View Full Version : Weebl's Stuff University BA Football Management Thread

[murray]
14-04-2009, 10:27 PM
This is the thread for all things related to the WSU BA in Football Management.

The staff member in charge of this course is Professor AngryPaul. Like all our other staff, he is an expert in his field and has dedicated much of his life to the study of effective Football Management.

The course, like all others, will be done over a period of Six Weeks. During these Six Weeks you will be required to complete Twelve Tasks. These tasks are as follows:

Week 1:

Task 1: Complete Football Trivia exam. Proof Required: Send completed quiz to [murray] via PM.
Task 2: Start a new game on any version of Football Manager with an English non-league side of your Choice. Proof Required: Screenshot of new game in thread.

Week 2:

Task 1: Complete Badges and Kits quiz. Proof Required: Send completed quiz to [murray] via PM.
Task 2: Sign a player on loan with a value of at least £100k. Proof Required: Screenshot in thread.

Week 3:

Task 1: Attend a non-league game in support of your nearest local team. They can be ANY LEVEL as long as they are not higher in the system than the Blue Square Premier. If it is not possible to do that in this week, this task can be performed at ANY POINT during the degree course. Proof Required: Photograph of you at the game posted in thread.
Task 2: Win 10 league games with your new club by the end of the week. Proof Required: Screenshot in thread.

Week 4:

Task 1: Start a thread in Sports and Bets relating to anything you like. It could be about your local team, your favourite team, a different sport, anything, as long as it is relevant and contributes something to the forum. Proof Required: Link to new thread in here.
Task 2: Progress to at least the First Round of the FA Cup. Proof Required: Screenshot in thread.

Week 5:

Task 1: Start a football based competition thread. This can be a quiz, or anything else you can think of. Proof Required: Link to new thread in here.
Task 2: Go one month without losing a league match. Proof Required: Screenshot in thread.

Week 6:

Task 1: Write a short essay (something like 500-1000 words) on your chosen non-league team for the FM anonymous thread. The essay should include a brief history and should attempt to encourage others to choose that club in the future. Proof Required: Post in thread.
Task 2: Successfully achieve promotion to the next division with your club. Proof Required: Screenshot in thread.

There is one difference with this degree to the others. Because of the rather lengthy nature of playing a season of FM and not necessarily having the same time to play every week, you can complete the FM based tasks whenever, as long as you post the proof in the appropriate week. Also, the Non-League football task simply may not be possible for some in that week, so can be done at any point.

Like all the other degrees You will need to successfully complete 8 tasks to get a basic degree, 9 tasks to achieve a Second Class (Lower), 10 to achieve a Second Class (Higher), 11 to achieve a First Class, and the full 12 in order to get a First Class Honours. The Faculty's decision on your successful completion of a challenge is final.

Enrolment for the above course has now begun! If you wish to take this course, please sign up now in this thread. This thread will be where all things related to this course will be posted, including the proof that you have completed tasks.

Task 1: Attend a non-league game in support of your nearest local team. They can be ANY LEVEL as long as they are not higher in the system than the Blue Square Premier. If it is not possible to do that in this week, this task can be performed at ANY POINT during the degree course.

Dakano, yes, as long as it falls within your 6 weeks :)

Dr Bender, you don't have to complete every task to get a degree.

Here are the questions for the Football Trivia Quiz task, courtesy of the good Professor AngryPaul himself.

1. Name the first £1m football player.
2. Who play at Ewood Park?
3. Name a manager that has won England's top tier with two teams.
4. Which team can be desrcibed as 'SCUM NEED THE TRAIN.'
5. Name all five European Cup winners from Britain.
6. Who won the first World Cup?
7. What season was the last time a team other than Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United won the Premier League title?
8. Who scored England's 'other' goal in the 1966 World Cup Final?
9. Name the most expensive English footballer ever.
10. Who were Sheffield Wednesday playing when Paolo di Canio pushed referee Paul Alcock to the ground?
11. How many penalty shootouts have England lost in major competitions?
12. When was the last time Scotland reached a major International tournament?
13. Who missed the deciding penalty in the 1994 World Cup Final?
14. Which Italian team was stripped of league titles and relegated after a match fixing scandal in 2006?
15. What was the predominant colour of the kit Manchester United claimed made players hard to see against the Southampton crowd?

Please do not use Google. Like any other university, plagiarism is not appreciated, and as we have no way of checking here, please be honest!

Please send your answers to this quiz in a Private Message to myself, as AngryPaul is off on holiday for a bit. We don't want people scamming answers off you in the thread, now!

In order to pass this task you must achieve a score of at least 10 out of 15.

Also, you can start your degree at any point, but from the date that you start (that will be marked by the date of your post) you will have 6 weeks to complete your tasks. Remember folks, it is two tasks a week that we need proof of, please don't post them all in one week, as we will likely have a lot to get through as it is. Proof can come in the forms of screenshots, photographs, Private Messages or links to relevant posts/threads. To indicate that you are starting your degree, please simply post in this thread saying I am starting my degree, today, on (date.)

Good luck!

Good luck to everyone for the first task.

I'm very happy to be overseeing this degree course. I expect to see a great level of achievement after my years of private tutoring!

Yay ^_^

It's bloody hard getting a 100k player to join a club with such a low reputation, I fear I may fail this one.

Yeah tell me about it, NOBODY wants to move on loan to mighty Hampton and Richmond. I did get Malcolm Christie on a free though, I thought that was quite good.

Edit by [murray]: Sentence removed so as not to give away answers.

Bit late to get going, but, thought I'd join in as I just started a new game, yes, I realised I edited Margate back into the Conference, but its where we belong, dammit! And it's not the exact start of season because I forgot till now bout the BA in FM...

So here's the 08/09 Season fixtures...
http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/oo177/FortunesAlwaysHiding/fmfixtures.jpg

And I signed Zavon Hines on loan from the Hammers
http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/oo177/FortunesAlwaysHiding/ZavonHines.jpg

Again... it's not quite what you asked for, but it's a pic of the Margate team from a couple of years back with me in it, at the back in the middle standing with my arms crossed...
