Very nice effects on the gun. Laughed out loud on the banana bit - predictable but funny.:D The legs on your person seem to be very long so the kick and leap near the beginning looked odd. Nevertheless I loved the cut off limbs and kick. 8/10 I give it.

That was a rock? I thought it was a filing cabinet! I liked the lightning how do you make it look even slightly realistic? Mine look like a bent plastic sword. :confused:

1.Save you ani as a GIF

2.Look for a Pivot forum with the correect saving opions (i dontpivot alot anymore)

3.go to Imageshck.us and host it

4. Seclect hotlink to forums 1 and post

Kingkong(smells :p Not Really) use imageshack. Upload the Images there and then when the link comes up (since you are a noob,15 posts needed to do it naturally) copy the Direct link to image link and paste it on the forums and take out the http://www. or the http:// if the site doesn't have www in the web address part. It wont be a link and when we paste it into the address bar, it puts the http://(www.) part in for you

1.It's not here you should ask I think.

2. to answer it's because the link goes in the text. You upload lik on www.imageshack.uk and you choose your file you take the hotlink 1 and you directly get it in the text (Or in the sig's text)

How Big is it? there is a 500KB Limit on how much you can attach total

@ Alex: I know. It's because to show it to you I wanted it to be bigger. Or you couldn't see it correctly.

@ STICKFRICK: I'm glad you've used my stick. You need to work on easing. It will really really really help you. It will correct a part of the stifness of the anim. And move every joint (Correctly make it have some sense) In every frame.

Nobody said what they though about the anim.

If you save it as a gif. it will come out as a gif. REMEMBER TO CHANGE THE PIV SELECTION AT THE BOTTOM FROM PIV TO GIF AND CLICK SAVE

That should do it. :)

Anyway. From what I can gather, you wan't to know what's better about pivot 3 BETA (It's the BETA Version right?) It's better on the whole (Quirks here and there), but it's really buggy

You make sprites yourself.

And you mean Stk.s of chairs and knives. Again, Best to make it yourself. Search for some stk.s on google.

i have used pivot 2.2.5 , it takes skill to make items like weapons or models.

the thing about sprites are you usually get a white outline , or just an outline and it can be frustrating.

My advice is stick with pivot 2.2.5 ,if your having trouble making a model ask another member to help you .

No bugs and to be true , i think it just looks better on 2.2.5

also on pivot 3 beta you can make things to big without it stalling or lagging for a long time . but that might just be my pc .

I wouldn't say it was perfect but it is pretty good.

Firstly I agree with eoin I would crouch him just a wee bit more before the jump. Also it is Incredibly stiff. His back stays in the same position for the whole animation. You need to try move ALL the joints of the figure in ALL the frames to remove stiffness. This could lead to twitching and choppyness though so ease all the movements that all the different joints do. :eng101:

Oh the crouch needs more easing too. It stops too suddenly.

Anyway, I've been experimenting with realistic running, and come to realize that it won't really work to do mildly exaggerated walking movements with a lower framecount. Apparently running is a pretty different beast to walking.

That is because when running, you are at one point every stride, lifting both feet off the ground. When walking, your feet never leave the ground both at the same time. And when running, you land on your toes. When walking you start on your heels. Hop this helps as I can't even do walking :)

Those are some excellent tips. I was thinking about adding a frame or two in the air, but as the walking cycle tends to be non-constant, it's hard to place them right. I think I'll develop a new run entirely and not base it on walking at all.

And I didn't even notice the toes thing, that's kinda cool. I usually test movements with my own body to get them looking realistic, but I guess I need to pay more attention to detail :]

/Edit: Could you show me an example of the way you animate walking? If you have problems with it as you say, I may have some tips and tricks that could help.

I was kinda embarrased when my girlfriend came up and I was doing slow motion running swearing when I fell over from doing it too slowly. She said I looked like I was disabled and drunk.:rolleyes:

Hahaha. I guess looking like an idiot is an essential part of animating. But you know, you really should save all the stuff you make. It's very fun to compare your early stuff to your recent ones, and see how you've improved.

