Like, what program do you use and where do you get it? Since I saw the Patrick Moore thing I've been inspired to learn to make these things.

WOW! Fish heads is almost good enough for Weebls-stuff! I did a beautiful flash movie once starring Colonel Harland D. Sanders (the guy from KFC) - but lost it when we upgraded to windows 98 from windows 95

Alright, step outside, it's time for me to kick your ass.

or better yet, give me your address and I'll send you a bomb.

Indeed. Why upgrade - it costs you a bomb, and all versions of Windows are pretty much the same - XP is just the same as ME for example, only different coloured toolbars and no DOS. Windows 95 with a decent processor will work just as well as any later version.

except that most new software and hardware won't work under winsows 95 due to restrictions, eg 95 can't cope with more than 256 MB of ram

Oh, and to all you that keep posting the :nana: ,

True, but I don't tend to keep much software on my PC that demands such memory. I'm currently on W98, 224 RAM, and I've never had problems with memory.

Only with Windows 95, you get to pick the color for your Blue-Screen of Death.

Windows 95 will not work anywhere NEAR as good as XP, even with the worlds best cpu. It doesnt support large ammounts of RAM.

I have windows XP on all my PC's, except for one.

Ill have to agree with the people that say that Windows XP is alot better.

The only thing that XP could do without... would be the fact that its trying so hard to be pretty and modern... but it just doesnt work for it.. haha

Well, I have XP, and I think the bars look quite nice. However, nothing is "futuristic," so-to-speak, since we are always in the present, and therefore, whatever is built is presentistic. ...or something...

And before I start to look stupid... (too late) Wasn't this thread originally about making flash movies?

Windows ME is bloody awful. I've got it on my computer and Win98/2000/XP are *all* better than it, in my experience.

As for the original question. Although not condoning piracy in any way, if you were an evil man who wanted to deprive Macromedia of their dosh, you could

[deleted - you can guess what was here!]

But only evil people who deserve pain and misery would do this
;-)

When I've done music for stuff, I still use an old version of Cool Edit and a free edition of Renoise for putting together beats/songs.

firstly if you use windows ME and you dont like it, why dont you change it? i use windows 98, windows 2000 and windows server 2003. win2k3 would be the best if it didnt have stupid opengl bugs and stuff.

secondly, you mentioned the forbidden word and should be punished severely. (hint: beginning with a C and ending with a K)
im sure everyone else has legally bought flash, havent they?

Can't afford to buy it. I need the cash to pay for my crack habit.

Seraph

I dont think many people do buy windows, hrhr!

Ive only bought one version myself, and that was XP...
Even tho i have had many before it. :p

You can get hold of a copy soooo easily.

Its almost TOO easy... dont you think?

I had to interject since I'm such a nerd. And if you can't tell, I'm new.
First off; if you're running windows server 2k3 and whining about the fact that it doesn't support openGL well shows a distinct lack of knowledge in the area of operating systems. Server OSes are designed with as little overhead as possible so they can run server-style applications with as little slowdown as possible. :) Of course the openGL support isn't going to be there... servers aren't supposed to be used to play games.

Secondly, I have to disagree with the remark that windows XP is just ME with a facelift. ME was based off windows 98 code, something that was just an extension of DOS. Windows XP is based off the windows NT (2000 series) codebase, and therefore is not related to Windows ME. It's actually a far more stable OS.

Now that I've irritated everyone... :)

"aw, man, im gonna have to run OpenGL... lets just have a blue screen of death and dump the whole contents of the memory to the hard drive!"

Again, nobody uses servers for graphics-intensive applications. Get a workstation build.

EXACTLY. Servers are for being.. well.. Servers! They have to be code-streamlined in certain areas for speed and use alot of extra code to help with network connectivity and security issues. YOU DO NOT need to run Win2K3 Server for your graphics work. Just use Win XP Pro and get the best system for your needs! :)
