other day. Bit surprising really as I chose him without any inkling that he really would die.

btw, this: HOW TO ENTER

* Pick 15 celebrities who you think will die before 31st December 2008 which adhere to the rules. needs changing