Im afraid stickfrick isn't high beginner.. closer to med beginner.

Ciledog is low-med beginner. Your movements aren't great and your aniamtions play a litle slowly.. eased incorrectly I'd say.

A bit slow chezking. And Im pretty sure that you've jsut copied bahas run tut frame by frame.

Anonymoose that is pretty good for a first but lay off weapons and effects for now. Ill copy and paste my tut for beginners later int his post for you. I don't see the smoothness smallfry is talking about but for a first that is still pretty damn awesome.

Tut (made by me T_T I didn't rip it or anything)

OK so you're new to pivot. You're animations will most likely be choppy and stiff. This tutorial is to help you get gradually better untill you can progress further on you're own.

ACTION PLAN

Your best plan of action right now is to do tests. Lots of tests. Do tests on easing (explained below), movements, physics etc.

The first tests should try get your basic movements w/ easing (things like walking punching maybe kicking). Once you can do that try chaining your kicks and punches together and try to get it to flow nicely. Once you can do this add in a second character and try get your reactions good.

Then try on some of the more complicated things. Basic effects for example. Try maybe ground tremors, blood, fading. Once oyu get these sorted try involving them into an animation. When you can do an aniamtion with good movements, etc. AND effects looking ok then you could try more complex effects.

STIFFNESS EXPLAINED

Stiffness is where a part of the stickman doesnt move for a few frames. This will make the body part look stiff and unrealistic. The way to ultimatley remove your stiffness is to move EVERY joint EVERY frame. The only problem with this is it can make your animations look jerky and choppy. To get it to be unstiff and smooth/non jerky ease all of the movements the body parts make. This will smooth out the movements and stop them being jerky.

EASING EXLPAINED

Easing is one of the trickier but essential parts of animating. Think of it like a car. First it accelerates, reaches a peak speed and hten slows down as it comes to sotp (except the car can stay at the peak speed for a while. Your stks shouldnt).

basically you start moving whatever part of the .stk slowly. Then every frame move it a bit more than the last (speeding up the movement) have it reach a peak speed and then slow down again.

Bad Easing

This is an example of bad easing. The stk moves the same ammount each frame making the movement look robotic and unrealistic. It will also start to quickly and finish to abruptly. This is a common mistake of newer people to pivot cause they beleive if they move the .stk the same ammount every frame it'll go smooth. Wrong.

Good Easing

This is an example of good easing. It starts of slowly, speeds up and then slows abck down to a stop. This will make your aniamtions ALOT more smooth and realistic.

FADING

Fading is where you make a .stk fade out of the screen (not hard right?). It is an easy but effective effect. First go into your 'color' menu. Then click on 'define custom colours'.

Once you have done this pick on of the black boxes. go to your 'luminosity' box and change it to 60. Save that colour. Then change it to 120 and finally 180. For the frames that you fade out your .stk just change it to a lighter colour. Or if you're fading in then change it to a darker colour.

As soon as syou start to fade out the .stk push the 'back' button. This means you will be able to see the floor through the .stk. Sounds as if its a mistake right? Wrong. Think of the .stk turning into fog as it fades (just for this example) If you look through fog its a sort of grey BUT YOU CAN STILL SEE THROUGH IT. This is the same if your fading something out. If you dont 'back' the figure it will just look like its changing colour. Backing it will make it look more seethrough which is what you should be aiming for with fading.

Edit: Stickfrick, all you need is easing I think. After that you'll be better. Keep practicing(Spelling?) and look at teri's tut =)

1. The body would have moved at least a bit. Cause you know a beam is supposed to be powerfull.

2. The beam was just a line that you made bigger and smaller. Add some shits like particles and things.

3. Make some test and basic things before getting into effects.

Last one and ragon one were amazing, loved the smoothness in the dragon and the dante thing. On the first one, the ground is wated, as he seems to run on it rather than below it, but just enough off it to show it isn't a board or something similar. (The monkey also turns into a banana?)
