Sorry I also havent been about but I have been busy working and also helping people move and such. I will return to take over the betting shop after the Euro2004 Final (I don't think it would be fair to have Zola do all the work and then me take over for the Final :D)

I have not made a profit on many occasions, but when I have I have either sent theem to JonnyFFmaster to divide them among shareholders or not actually been able to send theem to him on account of him being away.

Sadly for the shareholders, if a profit is made by Zola, 40% will not go to shareholders as it was not anything to do with AngryPaul. People should know this already as when I was operating the betting myself, profits made by Streety were not included. Therefore no profits have been made by myself recently, therefore no pay-outs have been available for shareholders.

Shane and I have been in discussion about the use of a 'chips' and using 'staff' to keep track of certain accounts and then we can continue betting. However, it will be nowhere near as interesting as using roopees, but there we go.

What do people think of the idea? It will take a lot of work to keep the accounts under a watchful eye. I will be looking at people like JonnyFFmaster, Dingbat, Cap'n Zola and others to be the new Betting Shop 'staff' although that might take away all the gamblers :eek:

Well here is the plan.

A new thread will be started for this and I will need a few staff to keep tabs upon peoples accounts.

Betting Shop Staff (BSS) will be assigned a gmabler's account to keep up-to-date and report it back to me and then it will be published in the first post. We will have to decide how to work around people running out of 'chips' but thats what the other thread will be for.

Ap thats all well and good but its still not as good as with the rupies,ok it is a good idea, but there is no real reward, ok you get your name up in the hall of fame but you cant use your winnings for anything, it is really a no risk situation and everyone one will bet big on the favourites rather than going for the outside chance as much.


I personally dont think it will be half as sucessful seeing as people have nothing to loose or gain.

It was the old forum currency that was used. We used to bet with it and give it as prizes for winning competitions. The rupies system was got rid of because people were taking it for granted and spamming.

The end of rupies was a turning point in the sports and bets forum's history. I have seen it as a chance to start over and leave the past behind. The reputation system has worked out great and there are no longer loads of new betting threads appearing. People are now posting more intelligently.

I am not against the start of a chips system but I won't be using it.

Well I think we have come to the end. The removal of the roopee system has seen the thread become a deserted place - as has the betting side of Sports And Bets. Without the roopee's - or an agreement of a new 'chips' system - the betting system, which began with AngryPaul's Betting Shop, has been rendered a lot less exciting experience. therefore it is my very sad duty to declare that AngryPaul's Betting Shop is now closed for business.

I am sad to see the Betting Shop end like this - with a whimper rather than a bang - but thats life I suppose. It was a great thread when it was open and nearly reached its 100th page! It was supported by some great forumites and was also operated by some. It was a great time where I would check the post and bets made in here before anywhere else. Sharing Euro2004, Champins League and League Football with all you guys was great.

I would like to thank the regular gamblers like mr jones, dogincognito, Dr S, JonnyFFmaster, Mr Stabby and Dingbat for their support.

Ok. Now that Paul Scholes has buggered off the international scene what do you think's gonna happen now? I was thinking (not really serious) that maybe with 5-3-2:

Beckham Gerrard Lampard
Defoe Owen

Scholes is no big loss, he had already been moved out to the left 'cause Frank Lampard has taken his place, he wouldn't have been a first team player by WC2006. I really hope a good left winger emerges. Julian Gray the new Birmingham left winger has a decent reputation we'll see how he does in the Premiership this season. Apart from that i think we won't be much different to now, maybe with Neville being edged out of the first team.

That starting lineup was complete poo. No Rooney up front? and 5-3-2 wouldn't work.

I also think that Scholes leaving is not really that bad. It saves Sven shuffling people around to accomodate Lampard and Scholes in the same team.

If Heskey gets into the World Cup swuad then it will be from personal preformances and nothing else. There isn't any pressure from the fans or media to select him. If he plays well then he should be playing. I think that playing under Houllier did him no good. Houllier didn't install any confidence in the players that needed it. Look at how good Biscan is playing now. Heskey was amazing in his first season with us, scoring over 20 goals. After a few bad performances he has never regained that form. I think he will do well at Birmingham and I wish him good luck.

I doesn't take much to criticise players but to get behind players that are playing poorly takes a lot more.

Shaun Wright-Phillips shouldn't be a 1st choice in the England squad. He has has only 1 good season and just causes more problems of shuffling people around. Beckham is best on the right with Gerrard and Lampard in the centre. We just need someone to play on the left.

Wright-Phillips definitely isn't a starter yet, but one for the future, and i think he'd be an excellent player to bring off the bench with 20 minutes left, his pace and energy would cause all sorts of problems.

Anyway, a betting idea from another forum, i think it might work:

Basically you have an imaginary starting bank of £100 which you can bet on any game I can get odds for. Just tell me what you want to bet on and I will will calculate the win or loss for you after the event. There will be regular updated tables to track who is winning.

So you would just post saying "£20 on Chelsea to win v Leicester at (whatever the odds are)"

You can bet in doubles or trebles or accumulators if you like as long as you make it clear in your post what you want to do.

If any new betting idea does happen it will be in a new thread so a new format wouldn't be a problem.

That is basically the same as the chips system.
I would be up for running a betting shop if...
- People just said what they wanted bet on and I found the odds
- Or it was limited to Football. Finding bets from other sports takes ages as you have to look in loads of places.

I don't mind bets being restricted to footy, that's all i bet on and all i know anything about anyway.

Well here we go then. The 100th page. The first and only betting thread to have reached this milestone. It is a shame that it wasnt able to continue into a second thread, but who knows what the future holds.
